Evaporated milk? diff version ba yan dliz, usually it's condensed milk mix with all purpose cream. Mas masarap ba ang evap gamitin kesa sa all purpose?

Kare-kare

That is what "Kare-kare" is, but for me it will always reminds me of how GOOD God really is to me.
After mount Pinatubo erupted our family financial went to negative so my father's only choice then was to
apply for an engineering job in Saudi Arabia. Western Union is not available way back so there were chances
that his remittance were late most of the time.

I experienced going to school hungry and I'm too proud to asked help from a friend who's mom is the owner
of our school canteen. Until the time that I feel so weak for not eating any solid food for one whole day and
still need to go to school so I will have perfect attendance which was required as a ranking student like me...
I'm crying inside and even forgot God exist because I'm so hungry until my friend insisted that I have to go with her
and accompany her during lunch time. She took so long to finish some school work which is just a minute for me :)

I was offered free food and there's no way a hungry 'me' will deny it but then the food looks awful to my eyes.
Looks like I'm seeing muddy vegetables with meat in a bowl. I have no likes with vegetables as in I feel a deep repugnance for vegetables at that time but my stomach was in protest.

I took my first taste. Filled up my spoon with hot rice atop spoon was that muddy vegetables
with that a small piece of meat and stick soup that I was wishing at that time I will not throw up
and be embarrass in the school canteen but in some miracle once it touched my tongue I heard angels singing "Hallelujah" ...

... and from that they forward Kare-Kare become my favored, most dearest and best-loved food everrrrr (^_^)

The end .. hehehhe

Kare-kare is nice, although we do not have it often. I just passed by laing, posted by Psalm23. Was picky as a child, but by highschool was eating most veggies. They were good after all. I learned to eat taro leaves (gabi) much later, but see it is very alkaline-forming and the root is also made into poi in other countries. Now this i havent tasted, but its as good as yoghurt daw, those fermented stuff we need. I dont remember if someone posted ginataan in this long post i visited a while ago, but the chunky taro roots and pearly tapioca balls are really nice in there.
