Hey Curtis, I've been wondering the same thing all week. I wanted to get a little icthus tattooed on the inside of my wrist, so people would know what i was about from when they first saw me and would start conversations etc, also i just think it'd be lovely to have something that represents him in my constant eye sight... but then I was worried, like is it allowed? I don't really mind what christians think if I just knew how God felt about it, but he's being kinda quiet about it ha....do you think it's ok?? And if so why?

I personally Dont have too big of a problem with tattoos but someone told me that with every different tattoo came a different demon.
Ill choose to believe them on that one. Wouldnt even want to risk that sort of thing so ill never get a tattoo.
How can you be sure that there comes a demon for every tattoo? I don't think demons would like us to share the gospel of Christ on the back or on our arms for example. It is like with music, some Christians says that metal and rock is evil, so well, should we listen to that too then? If there is a good Christlike thought behind it, it can also be used for God's glory.

Hey forgivenandloved, I believe what she was saying was not literal demons, but figurative. As in, if you get a tattoo and regret it, it becomes a demon in your life. Or if you get a tattoo it can be a reminder of a hard time. For some people, a decision like that made when they're young can turn into something they regret later... a demon.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Rachey. That was just what I got from what you were saying.
But if one chooses to make a tattoo of the Cross, why should that be something to regret about?
Unless they would turn away from God, but then that wouldn't have anything with their tattoo to do.

I have too much respect for my body, but I do not look down upon those with a tattoo, unless of course it is of questionable location.

Hi

I'm new to the website. As far as the tattoo goes. I think you should get it. The Lord looks at our heart and our intention. Why did you get the tattoo does it glorify me or does it not? So really think about it because it is a permanent artwork on your body so if you want to get it make sure that you know it will be there for the rest of your life. I have one with my favorite scripture as well, Psalm 23!!! And I love it and don't regret it

So a justification for not obeying God's laws is because nobody else is ?

A great conversation starter should be, "Hi". Not what's splattered all over your body. I managed to go 8 years in the military without getting a single tattoo. Trust me, that started some conversations. If I was going to tell everyone all about me with tattoos, I'd have to stand in a swimming pool full of ink.

Get use to that, it's a growing social trend, like something straight out of grade school. "Everyone else is doing it; so, it's okay for me to"! It's ridiculous...

have to ask, you dont cut the sides of your hair or shave i take it. your justified, if you do? your justification for that is??

We are justified by faith alone for without faith it is impossible to please God. Legalistic- dont do this, dont touch that, dont eat this, etc law doesnt save still .:) Love God, love thy neighbour , let a mans own concious write it upon ones heart.

Most people quote the verse from 1 Cor to cover a "No" answer on this one.
The verse in 1 Corinthians. covers sexual immorality in the church as a whole, not about the individual. How is that meant to link to tattoos being placed on the body??.. perhaps i shouldn't drink coffee or eat from Mcdonalds because caffeine and trans-fats is poisonous and addictive, and im putting it in my body. let's reference it to Corinthians! (not that addiction can't be referenced in the bible, but you get my point)
You can't just take a verse and make it mean what you want it to mean.. it's dangerous, and intentially or not, in a worse case scenario, it can create gospels within Gospel.

I am looking at getting a tattoo of my favourite bible verse, and a picture of the crusifix. Not sure wear yet either my arm or back, but have been thinking about this for a while. I mean it is a christian symbol and I want people to know I am christian, but is this a good way of showing off? What does god think?
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20

You don't have to mark your body up to get people to realize that you are a Christian. You should be able to tell by the lifestyle that you live.

That is true, but if the law is now wriitten on our hearts then should we not have a desire to keep his law instead of break it. Is that not why it says in 1 John that if we love the things of the world the love of the Father is not in us. If we love the things of the world then His law is not written on our hearts.

Dude, don't be afraid of some of the woo woo around this thread, demons in the form of tattoos? Please.

Being a person with several pieces, all I can say is your body is a canvas, and any bit of ink you get is a permanent addition to who you are, so choose wisely.

If you want to get drilled on, get drilled on. Don't be afraid, and don't take the advice of anyone who doesn't have any.

What if you thought of it this way? What if it is thought as decorating the temple of God instead of defiling it? I mean after all if what you get printed is not tarnishing the name of God is it still wrong? What if it can be used to help grab peoples attention and you could lead them to God? Is it still wrong then?

i do not think there is anything wrong with a meaningful tattoo. i have a tattoo of faith in chinese and english. it is a reminded that i should always have faith in god and that he will always be there for me and that my faith is my one tool i have that only i can control and make stronger. having the tattoo keeps me from trying to run away from what i believe if its on my body for ever. i say that if you have something respectiable and you are doing it for the lord then it is ok. things that will remind you of sin and the daily strifes of the world are bad. having something uplifting with you at all times can be bad:)
