Why are we allowing our government to trample our Christian values?

2 Peter 2:1-6 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

What has happened is that we have separated our religious thoughts from the everyday life that we live. We have (not on purpose, but by deception) labeled Israel as a failure when it came to keeping the law of God, labeling God’s instruction for peace and prosperity as a failure also. We see in the above scripture that judgment came upon Sodom and Gomorrah for practicing immorality, and we see in our current administration deception like never before. (I speak about the United States only) We have numerous scandals that have arisen with no answers or accountability in literally every case.
The scripture below tells us clearly, if a nation practices the statutes and judgments that God gave to Israel they would be seen by the entire world as having wisdom and understanding. Also in these scriptures we can see ourselves in that we are suppose to look at this Biblical Israel, and emulate these things that we read about in the scriptures. We know by the records of events, written in the Word of God, what caused Israel to flourish, and what caused them to diminish. It’s not hard to comprehend, and it isn’t a fairy tale of times past. We have separated those things from the Christian faith saying they were for them and not for us, or it’s all a thing of the past and doesn’t apply because that was then, and this is now. Look how far we’ve come. Seems like the more progressive we are, the faster we drive in reverse.
Deuteronomy 4:5-6 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

This is where our thoughts diverge. You say it's because (we) have labelled Israel a failure. I say it's because we have and continue to support and enable such wickedness. Who is right and wrong on this issue probably should be left for the other threads that discuss this, but I think we can both agree that this issue needs resolution before solutions can be realised in our own countries.
I also think that the immorality has been planned. Our nations are and have been wicked to indulge in iniquity, but where has the temptation come from? I say it was designed, as Balaam taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin and bring judgement on themselves.

Agreed. I would also add this immorality and iniquity isn't coincidence. It's being driven. Hollywood, TV programs, education centres, etc. Who is funding these? How is this funding available? Answer these questions, and you'll get closer to unmasking the true enemy (who ultimately is the devil, but he has his agents on Earth).

Something about that penny found. Something about that "Yay a penny." Reminds me of Solomon's Ecclesiastes, in paraphrase: Enjoy the common, simple things of life, honest living, hard work, and God's goodness.
I've been reading about this hate campaign in the military. But I read on FB today, the government is backing off. Sorry, no link, I have so many American friends, I have no idea who might have posted it.
One thing, is when you actually read about the military press release, it was more about a certain organization, rather than all evangelical organizations, although I did hear that Southern Baptist chaplains and Catholic priests were forbidden to talk about God for a while there.
