Another concerning thing with me as I continue to wrestle with and struggle with these tough verses which appear to link baptism to salvation, is that so many seem to be interpreting through the lens of a secular, anti-supernatural bias. And as I stated in my previous post, others are reading these verses without tying them to the overall context of how God works grace/faith/salvation/forgiveness/repentance in the heart.
Those in favor of infant baptism actually sound more like Arminians, because they're bold about verses that show repentance as a first cause that comes before justification.
New Covenant - for you and your children.
He assumed the children would
remain the faith - as Paul exhorted Timothy to do.
do not forbid the little children (greek: infants) from coming to Me - the Kingdom is made up of such as these.
Israel knew what He was talking about....they were baptized first.
New Covenant.
Matthew 28
18And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
that's what He said.
it's plain.
i don't really care if people believe God saves infants.
what i care about is if they make light of baptism....though i care less and less each day.
my world gets smaller...every day.
