I love my name, and I am SO happy my dad named me instead of my sweet mama. She's Filipino and wanted to name me according to a common Filipino practice of morphing the parent's names together to form a new name. I very well could have been named Algin. -.-

my actual name comes from my paternal great grandmother, with an "h" added at the beginning to soften the sound of it. My dad then wisely chose my maternal grandmother's first name to be my middle name, and lucky me, they sound perfect together ^_^ They chose the names before they married, back when they were still pen pals (for those of you who know that story). One of their love letters contains the conversation where my name is decided upon, but they won't let me see it til I get engaged. :p

The grass is always greener as they say, I don't mind my name, it's who I am, and if I want other names I have that through my internet names (such as Revan) my real name is Grant :)

My real name is Matthew, which means "Gift From God".

Would I change my name if I could? Probably not, since that description of my name is actually true to reality. I am definitely a gift to all of you, so much so that I hereby extend the definition of my name to "Gift From God To CC".

You're welcome!!!

I didn't know you have a son :)

Picking a name for your child is one of the hardest things ever. :)

I think family names are cool. My son was named after his grandfather, whose middle name was, fortunately, the same as my stepdad's first name. My son really likes his name, does not like to be called the shortened version thereof, and is NOT shy about telling people this. :)

I have mentioned before that my mom wanted to name me Sharon Rose (ack...gag...my apologies to anyone who might be reading this by that name, but it is definitely NOT me. :) ). My mom was heavily sedated, so the only good thing my biological dad ever did for me was name me. As many of you know, Jullianna is not my real name.

When I married I decided to use my adoptive last name as my middle name as a way of showing how much the adoption meant to me (none of that hyphening junk though :) ), and dropped having a middle name completely.

Aside from sounding very whitebread, my name is okay...since I am whitebread.

My middle name is a little different. It was my paternal grandmother's maiden name. I used to not like it because my middle name was different and couldn't pass for a first name. I had so many friends who went by their middle name, and I did not have that option. Now, I like it for the same reason: it's a little bit different.

My name is Jennifer, I like it. But if my parents named something else, I think I would have liked, Kate, Zoe, Allison, Lauryn, Emily, Olivia (my daughter's name) Amelia or Lydia.
Out of all of those names --- I like Jennifer the most...

I wonder what would you all feel if your parents happened to be like the one who named their children... Macaroni 85, Spaghetti 88, Sincerely Yours 98.

Spaghetti who just gave birth last December named her baby son Cheese Pimiento, as she says the legend continues. Macaroni plans also to name his first born Windows XP, and Sincerely Yours plans to use the name Signature. Sounds fun!hehe

I don't think any of the names mentioned here are bad. I know it's normal to possibly think our own names are boring or whatever. However, I think 'boring' names such as 'James' for example (haha I couldn't help myself) are far better than stupid made up names like Moonunitstardustwookawookafrypan or something equally as bizarre. . There's a girl in one of my classes named Kakoa and I always have to stop and think about it. I've gone to call her Kak-ao on more than one occasion (you know like cacao- the raw cocoa powder- google it). It's not an overly obscure name as such, but it always trips me up.

Yep -- call 'em boring if ya want to -- but - there's a lot that can be said about having a good, old-fashioned -- 'common' -- "normal" -- name... ;)

Only a few people actually call me by my given name. Most call me Didi or Red. :)
