By suppressing law, sin is promoted. Paul in Romans 7:7: I had not known sin except by the law.
Sin brings:
* Dishonor to God
* False Gods
* Desecration of God's Name
* Desecration to God's Day
* Dishonor to parents
* Violence and harm
* Unfaithfulness and adultery
* Theft
* Dishonesty
* Covetousness
Sin exists not only in the externals but also in the heart.
Sin brings sorrow. Sin brings suffering. Sin separates from God.
"The law is good, if a man use it lawfully...The law is ...for...the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons..."
Christian's can use the law for self-examination and reminders to repentance which are good to practice even daily.
Law continues to serve a purpose. Unbelief is sin. Many do not believe. Many sin. Christians can grieve away the Holy Spirit. Sin separates us from God. We need more of God's presence and not less.
When one becomes aware of the law in self examination one thinks sinful thoughts and after awhile these thoughts take control and sin is produced while one does not desire to sin
Galatians 6:8For he who
sows to his
flesh will of the
flesh reap corruption, but he who
sows to the
Spirit will of the
Spirit reap everlasting life.
So what are we to do?
[h=3]Galatians 5:16-23[/h]New King James Version (NKJV)
[h=3]Walking in the Spirit[/h][SUP]
16 [/SUP]I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. [SUP]
17 [/SUP]For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. [SUP]
18 [/SUP]But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
[SUP]
19 [/SUP]Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, [SUP]
20 [/SUP]idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, [SUP]
21 [/SUP]envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told
you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
[SUP]
22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [SUP]
23 [/SUP]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
