It's a good thing that there are options. I've read about children home alone needing to fend off bad guys intent on harm. Those who are sensitive to muzzle blast may be better served with smaller calibers in order to hit their target, their food, their enemies to save lives of family members. Those politicians who have no problem eliminating tools like that from everyone but themselves talk about ammunition capacity like they have some sort of moral high ground. All it does is endangers those who need it for self defense.

As an adolescent/ young teen, my Mom ran to my room screaming. She was awaken by a strange man in the middle of the night. I grabbed my weapons of choice and told her to hold up in my room while I save my brother and clear the house. I had no confidence in the local police so I didn't even call their office.

I only had a single shot 410.
I also brought a small commemorative Pittsburgh Steelers baseball bat for the follow up shots when the high capacity assault weapon eventually runs dry.

I checked my brother first. He was still sleeping. Then I cleared the house room by room, closet by closet until returning to my bedroom.
Thank God, everyone was unharmed although Mom was shaken up. I found that the intruder broke in through the locked basement door. He escaped out the front door of the house because it was wide open.
My old neighborhood was dangerous. I was invited to move after as a child, I killed the 7th event of armed men invading our home. They also, paid for the move and new house.

I'm surprised to see the Virgin Islands so high. They are mostly visited by tourists and I heard that the Islanders were stable these days. That said, I did warn my friend to exercise caution and get outta Dodge immediately if there's ever a political radicalization. There was a time in the 80s when the locals took machetes and killed all those they considered political enemies at the time. Good reason to have a firearm for self defense. Unfortunately, their laws are those of Washington DC on the US islands.

You've seen more action as a young person than most soldiers.
Good for you! Glad we're talking now instead of those criminals continuing to destroy families.

Who were these invaders?

Straight from the lips of our Lord Jesus....
Luke 11:21

“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are in peace."

And, with a little exegesis...

But if that strong man {ischuros - strong in wisdom and alertness}
has been completely armed {kathoplizo}, he guards {phulasso} his home.
Therefore, his possessions and loved ones remain undisturbed."
grace and peace .....

sword was the deadliest weapon in that day.
Only close up. Even a spear or javelin could be more dangerous than a sword. A spear was also much more useful against cavalry. Roman tactics included throwing javelins at the enemy troops then charging in behind the attack. It's much better to be harming your enemy while out of range of their weapons.

That's not all you never had....
lol It was a bad joke.
But i've never owned a gun in my life actually. I have shot a few guns and never really enjoyed it but i enjoyed the company of the people i was with.
And that's my whole experience with guns.
I don't know anything about them, i don't want to, i'm very happy without them for close to 50 years of my life and i'm pretty sure i'm not going to need them in the future either unless some sci-fi scenario happens where i have to hunt my own food.

I'm not. In places where people are not allowed to defend themselves, they're easy prey.

Jesus was showing by example of a parallel we find in this life.

Read it again.
What was Jesus saying was a good thing?

But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. "
Luke 11:20-21

I always liked the idea of guns as a kid. Cap guns were fun.
In the army I enjoyed being trained..

But, I did not see a need to personally own a gun until the day I was held up at gun point.
Years earlier my dad had the same thing happen to him...

But, we were just like you until it happened.

50 years of your life?
I was not held up at gunpoint until about 60 years of my life.

“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. " Luke 11:21

In case you are wondering?

Jesus Christ said those words.

And, meant it.

I understand your point of view but i have a different approach.
For example in order to avoid being drown in water, i simply avoid water. Easy.
So, i simply avoid areas with guns and things have been working out fine so far.
We all make different choices in life friend.

But..., don't deny the Lord's choice for others.

Is this true, or false?

Oh course not. I don't deny the choice for others. Why would i do that?
In fact i mentioned that if i liked guns, i'd move to Texas.
But since i don't, then i picked Massachusetts.

I used to live in Lenox, about a mile and half from Tanglewood.
