You realize one of the reason health care providers charge so much for insurance now anyways is because hospital prices go up as they need to make money for the uninusred that already go to the ER and such and dont pay. You're already paying for others, you just don't realize it.
That is only part of the equation. Any type of insurance in which you have A-Z coverage is ALWAYS very expensive. Part of what people never seem to get when you submit a LOW DOLLAR claim it always ends up costing MUCH more in the long run then paying cash in the first place. For example you have a to a script, you go to Walgreens, they charge $15 for the script, you have insurance with a $10 co-pay. Walgreens has to ADD to the cost of the script to cover both the person that has to do the paperwork for both the claim and the payment,so instead of it costing you $11 cash it's now $15. The extra added costs comes when the bill gets submitted to the insurance co. Now you have two to three more people handling that claim, all for a $5 difference on the bill, add to that the cost of the insurance co having to pay the employees, buildings, heat and electricity and profit, that script if NONE of the stuff that has to be added BECAUSE of the insurance for paying a SMALL bill would be added to the cost. That script in the long ends up being over $20 or MORE just from the ADDED COST OF HANDLING the insurance. A lot of the comprehensive insurance premiums goes into PAPER WORK NOT health care to take care of small dollar items.
