No, respect their beliefs. If they think Christmas is the left-overs of a pagan celebration, respect their consciences and don't tempt them to sin against it. Maybe you could talk them into Hanukkah gifts. Jesus went to the temple for Hanukkah.
so....don't celebrate christmas, but give hanukkah gifts?

hanukkah isn't mentioned in the Bible.
when did The Lord ordain that holiday?

John 10:22-23
At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem; it was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon

a festival about the temple being cleansed.

but, Jesus said:

John 8:12
I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life”

dunno.

I don't do much with Hanukkah, other than with Latkes (Fried potatoes). That's one thing I love about Hanukkah is all of the fried food. It's indirectly mentioned in Scripture, but not a commanded holiday. A lot of people will casually try to replace Christmas with Hanukkah and still do a lot of the Christmas-y things.

wouldn't it be a shock to not examine all of these things as to whether they are or not correct then after teaching these practices to all of the innocent children have god tell you you were the one who slew the children with doctrines? its curious how the present world instead of directing its holidays and customs toward the adult population focus on children who do not know better. the stakes are very high,if we are incorrect and teach our children error,,,,well then we slew our own babies,,,,,

With right judgement, your only here to stir up trouble, and ask random questions, like you usually do in every other thread pretty much. I might have missed a few you haven't, but so far, I observe you and others on here. Guests are watching us as well...if you didn't know
I only need God to watch me and the truth is the truth hey They hated Jesus and thought He was a trouble maker also but hey i dont need people to like me the site is to reason the bible and by sound doctrine silent persons like you with their false beliefs

Some may like me some may not but as long as they love the Lord i am well please with that
hmmm i think you are a troll watcher hmm you should ask the site for a job but if you say someone is a troll and they are not hmmm God judgement is on you

I wonder if others think you are a troll and not me hmmm but i wil not ever call someone that because through Christ i understand that everyone has a different belief hmm we may disagree but i will never call them that

take care and may you enjoy your paganism

Before you react too quickly, please take the time to read this comparison between the Biblical teachings about Jesus Christ and the mythical teachings of Santa Claus. Many, many Christian pastors have lamented the fact that Santa Claus has replaced Jesus Christ in the hearts and minds of too many children and adults in America today. When you read this comparison, you will understand that this replacement in the hearts and minds of Americans is not by accident. You will be able to see Satan, the Master Marionette, pulling the strings above the world, leading adults and children alike away from Jesus Christ and toward Santa Claus, who is the epitome' of the love of the world and everything that is in it.

Note: This comparison taken from "The GOOD NEWSletter", by Former Catholics For Christ, Oct/Nov/Dec, 1997. Clearly, you can see that someone deliberately created a Secular counterfeit to Jesus Christ, matching the many attributes of Jesus Christ with Santa Claus! There are too many direct matches for this creation of Santa Claus to have been an accident. We are told in Job 1:6-7 that Satan walks up and down on the Earth, as if it were a small garden plot completely under his domination. Satan can be thought of as a Master Marionette, pulling the strings on Earth. Certainly, in these Last Days, Satan would have wanted someone else to draw the attention, admiration, and love of the children away from Jesus Christ. But, not only that, Satan would have wanted to infect children early with that most devastating of spiritual diseases, the love of material things, and the love of oneself that goes with trying to get as many presents as possible! The creation and promotion of Santa Claus certainly fulfills all these goals. Santa equals Satan.

Now, please allow me to introduce to you another translocation of the word, Satan.

Santa. As in Santa Claus.
Not to forget, the Good works as a means of salvation over Faith in CHRIST..

Slight tangent, but one that could be applicable to those of you celebrating Christmas.....

At our kids' birthday parties, instead of giving gifts to them, we ask family and friends to give a gift or money to an orphan or a child in need. Our kids look forward to that every year.

That sure seems more powerful than kids getting gifts on someone else's birthday.
So you automatically assume that it never occurs to any
of us bad old "Christmas people" to help children in need?

You're trumpeting your alms on the internet for all the world to
see (Matthew 6), and suggesting that we all ought to take note?

[SIZE=+2]Yeremyah 10:1-6, "Hear the word which Yahweh speaks concerning you, O house of Israyl. This is what Yahweh says: Do not learn the way of the heathen and do not be deceived by the signs of heaven; though the heathen are deceived by them For the religious customs of the peoples are vain; worthless! For one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They decorate it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, so that it will not move; topple over. They are upright, like a palm tree, but they cannot speak; they must be carried, because they cannot go by themselves. Do not give them reverence! They cannot do evil, nor is it in them to do righteousness!"

1 Kings 14:23, "Because they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars and sacred poles on every elevated hill and under every green tree."

Yeremyah 7:9-11, "Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, vow falsely, burn incense to Baal, follow hinder gods you know nothing of, And then come and stand before Me in this House upon which My Name is called, and say; We are saved! Saved to do all these abominations? Has this House, which is called with My Name, become a den of thieves in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen this! says Yahweh."

Santa

http://www.av1611.org/othpubls/santa.html

You ever noticed how easy it is to transform "Satan" from "Santa"? Just move the "n" to the end. And presto! "Satan" appears. . . Hmmm….
An internet Google search on "Satan Claus" [not Santa Claus – but SATAN Claus] found over 1,700 hits! Obviously, there are many that tie the two together.
The rearranging of letters (called anagrams) to hide secret names or words has long been practiced in the occult. The Jewish Encyclopedia writes of the Jewish occult book called the Cabala:
The golden age for anagrams began with the Cabala. The Platonists had strange notions as to the influence of anagrammatic virtues, particularly of anagrams evolved from names of persons. It is not surprising, therefore, that the cabalists, like all the Neoplatonists, pretended to discover occult qualities in proper names and in their anagrams.

One of the most well known anagram in the occult world is the name of Sanat Kumara. Sanat is better known as Satan. Constance Cumbey, writes in her best-selling, new-age expose, The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow, ". . . they [New Agers] freely call Sanat Kumara (Satan) 'God'. And their doctrinal reference books by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and Alice Ann Bailey freely cross-reference Sanat Kumara with Venus. In occult writings, Lucifer and Venus are one and the same."
(Constance Cumbey, The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow, p. 138)
Texe Marrs writes of 'Sanat' in Dark Secrets of the New Age:
. . . the New Age offers a being called Sanat Kumara. 'Sanat' is obviously a thinly veiled reference to Satan; nevertheless, New Age teachers evidently believe that the new spelling will alleviate the concerns of those not yet ready to confess Satan as their Lord and Messiah.
(Texe Marrs, Dark Secrets of the New Age, pp. 79-80)
Interesting. . . Where does that put Lord S-A-N-T-A?
H.P. Blavatsky, the Satanist and new age teacher writes in The Secret Doctrine:
many a mysterious sacred name. . . conveys to the profane ear no more than some ordinary, and often vulgar [common] word, because it is concealed anagrammatically or otherwise.
(H.P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine, Vol II, p. 78)
Like S-A-N-T-A?
Blavatsky also writes, the name is not important – but the letters.
"The name isn't important. It is the letters."
(H.P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine, Vol II, p. 350)
Blavatasky’s anagrams were used to disguise who her true god was. Blavatasky openly taught Satan is mankind’s true redeemer, creator and Saviour.
And now it stands proven that Satan, or the Red Fiery Dragon, the ‘Lord of Phosphorus’ and Lucifer, or ‘Light Bearer’, is in us; it is our Mind — our tempter and Redeemer, our intelligent liberator and Saviour. . .
(HP Blavatasky, The Secret Doctrine p. 513) Satan, the Serpent of Genesis is the real creator and benefactor, the Father of Spiritual mankind. For it is he . . . who opened the eyes of the automaton (Adam) created by Jehovah. . . he still remains in Esoteric Truth the ever loving messenger . . .
(H.P. Blavatsky, The Secret Doctrine, Vol 3, p. 243)
Gail Riplinger writes in her excellent book, New Age Versions on the use of anagrams in the occult world:
Lucifer's True Identity as Satan is Revealed as the Anagram, a Transposition of Letters, To Obscure It. "Blinds," as esoterics call them, include scrambling the letters of a name to hide the true meaning of a word from the uninitiated.
(Gail Riplinger, New Age Versions, p. 52)
It is interesting Mrs. Riplinger also raises a red flag about the anagram Santa:
Gods of the New Age include Sanatan and Sanatsiyata, . . . New Agers say each name is 'concealed anagrammatically' 'and are aliases,' and are 'an anagram used for Occult purposes. Is Santa, the great usurper of Christ's attention at Christmas, an anagram? "Ole Nick" is listed among the fallen angels or devils in the Dictionary of Fallen Angels. Scholars concur that Christ was born in the fall on the 4th day of the feast of tabernacles. December 25 is actually "the feast in honor of the birth of the son of the Babylonian queen of heaven, later called Saturnaha by the heathen Romans.
(Gail Riplinger, New Age Versions, p. 52

HEY! What happened to the Christmas Parade?

thunderstorms[1].gif ...............Oh............

evil doesn't reside in the day or the celebration.......evil resides in the hearts of men...........

So, if for YOU Christmas is evil, then Praise God, do not celebrate the day............

However, for those of us who choose to celebrate God, the Birth of Christ on this day...........

DON'T BE RAINING ON OUR PARADE!

Goodness, live as you are led to live, believe as you are led to believe...........but don't try and force others to accept your beliefs.

Christmas has been celebrated for, well for quite some time, AND YET there continue to rise up generations of God fearing, God loving Christians ...................

Uhhh......no.

I think you're trying to find something in my post that's not there for the sake of argument. I didn't say or imply that it "never occurs", nor did I refer to people or imply that they were "bad old christmas people".

It was a suggestion, a different perspective for some. As I said at the beginning,

No one I have ever known who is a practicing Christian has ever thought of Halloween as anything to do with faith, but almost all my family and friends who do believe our Lord, Yeshua, do not and could not truthfully put Christmas on the level of Halloween. I think everyone here is aware of this.

No believer justifies anything about Halloween as being something Christian, however many do follow the harmless observance with no regard to any connection to satanism. Again, I believe everyone already knows this and making into some kind of controversy is just arguing for having something to post, base.

I have never liked Halloween, but that is my opinion. The same goes for Christmas, no tree, no gifts, no decorations, but I still remember Yeshua's birth on that day, and I feel the good will of so many who do love Him for Who He is.

oh,i never meant to seem as though i was "forcing anything on anyone",,,,the o.p. ask if we believed that he should or should not have a talk with his family member in regards to Christmas and if we thought it was wrong to give children gifts on that certain day. so in fact we as well as those who follow Christmas were both invited to state our opinions.,,

in the o.p. it seems to be only addressing "gift exchange" on that certain day but then in the last few sentences he states that "it takes away the true meaning of Christmas",,,so it seems unclear the position of the Arthur of the o.p.,,that is if it takes away from the meaning,,(giving/receiving presents),,,but notice there is no mention that the day is for any religious preference but rather that kids would "miss a part of their life" which would mean that (the author of the o.p.) assumed that as the children became adults they would no longer have the same view on the matter.

then he makes his final statement/question,,,,"i need some advice.should i talk to this guy and try to change his mind?If so,what should i do?",,,so the invitation for advice is opened in the o.p. by the author. ,,,this guy(his adult nephew),,,he(the author) ask,,,,"try and change his mind",,,,which is as you state "raining on his parade, forcing his religion on his nephew and family",,,,if you refer to my original response(post 25),,,it is completely devoted to "having others force their religion on me and my family",,,,it is a two way street,,,,,,,

[h=3]The Birth of Christ[/h]This research paper was design to edify anyone with an open mind and to help understand the birth of Christ. -Author: WebMaster

Research broken down into 4 steps:

Step 1 - Will give us an idea of which month is the first month of the Biblical calendar. With this in mind, it will help us calculate the month of Christ's birth.

Step 2 - Shows that Christ is six months younger than his cousin John the Baptist. Elisabeth (John the Baptist's mother) became pregnant during the time her husband served as priest. We will link this time to the Old Testament to find out what month that is.

Step 3 - Knowing the time of year that both Mary and Elisabeth (cousins) became pregnant, we then calculate the birth of Christ.

Summary - This will summarize the entire research.

[h=3]1. The beginning of the Biblical year[/h]A. Our modern day calendar starts with January which is the middle of winter. According to history, late March to early April is the first of the year, which is around springtime.

March (month), third month of the Gregorian year, according to the present calendar. March was the first month of the Roman year, named for Mars, the god of war. In England, until the Gregorian calendar was adopted in 1752, March was considered the first month with the legal year beginning on March 25. -MS Bookshelf 98

This table shows that December (the last month of our modern day calendar) is really the 10th month of the Biblical calendar. This will then make January and February the 2 last months of the year. March will then fall in the place of the first month of the year.

B. According to Biblical times, the first month given to the Children of Israel is called Abib or which is now called Nisan in the Hebrew Calendar. This month is a remembrance to them when God took them out of the land of Egypt and into the Promise Land. This they would have to do every year as the Passover.

Exodus 13:4
This day came ye out in the month Abib.

Exodus 23:15
Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)

Exodus 34:18
The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib : for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.

Leviticus 23:5
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.

Deuteronomy 16:1
Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

With our modern day calendar, Easter and Passover are celebrated during the months of late March and early April.
