You realize one of the reason health care providers charge so much for insurance now anyways is because hospital prices go up as they need to make money for the uninusred that already go to the ER and such and dont pay. You're already paying for others, you just don't realize it.

That is only part of the equation. Any type of insurance in which you have A-Z coverage is ALWAYS very expensive. Part of what people never seem to get when you submit a LOW DOLLAR claim it always ends up costing MUCH more in the long run then paying cash in the first place. For example you have a to a script, you go to Walgreens, they charge $15 for the script, you have insurance with a $10 co-pay. Walgreens has to ADD to the cost of the script to cover both the person that has to do the paperwork for both the claim and the payment,so instead of it costing you $11 cash it's now $15. The extra added costs comes when the bill gets submitted to the insurance co. Now you have two to three more people handling that claim, all for a $5 difference on the bill, add to that the cost of the insurance co having to pay the employees, buildings, heat and electricity and profit, that script if NONE of the stuff that has to be added BECAUSE of the insurance for paying a SMALL bill would be added to the cost. That script in the long ends up being over $20 or MORE just from the ADDED COST OF HANDLING the insurance. A lot of the comprehensive insurance premiums goes into PAPER WORK NOT health care to take care of small dollar items.

Common sense conservatism. I love it. JimJimmers for President unless Jimmy can provide an economical solution.
My opponent who is seeking the nomination of this most-beloved and most-esteemed party, the Gauntlet Of Power, has been identified driving a 93 deville through the ghetto while wearing a top hat and monocle, in an attempt to be mult-cultural. His extreme liberal tendencies to feed the poor the cold and hardened cheese from his burger wrappers will bring and end to the good reputation of this party.

I may not be able to provide to you an economical resolution for restoring your Bentley, but with money like ours what reason is there to be economically responsible? As many poorhouses as there are, I submit this fine establishment should just close the poorhouses and raise taxes on the poor so we can buy Bentleys for the entire party. Not like the poor need all that money, they can get a job. Besides, what are they going to do with that money? Eat? Hah! Everyone knows the poor don't eat, and look, they're still alive! The old Bentleys can be set ablaze outside the Greenpeace office, only to be deposited in the nearest drinking water resevoir next to the Coal Ash mudslides.

Also, my opponent has a serious deficiency in his ability to maniacally laugh and gut corporations of their assets and money through venture capitalism only to add the gold boullion to his collection of stolen items.

Now if you will allow me to pardon myself, I have a home to buy for my 6 year old neice.

Also, to back my street cred just look at how many likes I have received and how few I give. It shows I am greedy and unwilling to part with likes.

Yes, because America can totally afford to go into even more debt. All Americans know that we need a new healthcare system. We get that. The problem that has come with Obamacare is the unconstitutionality. I don't know what your news is saying over there or what you are hearing....but try actually listening to Americans who have to deal with this every day. Our cultural and sociological contexts are much more different than yours. Our worldviews are different.

1.) The majority of Americans don't feel like paying for something we already cannot afford
2.) Obamacare is unconstitutional because it is FORCING people who don't have insurance to go on Obamacare. And if you don't, you have to pay a fine. That sounds like extortion to me.

Those are the top two main concerns. I have no problem with helping the poor...but that job belongs to the church, not the government. The government is NOT Jesus nor is it the Church. Are there Christians in the government? Of course! But in no way do I expect the government to take on this role nor do I believe they should.

So people hate the poor if they don't want to give money to a bad steward of money called the USA government, so they can "give people health care"?

Pretty much....

Honestly, if you're not willing to educate yourself on both political sides, and actually educate yourself on what's going on in the US, please don't comment. You don't know the whole story. Just like I probably should not comment on Australian or French government because I am not educated on it, and don't fully know what goes on over there, and who is truly causing those issues. Like you, I'd probably just be going off of word-of-mouth. Don't fall into it, and don't believe everything you hear.

You are so right, Ken! I just get more and more boggled as to how the American system really works. It seems to be at war against itself. And doing the wrong things for the right reason. Or the right things for the wrong reasons? Or the wrong things for the wrong reasons???
Angela, in a word, you are a family; we are a corporation. Every American is a shareholder and has the right to demand what he wants. If he convinces enough people to want it with him, he gets his way. There is no right and wrong here, only preferred and not-so-preferred. Further, we defeated the King of England at the height of British naval power (and think of you as poor weaklings by comparison); therefore, we must protect our aggressive nature at all costs, or we may be conquered ourselves.

Americans dislike any government, because to enforce any law, the government must be more aggressive than the citizen (who did not get the majority on his side when the law was passed). That embarrasses the citizen's personal aggressiveness. The health care law is particulary open to attack, since it was passed under lies and duplicity, which are forms of aggressiveneess that were not needed by the signers of the Declaration of Independence, from whom we draw our inspiration for this whole psychological game we call a country. This gives both sides a legitmate right to claim the law is proper/improper.

I kind of make my way by Rev. 13:10, since I know whose picture is on the coin, and the law, and the .gov website.

overall, i'm just sad that one political party has somewhat successfully branded themselves as "the party of conservative christianity"

when in actuality, they're a political party.

Christ wasn't a democrat or a republican or even an independent.

He's a Monarch. King of Kings. He's not "elected" or "voted for"

i just hate to see people talk about politics as though one faction "has god on their side." it's a false association.

My opponent describes to a T(ea Party) what is wrong with this great nation. I firmly believe that, and will continue to do so until I make him my vice president and declare that we're not all that different.

BUT FOR NOW:

My opponent never once suggested bombing anything in his dissertation. This is inexcusable. Also, he sounds awfully unconcerned with fueling up his fancy cars. Diggs is afraid to say that he wants to drill for oil anywhere is exists, even if it's beneath a baby harp seal on a protected glacier. Can we handle such a wishy-washy president?

JimmyDiggs. Wrong on taxes. Wrong for America. (And every other country except France.)

I'm beginning to think Australians aint too bright! David, you live on an island, you just elected a guy who said he's gonna stop ALL immigrants who get to your island and deport them. Your country has 23 million people. How bout you take out 30+ million ILLEGAL immigrants, and we'll see how well your healthcare system works, not too mention your education system, your penal system....

Not funding a program is a legal means, as it is the Congress that is appointed by the Constitution to appropriate funding.

It was legal to kill Jews in Germany in the early 1940's. Some laws may be legal but immoral.

If the shut down drags out it may plunge or weak economy back into recession, stocks have dropped and continue to do so, hurt native Americans, forestry personnel are at home during fire season, small business loans won't be available and the list goes on and on.

You might be OK with this sort of black mail, but I am not. I think it is an act of sedition, to shut down goverment over a political squabble and certainly no Christian should be a part of it.

1Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2

I agree Dan, that is why obama and the democrats should stop hurting the American people and pass the 8 bills the GOP house (who were ALSO elected) has sent them to fund the gov., and negotiate like Presidents have since 1972 SEVENTEEN times! Here let the great Senator from Texas explain it to you.

I am not familiar with this subject. I refuse to sign up for any political party. I no longer vote.

If you ask me, this is why a two party system is detrimental to our nation. It polarizes people into an us or them mentality. I have seen Christians snared by politics to the point it becomes all consuming for them. I am in the world, not of it. My focus is on bring the hope of the gospel to a dying world, which will soon vanish.

As I remember, Obamacare was passed by a congress that was a democrat majority...and it barely passed. In fact I believe it was a Nebraskan senator?...who was bribed to vote for Obamacare with an exemption from Obamacare for his state?

The passing of Obamacare also led to the Tea party revolution and a take back of Congress by republicans.

I do not believe Obamacare is constitutional. I have no idea why the supreme court said it was.

Again I must stress, Obamacare will not help anyone. You could go to any emergency room and get care before Obamacare. There was another bill that would have lowered insurance rates without involving the government, in fact it would have the government involved less, but no, the self serving, power craving Congress not only voted for this obamination, now the republicans are willing to compromise and pass some of it. ( the reason why all so called conservative republicans should have their Barry Goldwater cards revoked )

The two party system would work...if we still had two parties. I was never a proponent of abandoning the rep. party before but this fiasco, this destruction of america called the Obamaclouldcareless bill has shone the light on their lack of true conservatism and we need a new party.

I know all the huffington post, mslsd and the clinton news network people don't understand but its Obama who is causing the shutdown, not the republicans.

Incarceration rates

"c." (circa) indicates that the figure is approximate.

I don't understand Australian politics either, as I do not expect you to understand American (and they are vastly different). But I do know a few Aussies, and I base my question on what they tell me. So, just how well is your free health care system working? And why does everything in Oz cost 1/3 more than in America?

The U.S. has nothing to brag about...

There are 36 countries in the world that rank better, Portugal (12), Italy (2), Ireland (19),Greece (14) and Spain (7)among them (remember the PIIGS?).

yeah, the thing that gets me about this is you can't make people understand that nothing in this country is free. when a service is rendered, someone somewhere has to pay for it. i'm speaking of business, not the Church. so I fell it is un-Christian of the democrats to take my money by force to pay for someone else to have healthcare. just let us vote on stuff like this as a nation, then that is fair.

Hmmm, when someone without health insurance goes to the emergency room for a headache and racks up a $1200 bill to get a couple of aspirin, who do you suppose pays for that? Well Mr. gb9, your health insurance premium this month will be $1400. Will that be cash or check?

We are already paying for those without health insurance and fro the hefty profits insurance underwriters make.

Obamacare is unconstitutional and passed by unconstitutional means. It is not the law of the land as it violates our the ultimate law on which our Republic rests.

Common sense conservatism. I love it. JimJimmers for President unless Jimmy can provide an economical solution.

It is never too late to stand up for righteousness. See the life of William Wilberforce.

Whether you like it or not it is law now and by the way, it passed in the House.

There were a lot of things that USED to be law, but now are Not, such as slavery,on the bad side or abortion being illegal on the good side. That's the whole point in trying to stop it. The law was passed without a single GOP vote, the Chief justice of SCOTUS may have been blackmailed into voting to uphold it. The American people don't want it by a large margin. Let's call our reps to keep the pressure on to get rid of this nightmare,

I haven't seen where defunding a program is killing a bunch of jews with the intent of eliminating a populace. Care to back that up? It was also illegal for many decades in this country for blacks and whites to marry. I suppose that was perfect moral, right? We are to obey the law of the land until it asks us to disobey God.

If the shut down drags out it may plunge or weak economy back into recession,
Never left it. We're still in a recession, and it's going to get dramatically worse if the debt keeps piling up.

stocks have dropped and continue to do so, hurt native Americans, forestry personnel are at home during fire season, small business loans won't be available and the list goes on and on.
Ever pulled a bullet out of your flesh? It hurts, but in the long run it's better for you.

It's not merely a political squabble.
