How do you explain why Jesus Christ prayed to the Father if they were one Person? The Unitarian Monotheist position is not coherent.

10.Marcion teachings 110-160 AD

Marcion coined the terms Old and New Testament. This term “Old Testament” is in the KJV only once in 2 Corinthians 3:14. The term “Old Testament” has now replaced the correct term of “Ancient Covenant.” That “Ancient Covenant” has been “renewed” by Christ. The term “New Testament” has replaced the correct term of “Renewed Covenant.” In relation, the current Covenant is an invitation by God's own Jewish people to enable Gentiles to be grafted into the Kingdom of God (the olive tree). Paul was of the tribe of Benjamin, an Israelite Jew. See Romans 11:17 In truth, how can Gentile religion reject the Jew? (Romans 2:10)

By replacing the word “covenant” with “testament” Marcion and other pagan theologians wrestled Jeremiah 31:31-34 away from the foundational teachings of Jesus Christ, and His apostles. Marcion also divided Jesus and His followers away from God the Father and turned Christ into a self sustained deity that opposed the (by Marcion's own terms) the “Old Testament.” We can thank Marcion the heretic for implanting such contrary values against the Unified and Eternal Word of the living God.

This is about Marcion also but it is involving Polycarp, who I mentioned earlier, who had a major problem with Marcion saying that “he was the firstborn of the devil.” But, Marcion's “Jew-free,” “all-Gentile” churches became very popular among early Gentile Christians, and one of the largest Christian denominations on earth. Marcion was inventor and/or the major contributor to dispensationalism, supersessionism, and replacement theology – all of which are extremely popular among the vast majority of Christians today, preached in nearly every church.

Dispensationalism is an approach to Biblical interpretation which states that God uses different means of administering His will to people during different periods of history, usually seven chronologically successive periods. It attempts a literal interpretation of Scripture with a pre-millennial and pre-tribulation rapture view. It sees Israel and the church as distinct bodies.

Replacement theology teaches that the church is the replacement for Israel and that the many promises made to Israel in the Bible are fulfilled in the Christian church, not in Israel. Replacement theology, also known as supersessionism, essentially teaches that the church has replaced Israel in God’s plan.

God willing, next will be Tertulliann's doctrine, who lived between 155 and 230 CE.

Does it really matter what they did hundreds of years ago?

What does matter is who do you say Jesus is?

Is He God or just a man?

Your Salvation is NOT based on what Marcion taught or believed.

That is Mormon theology. Jesus wasn't praying to Himself any more than we do. Jesus was totally infused with His Father's Spirit.

I, and my Father are "One." Jesus said, and our Savior also created all things. (Colossians chapter 1) Now to get our grey matter really working, put this scripture into the equation.

"And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all." 1 Corinthians 15:28

Christ, The Messiah is the right arm of God. They are a "Unit of One." We are made in their image, and we have a body and spirit of motivation, with a (hopfully) discerning soul connected with our brain. We are not two people or entities, and neither is God and Christ.

Jesus a few times said He only did that which God gave Him to say and to do. He further elucidated by saying it was for our benefit that He said specific things, such as when He prayed here:

Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me." John 11:41-42

Why are you worried about Mormon Theology?

Jesus the Son of God was on the Earth praying to God the Father. What is so hard in believing this?

You have to understand what and who God is. God is a life form which we cannot understand. God operates totally outside of everything we know or will know.

The best way to describe God would be a being of total energy, total Love, unlimited intelligence. Energy so great that you would be vaporized in an instant if you stood in the presence of God.

I believe its by this energy that is God that has allowed us to exist. He is the very fiber of everything. Everything is held together by God.

AMEN!! This reminds me of the conversation Jesus had with Philip.

John 14:8-9
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

It certainly isn't the physical eye that enables us to see. We are to look at God's character through Christ. AMEN again.

jesus saves no more and no less, now if the holy spirit truly lives in me then he will guide me to all truth. as far as festivals are concerned, if they are important to you great, but to make out others who dont believe the same to be somehow deficient is not acceptable. If here just to promote judaism, festivals or any other type of celebration then do it in a way that doesn't condemn people that dont agree with you. As for marcian there are no records as all were destroyed as far as my studies tell me, and all we know about him is what others have said about him including polycarp,

also as the thread seems to be about deception it seems more fitting to move to conspiracy forum

Believing Israel is fulfilled in the NT body of Christ.

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three distinct persons in the one God.
None are the other, and God is one.

“The God of the Old Testament could not have been omniscient, otherwise He would not have asked, “Adam where are you?” (Genesis 3:9)

refuting Marcion.........
It is written that God is an all merciful and loving Father; therefore He gave Adam and Eve a few moments to compose themselves before having to approach Him. They had fallen into transgression, were devastated and ashamed, as illustrated by their nakedness. But, with an apparent brazen hatred towards the Almighty (perfect) God, Marcion and Christo-Paganism invented a false religious premise from which they fashioned their own god unto themselves whom they named JeZueus.

LOL....this claim that the name Jesus is related to Zeus in any way is hilarious and has been discredited.

As I said, delve much below the arguments of some Hebrew Roots Movements/Sabbathkeeper assertions and you find all kinds of weird conspiracy theory assertions.

Dr. Michael Brown has a PhD in Semitic Languages. If you wish to counter his assertion, please state your academic credentials or the credentials of those you are quoting. Here is his summary on this issue:

In this one short sentence, two complete myths are stated as fact: First, there is no such name as Yahshua (as we have just explained), and second, there is no connection of any kind between the Greek name Iēsous (or the English name Jesus) and the name Zeus. Absolutely none! You might as well argue that Tiger Woods is the name of a tiger-infested jungle in India as try to connect the name Jesus to the pagan god Zeus. It is that absurd, and it is based on serious linguistic ignorance. - See more at: Ask Dr. Brown

It's amazing how many individuals make lingistic assertions with NO understanding of the original languages and think they should be considered credible.

Read closer, I'm not promoting the name Jezues. Nor anything else that is heretical. I'm refuting these falsehoods. I repeat "But, with an apparent brazen hatred towards the Almighty (perfect) God, Marcion and Christo-Paganism invented a false religious premise from which they fashioned their own god unto themselves whom they named JeZueus." this post

Ignatuius and Marcion have been presented, so lastly is Tertullian having great influence, who lived between 155 and 230 CE. I quote from the OP
Many religious customs within the Christian churches are based on counsel of the “early post- apostolic writers” like Ignatius, Marcion, and Tertullian. The fact is that these men have shaped Christianity into what it is today. The most common theme from these founders of the Gentile church is that they severely opposed Jewish culture and law, as do most Christian pastors today. Most church founders appear to have been utterly unable to distinguish between Rabbinical Tradition and Torah observance as taught by Christ Jesus and the Apostles.
Tertullian was born into a mainstream Gentile pagan family, but became a devout Christo-Pagan. Like Marcion he also found mainstream Christianity intolerable so he set out to make broad sweeping reform. Accordingly, by those who have researched his influence on the church, Tertullian was “distressed by the envy and laxity of the clergy of the Roman church” so he joined with the Montanist (also known as the Cataphrygian Heresy) founded by Montanus.

Montanism, known by its adherents as the New Prophecy, was an early Christian movement of the late 2nd century, later referred to by the name of its founder, Montanus. Montanus was formerly following the pagan mother goddess of fertility named Cybele (similar to ishtar/astaroth Deuteronomy chapter 1) where he learned plenty of things to adapt into Christianity. One of the achievements was to fall into a trance and prophesy under the influence of the “Holy Ghost,” insisting that his utterances were the voice of the “Holy Ghost.” Modern day “tongue-speaking” Pentecostal or Charismatic denominations apparently have very similar experiences to those of the church of Montanus. As Montanus' theologians and influence advanced, he was joined by two women who abandoned their husbands to follow the call of his prophetic ministry. The following website tells the story of these women.

In these “end times” it is imperative to understand that these three men, mentioned on this thread, are “pillars of the Church.” Their teachings have influenced every soul who has ever called themselves Christian in the last 1,800 years. These church founders who are venerated by Christendom displayed unfathomable resentment toward the original followers of Christ who were Jews – not because because they just happened to be Jewish, but they “accepted Christ without ceasing to observe the old law.” Certainly there are exceptions, but still today the vast majority of Christianity maintains a very deep-seated, vitriolic anti-Semitism towards Jews and the Torah law which was planted within the Church by such men as these.

If anyone thinks that the times have changed between then and now regarding the “Christian” disdain for authority of the inerrant Word of God, here's a quote from the head of the largest Christian institution on the earth.

“The fundamentalist approach is dangerous, for it is attractive to people who look to the Bible for ready answers to the problems of life. It can deceive these people, offering them interpretations that are pious but illusory, instead of telling them that the Bible does not necessarily contain an immediate answer to each and every problem. Without saying as much in so many words, fundamentalism actually invites people to a kind of intellectual suicide. It injects into life a false certitude, for it unwittingly confuses the divine substance of the biblical message with what are in fact its human limitations.”
(Quoted from The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church; Pontifical Biblical Commission, presented on March 18[SUP]th[/SUP], 1994)

Contrary to the wickedness of religious men God declares “man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.” Deuteronomy 8:3b

Our Father in Heaven wants us to look to Him rather than “old time religion” or “the new science” that claims to have all the answers for humanity but is progressively destroying the earth and setting forth greater and greater immorality.

“Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.” (Deuteronomy 32:46-47)
