Yes because all professional salsa dancers can only think of banging the guy they're dancing with. Seriously?
What is really proffesional? We should be proffesional in our own ways when it comes to dancing. I like dancing to salsa music at times, but to me when I dance, I don't do it for bad nor dirty intentions. To me dancing is and has always been based upon great expressions of joy in the Lord. :)

By professional I mean in the literal sense meaning you get paid to do it.

Professional dancing is a sport, you compete and you're paid to do it. I can guarantee to them it's nothing more than a job and fun, not a way to get down and dirty. I was merely remarking on the lunacy of assuming all salsa dancing is just a way to be dirty and "impure".

I do know what proffesional means. I just pointed out that before God everyone can be a proofesional. ;)
But yeah, it is all okay. :) Thanks for explain what you meant.

If you want a good example of dancing used specifically to glorify God, check out Ballet Magnificat. My sister bought their interpretation of the story of Ruth on DVD and it was pretty awesome stuff. Ok, so they need help in their music and costumes department (at one point they even used music from The Barber of Seville, you know the one you hear so often on Bugs Bunny? Totally ruined that scene for me ;) ), but other than that... It's been a couple of years since I watched it, but in one of the pieces a lot of the dancers were ears of corn, and they pulled it off! It wasn't corny! :D Also I've also been to a Christian dance conference before that was super, they had tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, break dancing, and African dancing, maybe others but I don't remember. It was really wonderful, dancing together with fellow believers, you could clearly see everyone's love for God expressed through dance. One of the things I enjoyed most about it was the spirit of excellence portrayed by everyone, they went all out and worked their tales off, indeed they were very professional, not tacky at all. :)

Dancing is wrong? It was, actually said here many times already. It is like with music. It depends on why you dance and what and so on. Pair dance might seem gutsy to some Christians and in my church they warn us of dancing because of this reason. But it also depends on you and your dance partner, how you feel that. It also depends on if you dance for entertainment or to tempt the man you dance with. My friend from Bolivia says she doesnt like salsa, because she knows that the dances are composed to tempt the dancing pair. But dances generally are not anything bad. I dance Israeli dances and a lot of them are direct celebration of God (not all of them).

Again, that depends on which form of dances. I understand that most people get sceptical when dancing tight to tight salsa, tango, lambada etc with a guy/man, I somehow never enjoyed dancing this way with someone. I most of the time made my own dance alone. ;)

But dances like normal swing and ballroom dances aren't as close to each other in the same way as the ones I mentioned above to you, and these dances are also a lot more appropriate and much more elegant(especially the ballroom dances). I would like taking ballroom dance lessons with my husband sometime in the future. I think it looks very beautiful, and I beleive it has to be a lot of fun as well. :)

Personally, I don't even see anything wrong with grinding. It's honestly a great workout for girls and guys don't have to be vulgar about it. I know I'm not when I dance with ladies.

I think it is motive. do you dance to show off. how do you dance? is it for rebellion. I think if you are honest, your motive will provide an answer.

King David danced and all the Israeli people danced too, when they left Egypt and passed the sea. They danced to celebrate God.

I'm preparing a solo for an assessment which I've got on 4th April. Ive chosen to use 'Dare You to Move' - Switchfoot as my song. I've got just under a minute, I'm actually trying to choreograph for the middle of the first 60 seconds as I'd already choreographed some of it and it happened that some of it fitted in really well to the music during the first 20 to 30 second and the other bit fitted in with the chorus. I had the full college day to work on it today but I'm not really a choreographer and so I only got a few more counts cos I really struggle to choreograph. I came up with possibly another 16 counts and if I've got no ballet tomorrow I'm going to play around with one of my motifs and develop it. I might record it and post a video once it's finished :)

Dancing should only be avoided if you're terrible at it.

I'm more of sitting still and just tapping my foot sort of chap, though I have been known to do an awkward shuffle to some Glen Miller after a long night's drinking.

Haha I'm so bad at staying still now! I'll be in tescos with my iPod on and suddenly have the urge to do a pirouette in the middle of an aisle. I've also started to realise that when I'm at the orthodontist, when she's working on my brace and it hurts I'll point my feet hahaha my mums noticed that too! I never fail now! Everytime!
