Of course I'm not saying we "deserve" good things in this life. We, as Christians, all know what we deserve.

I very much disagree with many of your points Buff, but we all speak from experience, so I'm wondering what yours have been.

I don't know what you've been through that have made your views on women so harsh, but I can agree to disagree with you and wish you the best. Maybe the years have mellowed me a bit more (or maybe I'm just getting old :)), but I had a lot more anger when I was younger and maybe you are experiencing that as well.

well, I certainly deserve to spend eternity in hell without God...
and I certainly deserve to spend this life without God, or hope in this world...

regarding asking nicely for my husband to love me as Christ loves the Church...no.
that's between my husband and the Lord, as he has been commanded to do just that.
(he just happens to be great at laying down his life for mine
on a daily, which makes submitting to him a joy)

and don't be too quick to judge the Christian women of the continental US, of whom I am one--:)
our three unmarried daughters aren't (forgive the term) femi-nazis, either.

a final thought...should this word 'deserve' be included in the vocab of either gender who are to be servants of all?
because, frankly, I think I see some implied 'deserving' from some of you young guys here...

take it as from a mother, even if she be not deserving of any honor. :)

The fact that you went through so much trouble to specifically make this thread NOT about people in general but women instead gives off the impression that you have something against women, and that they need to "get it through their thick skulls" not to get any bright ideas about removing themselves from any harmful situations because they don't "deserve" better.

Then you go and say things completely opposite to this, and unfairly insult seoulsearch and call her silly and nitpicky and suspicious for daring to question your motives for making this thread.

I am utterly confused. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to get some kind of verbal abuseish reply from you.

I'm NOT saying that Christian women or women in general shouldn't be treated nicely but just that they shouldn't use the word "deserve." Also, I know God wants us to treat each other nicely but that doesn't mean we deserve it.

We always hear women(in general) say that they "deserve" to be treated a certain(nice) way. And what I'm about to say is something only Christians can understand and if your not Christian then you have no right to say anything because you don't understand.... So here I go...

Women don't deserve anything, we're all sinners and what women deserve is actually hell. We know this as Christians. We know that mankind, both men and women deserve hell cause of the evil we are all guilty of. (Also, as Christians we know that we received forgiveness of this fault through Jesus Christ and thus Christians go to heaven not because we deserve it but because God loved us enough to die for us to pay for our crimes). So, why are women saying that they "deserve" to be treated nicely? That word tells us that women are entitled to be treated nicely... just because they were born. (That's clearly the context it's said in) I think pride is the reason why they use that word. And as we Christians know we're all born into sin. <---- please don't nitpick on that, just agree with me that we're not perfect and eventually sin someday.

Note: There is one circumstance where there's an exception. And I'm not sure if that's the only exception but it's honor your father and mother. I also remember scripture that says to give honor where honor is due. So, only a mother deserves to be treated a certain(with honor) way... and to make it more accurate... I think it's ACCORDING to how much honor she actually deserves. (due)

So, I think the solution is simple. I think Christian women should just stop saying the word "deserve" anymore. And I imagine most of you would agree with this... there's no argument here and if you want to argue... I won't argue much because of how clear and true this is. Unless... there's some point of truth (non-argument point) that I completely missed. I'll be happy to say to accept my mistake.
Try telling that to God when he made woman from Adams rib, God knew that women deserves to have life just as much as man. otherwise God would not made woman.

I fall on my face before God who sent Jesus to save little old ME, when I don't deserve salvation. That's Love. God shows us the ultimate example of looking beyond what we don't deserve as people (note: people, not women) through Jesus Christ.

You're making a pattern out of these threads that center on all the things you find wrong with women.

Is it more edifying to tell people they don't deserve things, or is it more edifying to demonstrate God's love to people who don't deserve things? Don't get me wrong, I understand that we need to share the Truth, but your approach is absolutely terrible. Where do you get off on telling Seoulsearch that she's just wrong or telling Arwen she just doesn't understand? We need to be building each other up.

It may be less controversial to say that there are some forms of treatment nobody should accept and that they should (where possible) be protected from.

I'm no fan of how women behave, in general, these days. I've voiced my opinion about that plenty. But this thread...

I dunno. I'm tired of bitter-sounding men wanting to make darn sure we women know our place, and we're not even married to the men doing this. It's tiresome.

I'm sorry about giving you that impression. I do have women on my mind right now. My main goal is to show everyone that there's pride in the word "deserve." I don't think only women have thick skulls... I think we all do when we're not aligned with God. Aside from that... I think women are smart in certain ways that men are not.

I wish I could talk to you face to face so I can explain better... I'm not saying something opposite... It's hard for me to explain if you don't already know.

It's like this.... men and women are to be treated nicely because that's what God wants BUT we don't deserve that nice treatment. Does that make sense?

I think when a woman uses that word "deserve", she isn't appreciated as supposed. When they put in so much into something and gets no "you are the best" definitely they feel they aint getting what they deserve. Like I said, thats what I think.

Seoulsearch was black and white wrong... there was no other way to say it. I'm just being honest.

I don't think there's anything with me making threads about things that might be wrong in some women.

But I think my execution can be better.

^ Okay this actually clears up a lot of things. Thanks for explaining the bigger picture. :)

And no hard feelings about the past threads. Sorry if I came off sounding suspicious. I'm sensitive and stuff....so yeah.


On the original topic...I don't think I've ever used the word "deserve" for myself ever. There are things I will not tolerate because I think they are poisonous to my spiritual growth, but I am understanding that that is different from the word "deserve". I never really thought too much about the term before in a Christian context.
