Nautilus Well as a democratic christian...while those things may not be right for me as a christian, I'm not going to deny it for everyone based on a single religions rules especially considering a good percentage don't even follow christianity. people can I grow up and make their own choices. They don't need people being the morality cops for them. Someone wants an abortion or someones gay? Well its their life and their choices.

Who knew you could just "sit around" and force people to become Christians!! Maybe we should inform the "religion of peace" they can stop burning down Churches, torturing and beheading Christians, and others, they MUST convert or kill, and after friday prayers declaring yet another day of rage, they start a muslimchat site and "sit around" preaching muhammed, forcing people to Islam!

There aren't good or bad parties. Each of them carries something good and something bad. This is due simply because parties are made by men and women and we know that no one is perfect. Our duty I suppose is to try to change what we don't like of our party by for example writing to parliamentaries (I did it), stay active in our communities. It's too easy to complain and do nothing to change the situation.
Regarding your democratic party, I'm against abortions because life is life but I'm not against gays and lesbians. They are our brothers and sisters too so why shouldn't we accept them? They are sinners like each of us. God loves everyone without looking at our sexual orientation.

I think this pretty much says it. I agree God does love us all but can you please explain to me how you can close your eyes to continuous sin? I can see forgiving the sinner when he repents and stops the sin and then that sinner becoming clean and pure in the eyes of God as if he had not sinned. But continuous sin, I just can't see God turning a blind eye to it.

I kind of look to a government for some kind of moral compass, I think. While I agree with Nautilus that I don't want to force a person into this decision or that based on law, I think I look for a government to share in core beliefs and I'm sure I vote for candidates that most closely mimic my own Christian values. Someone asked one time whether "my Jesus" would deny health care to the poor and while I wasn't sure what my Jesus would answer, He most certainly wouldn't have enforced it by the sword of the Roman Empire.
I'll try and explain this to you Naut. See, your def of "forcing Beliefs" (Christianity), is someone proclaiming the Gospel to people in various settings. Beginning, middle and end of "forcing". Juxtapose that, with true force by some OTHER religion, that burns, maims, beheads, and other assorted mahem to convert, and hopefully you can understand my post and the absurdity of yours. I am very happy to see that you rely fully on the shed blood of Jesus Christ for your salvation, and hope and pray that YOU TOO proclaim that Gospel in various settings!
actually my definition of forcing beliefs since you randomly just made up what you thought it was...is passing laws that affect an entire nation and cause them to live according to your view of scripture. Examples would be abortionbans or gay marriage bans. If you dont want them dont get them. But dont legislate morality for a people that dont care
Interesting definition. What law bans a homosexual from getting married? A homosexual may marry anyone of the opposite sex, he or she wishes, anywhere in America. It is YOU trying to "force" YOUR definition of marriage, which has NEVER existed in 6000 years of recorded human history, and YOUR immorality, on Christians. You also want to change the definition of murder, by saying innocent unborn children should be chopped to little pieces, vacuumed, and thrown away if it is unwanted.
