1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John, the whole epistle talks about how to determine born again believers vs. sinners. and it says that if a person continuously lives a sinful life, they are not of GOD. But if a saint sins, they can come to GOD and HE shows them mercy....
1Jn_2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Remember John is writing this epistles to already born again believers....people that have followed the commandments of GOD to the best of their ability in order to live a good wholesome life before GOD.
You might want to learn the Context of 1 John.
Sister it was written ot a leader that wrote John on the Island of Patmos about ther heresy that was going on, the place of gathering was divided.
There were Gnostics in this group that did not beleive that Jesus came in the flesh, and since they believed they did not have a sin (carnal) nature since all flesh is evil as scripture states it is, they ddid not see with the exception of Christ's flesh
So read it from 1 john 1 on and see how John starts out this epistle
[h=3]1 John 1:1-10[/h]King James Version (KJV)
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
[SUP]
2 [/SUP](For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
[SUP]
7 [/SUP]But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
[SUP]
8 [/SUP]If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
[SUP]
9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
[SUP]
10 [/SUP]If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Oh and also tellme where it states after admitting Christ did come in the Flesh and admititng to have sinned. It statesw then we those that were in error will recieve the forgiveness of sins yes?
Tell where does it say to do this over and over again if one sins again?
As a matter of fact there is nowhere in the New Testament after the death and resurrection of Christ that anyone is asked to get forgiveness from God over and over again, please find it for me, in the New Terstament after the death. Any apostle that states to askj for more forgiveness from God after they recieved the forgiveness provided at the cross
And yes we are to forgive one another as Christ Forgave us. So I guess Sister we will only forgive others as much as we thinnk God has Forgiven us? Now since God has forgiven all I forgive all in response to God.
Before the cross we forgave to get forgiven after the cross we forgive because we are forgiven
The same with loving one another. Beforew the cross we loved to get loved and this is still the way of the world. But not with God, we love becasue God first loved us shown by Christ at the cross and the most powerful part is the resurrection
Love you deeply Sister
