If messages are conflicting then there is some concern because the message is coming from somewhere else. Would God be concerned about answering such trivial questions that serve no benefit ?

Which is worse..... a false prophet, or a false judge? Think that a false judge will not receive the same judgement? I wouldn't DARE say God didn't speak to someone.....How can the creation say to the Creator, "You don't speak to men anymore?" The Sovereign Lord does as He pleases!
I would definitely not say that it was "impossible" for God to speak to someone in any particular way that He chose; however, based on my understanding of the scriptures regarding "how God operates" - I would say that this is something that should be scrutinized very carefully and seriously - and not believed "lightly"...

:)

I agree wit dat

I use three adjectives when it comes to this point. There are times that I think God has told me something, there are times that I believe God has told me something, and tgere are times that I know God has told me something. I would not relay that message unless I "KNEW".

God has spoken through His Son.
everything He has said to men, He has said.

read it.

coming from a Pentecostal who claims direct revelation, your post is expected.

anyone claiming to speak for God or direct revelation from God is a false prophet.
there are no more prophets.

do what you want with it.

(see Strange Fire Conference...or innumerable threads on this matter).

I wouldn't DARE say God didn't speak to someone.

i wouldn't DARE said He did.
i wouldn't DARE say He told ME this or that.

millions have no problem at all doing so.
read the revealed word to see what happens to false prophets if they don't repent (presuming they can).

In the Bible, God spoke to sinners & through sinners, but now He can't speak to His elect?

He has spoken.
if you think He is still speaking (to you...which you do or you wouldn't be a Pentecostal), you're a prophet...and we should be listening to you. and writing down what you say and adding it to canon.
every Christian should know your name and have copies of your revealed information.

post it here please:

thanks.

This is what i get from many here

GOD gave us the bible it is sufficient for us, indeed it is. But what about the Holy Spirit? Is not the bible but a piece of paper with written words without the Holy Ghost pouring out life on particular verse that help us GO FORTH and PRODUCE FRUIT.

Is not the Word of GOD made Alive through the Holy Spirit?
There is no new revelation to GOD but there is to man from GOD. Revelation is divine understanding from the Holy Spirit that increases FAITH, opens our eyes, God helping us view things from HIS perspective and gives us even more hunger for GOD.

of course the Word of God is made alive through He Who Authored it - The Holy Spirit.
no one that i know of has ever said otherwise.

God has spoken in His Word.
The Spirit will not direct anyone into their own hearts or minds for knowledge of the Lord, unless that heart or mind has been filled with His Word, which is recorded in the God-breathed scriptures.

i agree with what you posted, amen.

...

there is no room there for new prophets claiming God speaks to them today...claims by babes in Christ who don't know anything about what he has already revealed make (more than) dubious claims about direct revelation. no way.

I believe God speaks to me. I have taken different routes to a destination - come to find out - I had avoided being in an accident due to listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. All revelation is not for EVERYONE nor should it be added to scripture - God speaks to each of us born again of His Spirit. He leads us through scripture and direct communication. Fellowship with God is a two way relationship -

Why is it considered that if God speaks to someone they are a prophet? If I have a tough decision to make, I go to God and discuss the situation with Him and ask Him for guidance - why wouldn't He do that? God is our Father and desires fellowship with his children - I talk to him - why wouldn't he talk to me?

Oh, OK, let me write a bunch of threads, & I can be right, too!

i wouldn't DARE said He did.
i wouldn't DARE say He told ME this or that.
If I were YOU, I wouldn't either. Yet you state things & judge others like you are God's judge. What's the difference?

are you claiming you hear God speak to you audibly - you have direct conversations with Him?:

"Peaceful, this is Jesus....i heard your prayer about the job, and i think you should take the 2nd job."?

this is not about answered prayer or direction and instruction through the Scriptures.
it's not about trusting through prayer and receiving peace and confirmation when we have done according to His will.

Why would a dream or a vision "from God" not be considered to be "a word from God"...???

:)

Oh I GET PLENTY of that, but I also get the WRITTEN WORD ON MY HEART and IN THE BIBLE, and also the SPOKEN WORD in my heart AND EARS... Hey God LOVES the FELLOWSHIP... FELLOWSHIP IS A TWO WAY STREET, not ONE WAY... NObody argues that visions and dreams are not God's Word... they are God's Word in 3D... and VERY REAL and VERY SCRIPTURAL...

You state that all prophecies should be listed in the canon. That is false teaching, & marks you as a false teacher for teaching this to gain status for yourself. There are multitudes of things referred to in the scriptures, but are NOT in the canon, including prophecies! This alone is proof enough that such teaching is false.

Yes, I am claiming that God speaks to me. I found myself out of work and of course I prayed for a job . . . I had three likely job opportunities lined up - great jobs BUT instead of waiting on God I took it upon myself and went to work @ Burger King (nothing against Burger King but for a 54 year old not so good) . . . anyway I hated it! I got two interviews - one with a real estate/title company . . . one with the city. When I went to the interview with the city - I knew I had the job. It's like a "subtle thought" . . . "don't go to the other interview - you will get this job". Again, I took it upon myself to go to the other interview, and they hired me - I hated it! Two days later the city called and hired me - I have been here 8 years and I love my job! Should have listened to God in the first place!

The above is just one example of how much better off I would have been if I had just listened and waited upon God.

What is it then that pastors & evangelists do?

preach from the Word.
in it is the power of God.

not your fake words of knowledge and tongues.

Oh, OK, let me write a bunch of threads, & I can be right, too!

you have....you're still wrong.

If I were YOU, I wouldn't either. Yet you state things & judge others like you are God's judge. What's the difference?

ALL OLD TESTAMENT REFERENCES DELETED - DISHONESTY AND RECKLESS MISHANDLING...typical.
how long will you behave as though you haven't been shown the truth of this matter?

here's why OT references deleted - in case you've never read it:

Hebrews 1
1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

NOW YOU'VE READ IT....no excuse.

He called and authorized apostles and disciples who were witnesses of His life and resurrection (why don't you know this yet?)...and they recorded their AUTHORIZED testimony.

the Book is Finished.

you're not in it, and you're not authorized to speak for God.

don't you actually read the bible? or is it a book of tricks for you to carry on as you do?:

The Parable of the Rich Fool:

Luke 12:20 (KJV) 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

^ that's Jesus Christ speaking....in a parable....^...taken from a proverb.
the jews knew it. do you?

Mark 12:26 (KJV) 26 And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

see above.
more trickery by you.

John 9:29 (KJV) 29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.

Acts 7:6 (KJV) 6 And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

AUTHORIZED APOSTLES AND WRITERS recounting authorized OT prophets.

and why are you quoting SCRIPTURE to prove God is speaking to YOU?
(He isn't, except through the scriptures).

Acts 27:25 (KJV) 25 Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

21Since they had been without food for a long time, Paul stood up among them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me and not have set sail from Crete and incurred this injury and loss. 22Yet now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. 23For this very night there stood before me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, 24and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before Caesar. And behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ 25So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I [APOSTLE PAUL] have been told. 26But we must run aground on some island.”

are you claiming to be like Apostle Paul?
why didn't you quote the context?
oh....it doesn't work for you that way...does it Stephen?

Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV) 1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us (the church) by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

what's THIS? ^^^

He has spoken to us by His Son; through His chosen; and by them, through the God-breathed Scriptures He ordained THEY RECORD.

you're not in them; you're not an apostle; you're not a prophet..and God is not speaking through you.

2 Peter 1:20-21 (KJV) 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

have you actually read that whole book?
written by CHOSEN AND AUTHORIZED EMPOWERED FROM HIGH PETER.

you weren't at pentecost; you didn't receive that power; you're not an apostle or a prophet; God is not speaking through you; you're not receiving new revelation.

it's evident you shouldn't even be a pastor, since a Pastor/Teacher needs to be able to RIGHTLY HANDLE the WORD OF GOD.

1 Corinthians 12:3 (KJV) 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

what's the point here?
more rubbish claims that cessationism denies the Holy Spirit indwells believers and affirms the Deity and Person of Christ?

you weren't at Corinth; you didn't receive those partial gifts.
God is not revealing NT doctrine and instruction outside what He already revealed through His AUTHORIZED WITNESSES.

God is no longer speaking to His elect?

yes.......and, case in point......God told me that this thread would end up one such as it has...... :)

Revelation? Prophecy? Well, probably not, more like a "warning."

FELLOWSHIP IS A TWO WAY STREET, not ONE WAY... NObody argues that visions and dreams are not God's Word... they are God's Word in 3D... and VERY REAL and VERY SCRIPTURAL...

how can any of that be true when you still say you're unregenerate?

You state that all prophecies should be listed in the canon. That is false teaching, & marks you as a false teacher for teaching this to gain status for yourself. There are multitudes of things referred to in the scriptures, but are NOT in the canon, including prophecies! This alone is proof enough that such teaching is false.

Benny Hinn claiming God speaks to him, or your claim God speaks to you is proof enough?

no dear, it is not.

to gain status for myself? most people DESPISE cessationism.

they love your stuff though.

And then there are the Christians who say to throw out all of the law and go by the HS, and what God tells us. Don't need to check that out with scripture, we are to be led by what God tells us, our minds are so pure and wonderful after we receive the Holy Spirit that anything that comes into that pure mind can be trusted.

It's like a "subtle thought" . . . "don't go to the other interview - you will get this job".

"like a subtle thought" is not you claiming God is speaking to you audibly - in a one-on-one conversation.
i have no issue with your claim.
peace out.
