It's very unusual. I understand that the norm for here is in the 40s. I was just listening to Al Roker explain all of this. He said that a polar vortex is essentially an artic hurricane, and that the eastern Great Lake areas could expect around 3-4 FEET of snow before it is over. He said that later in the week it will begin to move back North and temps should begin to rise to normal.

OK, it's so cold that I'm freezing inside my house, no I'm not kidding, my house is old and drafty and freezing. I still don't miss 90 degrees and humid though. I can throw on another pair of socks.

The high for today was -19, with a -40 windchill where I live. I went outside so I could experience it. I can now say that I have felt temperatures ranging from -40F to 120F.
It's 72 and partly cloudy here. I'm posting from inside my car with the AC running while eating Del Taco for lunch. 
On the other hand, I have to be back at work in 15 minutes.

Though I don't mind this weather really, lol. Growing up as I did, I can drive through just about anything and not worry about it too much. It's a good thing though. I haven't seen snowfall like this since I was a kid. The past few years have been exceptionally mild, so it's nice to have all the snow back.

I just pray the pipes don't burst. Currently 4F = -15.6 C
Heavenly Father, grant us Your favor; help us all calm down in Your warmth during this Vortex. Sweet Lord, especially help and protect those in Canada & the Great Lakes region. In Jesus name, Amen.

It's so cold in Canada right now.............................. I saw a snowman throw gasoline onto another snowman and set him on fire (not to be cruel, but as an act of kindness!!!).
On a related note...................... funeral arrangements for that second snowman will be held this Wednesday and the service will take place on the snowy hillside on which he was formed. His remains will be packed into little snow balls, and thrown into Lake Ontario!!!

Wow, I'm getting corrected by a lot of Canadians in this thread. No wonder Americans never come here (because the personalities here are too "cold" for them!!!).
It's so cold that Toronto actually realized they were part of Canada, and are now screaming for advice from the rest of us on how to "winter" the cold.
As for Winterpeg, serves anyone right for living on the crossroads of all the Arctic fronts. My memory of Winterpeg was driving down the TransCanada in Jan. and having to stop to see if I was still on the highway by opening my truck door and seeing if the ground was still pavement, or if I had gone into the ditch.
We had -30 yesterday, C, of course. Today, we are up to -9C. Take that Ontario and Halifax.

I just watched this over the weekend. Although I don't cater to the viewpoints promoted by the movie, I love the soundtrack.
I find it comforting that regions of the country that are usually warmer than my part of CO are actually colder than us these days
We Torontonians always "knew" we were part of Canada, we are just too high class to admit it!!!

That's only if one is NOT from Detroit,then the closest part of Canada is South. (In that case though they think Canada is a SUBURB of Detroit)
