Looking back at the mistakes I've made in my own life, Robo... I can't say this is a bad idea!
I've gone on some dates but haven't kissed anyone (except on the cheek in greeting, if that counts) for over six years... general anxiety and fear of getting close to someone because of bad relationships and poor choices... so if that counts in any way, it looks like I'm headed down that path!

I was friends with a couple that didn't kiss until their wedding day, and it worked for them, but I don't think it works for everyone. I would never base a relatioinship solely on chemistry, but I do think it has to be there (see the various threads about attraction) - and some guys have chemistry-killing kisses. You think you like them, until they slobber all over your face. If I want that, I'll just get a puppy.

I think that's the line of logic many people follow, sadly...
But I've always been of the opinion that, if you've never been with anyone else, how will you know they're bad at it, or that even you are? It shouldn't matter if you have nothing to compare it to. And, at least with kissing, I've been told you can improve. But I'll have to take their word for it, because I wouldn't know.
