Hungry,
It is not a disc we live on. The world is a perfect square. It is 24,856.83612 statute miles long by 24,856.83612 statute miles wide; with the four points being the directions north, south, east, and west.
one line of longitude = 180° of latitude
1° of latitude = 60 nautical miles
1 nautical mile = 1.15077945 statute miles
1.15077945 statute miles × 60 nautical miles = 69.046767 statute miles = 1° of latitude
69.046767 statute miles × 180° of latitude = 12,428.41806 statute miles = one line of longitude
12,428.41806 statute miles + 12,428.41806 statute miles = 24,856.83612 statute miles
length = Longitude 0° line (southwest) + Longitude 180° line (northeast) = 24,856.83612 statute miles
width = Longitude 090° W line (northwest) + Longitude 090° E line (southeast) = 24,856.83612 statute miles
The reason you cannot see the sun continually at all times is because the word of God says that the greater light to rule the day.
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. Genesis 1:16
Remember, the sun is only passing above the world over the north around 93 miles up. Then it rises and goes down only slightly above that while it goes over the south. It is just like the light of a buoy or a beacon that is used by ships to navigate. Those lights have a range; meaning how far they can be seen away from. A common range for those lights is two miles. That means that from over two miles away, you cannot see the light with the naked eye. But if you get your binoculars, from a few miles further away than that, you can see it. Why? Because the light from the bulb in that navigation aid only shines so far. In the case of the sun, which is around 93 miles up as it passes over the north, the reason you don’t see it’s light in Israel while it is passing north of (known as south of) Arizona, is because just like the navigation aid, you can only see the light for so far. And you wouldn’t even be able to see it from Arizona while it is passing north of (known as south of) there (or would just be able to see a very small light going by the horizon around June 20), if the firmament didn’t bring it up into view (causing it to have a very high elevation angle in the sky); because it is so low to the ground, compared to the breadth of the world. So that is how the sun shines light much further away from itself than it otherwise would be able to do (without God commanding it), if it were not being raised by the firmament into your view of it in the sky. Even then, how high it is raised, obviously it’s light is only seen then when you can see it in the sky (and just before and after seeing it on the horizon at sunrise and sunset). That is why you don’t see the sun across the whole world at all times.
And then posthuman, your “contradictions, deceit, willful blindness, ignorance, lies and misdirection” is beginning to be seen even clearer in your post #170. The answer is because the moon does give it’s own light; just as the word of God says.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. Genesis 1:14-19
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41
And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. Revelation 8:12
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light. Ezekiel 32:7
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. Isaiah 13:10
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matthew 24:29
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, Mark 13:24
Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. Isaiah 30:26
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. Isaiah 60:19,20
And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Revelation 21:23
And yes, just like the firmament raises the sun and the stars up from the horizon to be seen, much longer (and if at all) than they otherwise would be able to be seen, it also raises the (view of the) moon up from the horizon for you to be able to see it when you do – even during the day if it is not drownded out by the light of the sun.
And PennEd,
There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 1 Corinthians 15:41
That means the light from the moon, that is different (a different glory) than the light of the sun, cancels out the radiation (heat) of the sun faster than it goes on it’s own (in the moon shade). That is why it is cooler in the moonlight, than in the moon shade.
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Isaiah 45:7
So KnowMe, posthuman, Dino246, and Hungry, continue on with your jokes, your hatred of the truth, and therefore your misdirection. I will continue to believe in the truth that shines from the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
Glory to God.
