1. What was the last fictional book you read?

2. When was the last time you cried?

3. The last road trip I took was...

OK - Answer these three questions about yourself. No skipping! If you don't want to share, just wait until there are new questions. After five people respond (I'll start - - it's only fair), then whoever posts in post #5 will ask three new questions after answering the previous questions.

These directions seem complicated, but I think it will be clear once we start (famous last words). Here I go:

1. What was the last fictional book you read?
I am currently reading "Wildfire" by Nelson DeMille. Post-911 domestic terrorism thriller.

2. When was the last time you cried?
I read a facebook post from my 92 year old friend that shared that her sister had passed away and requested prayer. I prayed, expecting things to be quick and mechanical. While I prayed for my friend's emotional and spiritual comfort, I had a great sense of loss. I felt the loss of someone who not only appreciated the cultural things she lived out, but of someone who had experiential knowledge of all these things. She would have seen "Gone With the Wind" and other movie classics in the theaters. She would have heard about the attack on Pearl Harbor as it happened. She would have conducted She would have conducted "Duck and Cover" drills when teaching in the school systems.

Anyway, as I prayed about the loss of someone who lived these things with her, tears ran down my face. This used to happen all the time when I did intercessory prayer, particularly in groups, which I hated. I don't mind this, but I didn't like always being asked if I was okay. Apparently, God is bringing this back to my life..

3. The last road trip I took was...
Camping last year with the kids from the Sacramento area to a site near Crescent City in the Redwood Forest. We also made a detour into Oregon because it was there. The kids missed their pets at home, so they adopted a banana slug and named it "Fred." My kids are weird.

Your turn!

1. The Shoemakers Wife, I'm sorry I don't remember the author but it's a good read if you're looking for something new to read.

2. Last Wednesday at my cousins funeral. I cried when his sister and daughter's read the eulogy's the wrote. I celebrate because
he is free from the stress on his body from the massive stroke he had 25 years ago.

3. Niagara Falls was our last road trip. We stayed on the American side because we don't have passports yet. I also have a friend that lives close by, so we spent some time with her and her family and also watched the kids do what they like best to do at a Hotel, jump from bed to bed. We had fun.

1. What was the last fictional book you read?
I honestly have not picked up a book in months...so it's hard to remember...but I think it was either The Restaurant at the End of the Universe or some horribly cheesy romance someone loaned me.
I'll read anything...once.
If it's good, I'll read it another five hundred times.

2. When was the last time you cried?
When my best friend told me that she'd broken down and cried because she just wanted me to be able to be there with her.

3. The last road trip I took was...
Uh...maybe a year and a half ago, to Wyoming, to go to my little brother's wedding? I dunno, I don't...go...anywhere.

1. I don't remember which book, but it was Dickens... I was on a bit of a Dickens kick, so it could have been one of several options.

2. Last week. I saw Lone Survivor and seeing the photographs of the men who the movie was based on brought a tear to my eye. Men died, and not just US operatives, Afghani villagers died for sheltering Americans. It was truly sad. What was even sadder was the general attitude in the theater that the gunships killing terrorists at the end of the movie somehow left it on a high note. Vengeance doesn't bring people back (though I'm glad the terrorists can't take any more people with them).

3. Next road trip? It's in two weeks. I'm visiting relatives in Georgia :).

1. I came to Christ at age 17. I was young and stupid and finally realized how young and stupid I really was. I had been ignoring Him all my life with spurts of thinking I was a Christian.

Not kidding...

Admittedly I prefer it cooked in something else for a casing (adding the sheep's stomach just is just too much, it looks gross when you have to cut into it).

When I tried Haggis I thought I'd hate it, and then I was like... hey this is like lamb and oatmeal. I can only eat it once a year at the nearby Scottish games. I haven't found a source for the uhm... parts... to cook it myself.

It does sound kind of gross though, I'll give it that.

1. saved at an early age. I chose Christ in church at a very young age, but I affirmed it at age 16 after a soccer game and again re-committed my life to Christ at age 27, May 1997.

2. Bento box , Japanese.

3. Scrambled. Throw all the ingredients in a zip-loc bag, green , red peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, ham, sausage, and microwave for a minute. Super yum, not to mention, super simple to make.

Note to self: Try French Toast with carmelized onions and poached eggs on top.

I think it was the 4th book in the Chelsea Cain series...The Night Season...she's just awesome!

2. When was the last time you cried?

Last time I cried...hmmm..well srsly like cried my eyes out...when I had to put my barely year old Olde English Bulldogge,Wembly down when he was so sickly,he'd never have a proper life w/out severe pain...after that I'd say I cried my eyes out like a retard during the scene from I Am Legend with Will Smith & his dog, when he had to kill her because she got infected...since then...I'm not sharing, because it's too private.

3. The last road trip I took was...

I srsly can't remember. I'm sure it was someplace with my ex-wife...but I really don't remember. I know the raod trip I'd LIKE to take now,but I need some serious dosh before I can.

I believe hobbit holes are referred to under many different names...one common one is 'toad in a hole'.

Anyway, if I'm not mistaken...it's just bread (buttered both sides) with a hole cut in the middle. You fry the bread and crack the egg into the hole in the middle (while it's in the pan frying obviously) and voila.. hobbit holes...or whatever you wanna call them.

My turn:

When was I saved: As a child- grew up in a Christian home.. I think I was about 8 when I made a decision though.

My favourite ethnic food: Anything from Finland - Pulla (similar to cinnabons in the US I suppose), karjalanpiirakat - rye rice pastries.. (google it).. basically non-sweetened rice porridge in a pastry made from dark rye flour. They sound gross but they're divine. Commonly eaten with mashed hard-boiled egg on top (okay I'm drooling now.. I need to get baking). Also, I grew up with a family with Finnish heritage... in case you're wondering.

My favourite way to prepare eggs: I'm a scrambled eggs kinda girl. Omlettes are good too.
