Like i said, if there is no men obviously a women will preach. The "ideal" is for a man to though. We can't just ignore God's word though. And you can't just say "the holy spirit did it" to everything. In that case the holy spirit told me women shouldn't teach in the church. Does that mean it is true? No. God's word is what means it is true.

xtinaz I am impressed to tell you to hang in there. The relationship with Yahshua Jesus only gets deeper, when we meditate on how lovely he is. He would have been born, lived thirty years ina hovel and been homeless for 3 years just to save you. It will be wonderful to see you on the sea of glass. I want to meet you at the tree of life and hear your story. It is uncommen for a 22 year old to have such a bond already, you have a great work ahead of you.
When all the troubles start and we are running for our lives, (angels with us) through the tribulation, it is said the young people will have the zeal the stamina and the drive to proclaim the message of love, faithfulness and loyalty to the Bible, the word of God and his thone of love. It will be awesome to work with you. I wish I had a granddaughter like you, maybe I can adopt you as a levite grand daughter.
A real chirstian is a being with infinite power, he/she is a being merged with divinity, and the face is glowing. All things are possible with these new creations, and Jesus says
You are beautiful, my bride, not one spot or wrinkle... I think a poem is coming, Ill see if I can put it up.

hang i there pray like you never prayed before
and LISTEN for what he says every time every moment every day.

see you at the tree...

*I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

It also is written in understanding we are men. We all speak with the same tongue. However when we speak through the spirit we prophesy. Everyone speaks with a different tongue through the spirit. You must first sit alone in the spirit at home and let your understanding come to light before you speak it in the church. I don't think cor 14 has anything to literally teach about gender but by reading the entire 14 I see that he wants me to hold my spiritual tongue in church till I have gone home and brought understanding out of it.

This all ties right back into the other thread about "abuse". Walk in righteousness and fear the Lord. Through wisdom find truth and by knowing truth we have understanding.

Actually, the word "pastor" is not really found in the New Testament, in Greek. The only word that is found is "shepherd" which is τοὺς δὲ ποιμένας or tous de poimenas which means "and some shepherds."

"11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" Eph. 4:11 KJV

There is no qualification by gender anywhere in the New Testament, even in the KJV. "Some" means those who are called by God. It means men or women.

Yes there is a qualification.

No it doesn't mean men or women Angela. The Bible is very clear that women are NOT to be pastors, bishops, deacons, or preachers. God's word, the King James Bible does not permit any woman to be a pastor or bishop or preacher.

Actually, it's not clear, which is proved by this thread. The whole reason it is debated is that the evidence for male church leaders is inferred. There is no "thou shalt not" regarding female leadership.

The lack of clarity is in people's feelings not in Scripture. As we see in much of this thread and in the title itself, things like support, feelings, etc. take center stage rather than a diligent study of God's word.

Two excellent resources are online, free, from CBMW, for those who actually want to study the issue. But most people on the internet, Christians included, would rather vent their human feelings rather than actually use their minds.

"The King James said..." ??? We do not know 100 per cent what Paul thought of this...and more importantly It is what God says that is more important. You have to look at the culture of the day that Paul states this famous...and often misapplied" verse. If a man ... or a woman...has been called...then they are called...and if they are, and disobey because of what people think...whi is more at fault?

Misty77, it is clear in God's word, the King James Bible.

Now in the modern versions, it may not be clear since there is a feminist agenda behind them anyways.

But it is definitely clear in the King James Authorized Version.

Hate to go off topic but the "Authorized" Version refers to the fact that this TRANSLATION was authorized for use in the Church of England. There are still a few dinosaurs around that try to make this somehow an authorization by God Himself.
And, yes, many modern versions have succumbed to political correctness to please the feminists by changing pronouns.

For those who use the NIV, stay with the 1984 edition. The new 2011 edition has gone off the tracks.

1Ti 2:11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.
1Ti 2:12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

1Ti 3:1 This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work.
1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach;

Tit 1:5 For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you—
Tit 1:6 if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination.
Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

Pretty strong inferences there.

I think life would be a lot easier if people just took the Bible for what it says. People wouldn't have to think that the Genesis story is somehow a metaphor or any other strange beliefs that come from adopting the philosophy of the world or catering to personal preference.

If the Bible said "Anyone named (insert my name) should not seek the pastorate" I would not seek to be a pastor.

I would not try to bend it to unnatural angles and say "Oh it doesn't say I'm not supposed to be a pastor. it only says I'm not supposed to seek it!" Neither would I try to say "Oh well, context is lost to us today!" simply because it is inconvenient for me or I do not understand it.

The same logic that allows people to say that women are allowed to be pastors is applied when folks say practicing homosexuals should be able to be pastors.

"The context is lost!"

"That doesn't apply today!"

"Surely there is freedom in Christ!"

"God is no respecter of persons"

Satan is truly a master of twisting Scripture and wrangling logic so that almost anything seems true and biblically sound. Stick to the narrow road, saints. The broad leads to destruction.

German doesn't have an equivalent of the KJV (at least they didn't when I lived there in the 80s). Does that mean that they aren't really saved? What about all the people before 1611?

When God promised to preserve His Word, that was over a millennium before English as we know it was spoken and before King James was a twinkle in his dad's eye. KJV happens to be a pretty good interpretation for one of the hundreds of languages (not including thousands of dialects) in the world, but it certainly is not the only one.

In my opinion, there are many things troubling the world (& Christian society), I highly doubt a female pastor is going to send the congregation to Hell.

I'd rather have a strong, level-headed, God serving female as my pastor than a so-so, ineffectual male.

But it's how the Word is received and preached that's important, not the sex of the speaker.
I agree, females should be ministers just as much as males are. Galatians 3:28 reads, "There is no more Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all one in Jesus Christ." Women are just as holy and just as unified with Christ as men are and can certainly be ministers. In fact, I grew up with a female minister in a Christian Reformed Church in Patterson, NJ.
