True prophets, the men and women who God will anoint and ordain for these last days will not want recognition or even carry the title "prophet". When a person says that they are a prophet or prophetess, I would take them with a grain of salt. The prophets God will use for these last days will bring judgement in the church. It will not be a nice job. It will be like what happened to Annanais and Saphira, but only the tip of the iceberg. When you read the gospels Jesus tells the parables about his servants getting ahold of the "wicked servants" and binding them hand and foot and casting them into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
There are men today such as David Wilkerson who people say he is a prophet. Since he has not been accurate, he is not a prophet. He has NEVER called himself a prophet either, but, he knows that people call him a prophet. Where I have a problem with this is that he should post a message admitting that he is not a prophet. I don't think he has never done that and if a man or woman has been inacurrate and allows others to think that they are prophets, well, I really question this. Don't get me wrong, I really like David Wilkerson. To me he is amongst the best of men that we have today that are warning others of the wrath that is to come.
Also, you can just discern if a person is a prophetic. The word is truth and Jesus is the spirit of truth and it will bear witness with our spirit that we are the sons of God. (daughters of God too). If what a person is saying does not bear witness, ignore them. They can even be speaking the truth but is lacks the anointing of God. The word of God is already anointed, but, when an anointed person speaks the word that is already also anointed, it is like getting a double portion. It will pierce you to the heart.
