Since I developed diabetes, Im having alot of trouble with wounds, sores healing.
My surgars are under controll, but any injury to the skin, or sore, takes forever to heal, and even if it does, the skin remains dry and breaks open easly.
Im useing a good moisteriser that is natural, but any ideas to promote healing of skin?
I have some sores that have not healed from last july.

I would be very greatful for any suggestions.:)
Thankyou so much. :)

Thankyou letti, Ive done all except the teatree oil.
Is it safe to apply teatree oil directly to the skin?
On the bottle it says not to do this, so Ive only added to my bath so far.

Thankyou so much

Have you try green barley before? It has proven to treat many diseases like diabetes. For more info check this site.

When ever we have and open wounds we use antibiotic ointment and then wrap with gauze and tape. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea or not. Do they recommend the wound be uncovered?

Urine. When you wake up, instead of going to the toilet, fill a glass or bottle (that you won't be using again). Apply this to your wound several times a day. Try to leave for 10 - 15 minutes before washing off (if you must wash off at all).

I'm no expert, but I'd say to change the bottle contents on a daily basis. Apparently, this was a practice used since ancient times, and is also taught to soldiers in the army. Important hint: admit this to no one.

I don't have damage to blood vessels due to diabetes, but my veins are damaged resulting in sores that will not heal just as yours are. When there is good blood circulation around a sore, it will heal. I do everything the doctors say to do to promote circulation, but I have added some alternative medicine ideas that seem to be helping.

I put whole lemons in the blender (I have a vitamix) because of the flavonoids in the peel. I keep this in the freezer and make lemonade out of it daily. I also add some fresh ginger root that I keep the same way, by mincing it in the blender and freezing it. I use a little water in the blender to help it mince finer.

Garlic is a wonderful help, but it needs to be raw for the best. Hard to take, and I don't trust the pills. So I mince it in the blender, freeze it, and take it like taking a pill. The dose is three cloves daily.

Vitamin C and E are both helps in strengthening blood vessels to improve circulation. But when you take vitamin C, the body does not retain it so the help it brings is very short lived. The body also uses only a tiny bit at a time and gets rid of all the rest. I buy it in powered form and put it in the water I sip during the day.

There are two powerful supplements to help. Alpha-Lipoic Acid and L-Arginine.

If the sore is where you can bind it tightly, it helps the old blood that surrounds the sore go away. Mine are on my legs, I had heavy elastic stockings made to my measurements so my legs are tightly bound.

I have also found that vibration of the area helps, even if my doctors says it doesn't. One person uses ultrasound. I use a powerful vibrator.

Pickles - Coconut oil. I had a bad time with eczema for about a year. I faithfully used coconut oil over the dry patches that would not heal for several months. It did not break me out and with prayer, healed my skin!! Coconut oil is antibacterial and antifungal.

I use the Spring Valley Coconut oil (12 oz.) - a little goes a long way, especially since it is usually in solid form (like soft butter) but will melt if the air temp is around 78 or higher degrees. Then it becomes oil, which is still usable on the skin.

Spring Valley Coconut oil can be ordered off the internet or purchased at WalMart for approx. $10 - 12.

Oh and also I noticed if I ate less sugar and simple carbs, and ate more green veggies (especially cucumbers), my skin improved. And coffee, tea and soda made my skin worse too. (tends to create an acidic environment and also dries out the skin)

God Bless,
Karol

side note married_Richenbrachen: I hear urine is what the soldiers used when they had athletes foot disease in the war. In the shower they urinated on their feet. Urine is made up of ammonia (are there any chemists out there?)

When urea decomposes, it releases ammonia.

Ok, couple questions (feel free to answer in PM as privacy is kinda important hah)

1- what degree of 'wounds' are you talking about? red sores like spider bites? open skin bleeding wounds? deep tissue wounds?
2- what have you done so far to them?
3- have you sought any medical treatment?

ADVICE- please do NOT use urine it does NOTHING medically to heal. thats just -.- ugh. DONT
Do not use anything that says "not made for direct contact of skin, etc" on your SKIN. especially if you havent used it before thats just not very smart.
Do wipe the wounds (all though this may sting) with an alcoholic wipe to steralize, then, if it is a open wound, cover with a burn ointment as someone mentioned above and cover with gauze and preferably medical tape (general materials in any First Aid kit which you should have!)
and please for pete sake don't touch it, scratch, rub, or irritate! hot water baths/showers will do this, so be careful.

also take a good quality multivitamin every day to give your body the extra things it needs thats probably not getting from the weakened immune system.

prayers for speedy healing!

Thankyou Redtent, have been doing most of what you spoke to, except the acids, Ill look for them at the health store.
Ive started drinking a tea made to improve cirrulation, so hopefully it will help.
Have the vibrator for both feet and legs, Im just really sensitive to any elevated surgars, I suffer neropathy if my surgars go above 100.
Im just glad I have an agressive dr for this, as my previous dr didnt think I had diabetes.
Every persons surgars run at different levals, my moms were considered only borderline untill she went blind, and her heart started to fail.
I just want to stay on this, in hope of minimizing the effects, Ive lost 20 lbs the last few months and hope to lose more, as this may be my best help.
Thanks for all the advise redtent. :)

Thankyou April, I have been using a burn ointment as to mimnimise wound irritation.
The wounds for the most part are closed, just red patches about the size of a dime to a quarter, some have scabs still.
They are just very fragile and reinjure easly, and seem to take forever to heal.
Any small bug bite, scratch, or punture will cause the wound, and it just keeps being red , sensitve and easly reinjured.
I do see my dr next week, so will learn more then.
Thankyou for the advise and help. :)
