Just because that particular 40 miles is flat does not mean the whole earth is. Also, from your ridiculous point of view, I suppose the flat earth still orbits.

I never heard a flat-liner say that the earth rotates. According to them it's the sun that rotates. Somehow the flat earth just happened to be tilted so that it faces the sun. Moon's flat too is what I've been told. Forget about debating with flat-liners, total waste of time. They're often amusing though trying to explain their wild theories.

PERFECT example of how most people now days have lost the ability of critical thinking. Spending too much time "soaking up the sun", on the "screen".

When u travel from the middle of a lake, to the edge of the lake, what happens? Do you fall off the edge of the Lake?:rolleyes:

But no. You are not able to comprehend it. Your brain has been marinated in CGI and PhotoShop. Where Fantasy becomes Reality ^^"

How do you explain this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tgxTCDjvBI

It is a video taken by a civilian grade camera.

Riddle me this: How is it possible to zoom, and draw the detail out of what the star actually looks like with a civilian grade camera?

How is it even possible if this star is supposedly 8.6 Light years away???

A light year is one year of travel at the speed of light.

Do you realize how far allegedly that is?
Obviously you know nothing about photography.
Almost any lens is designed to focus at infinity - that means that a lens can focus on something that is really far away (like the moon or a star).
There is absolutely no puzzle about this.

As for the concern about how many light years away some stars are - again go and learn some physics before bringing your pseudo-scientific conspiracy clap-trap here...

I appreciate you're with me on this, &, of course you're right about the total waste of time and the amusement provided within that wasted time frame. Lol. One point of clarification, a planet rotates on its axis - not a flat one, though - lol - while it orbits the sun, which Earth most assuredly does both, as I'm sure you know. :)

The point is the distance, and the ability to see the celestial bodies at the alleged distances despite atmospheric occlusion, and other contaminating factors that would render such feat impossible.

250K miles away, and yet you can still see in great detail the smalles craters on the Surface.

I can drive down the highway and barely see 10+ miles in front of me and I live in one of the flattest areas of the USA. I also do aerial photography and happen to have limited visibility there too. But you're telling me that the moon is 250K miles away and the other planets are much further away and a p90 camera can see them with ease?

What do you know about physics and intergalactic travel? Oh right, just what you have been told.

Go on and continue to drink that brainwash flavored kool aid you all love so Much.

So the moon and the stars must be less than 10 miles up then? Less than 52,800 feet?

here's a "civilian grade camera"

77camera.gif

((to say nothing about what lens/telescope is attached to it))

here's a very poor camera attached to a very big ((amateur-grade still, btw)) lens, too:

he's telling you that magnification and focal length have absolutely nothing to do with camera and everything to do with lens.

you might as well be arguing that a pilot can't possibly be flying through the air because he is wearing fruit of the loom boxers, and everyone knows that boxer shorts don't fly. well, sure, but it's the airplane, not the underwear.

I know quite a bit about intergalactic travel. There are two basic drives in your typical starship, impulse and warp. Warp speeds increase exponentially for each factor. You're a smart guy, I'm surprised that you don't know this basic stuff.

If the moon is almost a quarter million miles away, how can this cheap camera zoom in and FOCUS on the moon if it is truly so far away?

Walk trough the valley
Flat earth has been solved: Flat line is a medical term for dead. Doesn't actually mean flat: dead body. When did the earth flat line, when the world did, when Adam did. But it doesn't help to tell people the truth until they are willing to hear. Until then it's in parables to encourage to keep searching, hence flat earth...

Had a thought?
The tides exist only because of the moons gravitational effect.
Based on the volume of water involved, you could calculate the mass needed to
create this effect, and also based on the size of such an object, how far away
it would need to be to look the same size as the moon.

Based on these calculations, you could then say which model of the moon earth
orbits best fits the data.

Now I have not done the calculations by a moon but with a moon only 41 kms across
rather than 3,400 kms across, it simply will not have this effect.

Now if you say the sun is in a similar position to the moon and a similar size, then it
should have a similar effect on the water but it does not. Also what stops the moon
simply falling into the sun if they have similar pulls and similar locations in the sky,
yet in reality they do not.

I love these questions, because it is so stupid, it is a good joke to play with the
ideas to give ourselves some entertainment.

"they" taught us that the moon caused the high and low tides, gravitational pull you see? Sounds pretty smart until you factor in that they also say the strength of gravitational pull is relative to size. Given they also say "
The
Moon has approximately 1/4 Earth's diameter, 1/50 Earth's volume,
and
1/80 Earth's mass" (according to some sources)......then I guess I am stupid to wonder how is it that the moon has a stronger influence on the oceans than the earth? Could it be "they" are wrong?

If the Moon had a 'stronger' gravitational influence than the earth does on the seas, the oceans would be on the moon, not the earth. You don't need to completely overpower something just to have a measurable effect on it.

Tides are perfectly explained by the earth-moon system and gravity. Flatworld, on the other hand, has no explanation whatsoever for tides.

Not sure why anyone would think the earth is flat when you can see it from space

humans have a demonstrated & incontrovertible proclivity to carry on in various things that are clearly nonsense when looked at objectively.

I almost wish CCR (not Creedence Clearwater Revival) had a "like" button as I would, & do, definitely like your reply. An excellent point! To take it a bit further, recognizing it was implied in your reply, TheosLogos, not only can one see it from space; but one can see it is round from space. :)

Yes guys I guess sometimes we all see what we want to see when the truth may already be right in front of us.
