If you want a good example of dancing used specifically to glorify God, check out Ballet Magnificat. My sister bought their interpretation of the story of Ruth on DVD and it was pretty awesome stuff. Ok, so they need help in their music and costumes department (at one point they even used music from The Barber of Seville, you know the one you hear so often on Bugs Bunny? Totally ruined that scene for me
), but other than that... It's been a couple of years since I watched it, but in one of the pieces a lot of the dancers were ears of corn, and they pulled it off! It wasn't corny!
Also I've also been to a Christian dance conference before that was super, they had tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern, hip-hop, break dancing, and African dancing, maybe others but I don't remember. It was really wonderful, dancing together with fellow believers, you could clearly see everyone's love for God expressed through dance. One of the things I enjoyed most about it was the spirit of excellence portrayed by everyone, they went all out and worked their tales off, indeed they were very professional, not tacky at all.
