How could they have banned my boyfriend the ladies man?!
Aw, I can't tell you how inspired I felt to finally put down my video game console and maybe, JUST MAYBE, wander upstairs to see what was going on (aka, to see if Mom was making dinner, of course!) and start building a productive life of my own and backpack around the world and hike the Himalayas and...

*Reads Nod's post.* OH CRUD. *Room... spinning... fading back to darkness...*

What was it I was going to do again? Eh, it couldn't have been important. *Slinks back downstairs... into the waiting arms of the Xbox.*

The Xbox doesn't nag, scold, or judge.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think we've just found unconditional love!!!

I first saw a 10-page article on this parasite a few years ago, and it explained a lot of my observations from working in a vet clinic. There were normal-ish people with dogs or cats; then there were crazy cat-owners. They keep increasing the number of cats they have, call the vet to describe minor changes in their cat's stool, and lose the ability to interact with people. You could see the change most dramatically in their eyes.

I've had cats, dogs, and fish—though I only have a dog (my sister's) right now. I would like to get a cat again but will definitely do so with caution.

You mean all this time I thought I loved kitties because they were cute and cuddly.....it's really because I'm being mind controlled by a parasite to further it's agenda of creating more cat pee? :(

these are the kind of stories that terrify me, actually. a good friend of mine who has gone trail riding with me for years found out that she was diagnosed with lyme disease last spring. talk about a nightmare! symptoms, treatment. plus, is there anything grosser than a tick???

my reaction? i spent the summer riding all over the state while covered from head to toe and in a hat. think birka.

Well I own a cat and my personality doesn't change because of what might or might not be in Gracie's fecal matter.

I am so sorry Misty77 but perhaps I am reading these posts wrong. Perhaps I'm being sensitive here. I don't know. Pray for me. I know I'm praying for you. :)

If anything, pray for sunshine!!!!!!!!! I look out the window and yet another day with overcasted skies and snow. I want spring, green grass, flowers, open windows and songbirds singing. Being closed in can have it discouraging times.

Again, I apologize if I am in error in misinterpreting the post.

Ticks make me shutter. They are nasty. Just nasty.
we used to have a real problem with ticks when i lived in NW MT. i remember getting one on my back, and emotional trauma that ensued makes the time i was stung about 70 times when my horse rode over a yellow jacket's nest seem like only a mild irritation.

If you feel that I was attacking you, I assure you that was not my intention. Just to clarify, not all cat owners are crazy (or I would be, too). But some definitely are.

Thank you, Misty. Appreciate it. :)

Having read more of your situation with your son and the school (on another thread), please know I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope things get resolved and the outcome is the best for all parties involved.

Being a single mom isn't for sissies. :) It's a tough job. :)

I've been rushed by ambulance to the E.R. due to spider bites. Whole left side went numb, face swollen. I so get it when people share about not liking bugs. :) Another critter I cannot stand is a snake. I don't care if it is "friendly" or not. A snake is a snake.

Nothing is wrong with video gaming, as long as it does not take you away from life's responsibilities and God's response to your life.

Good thread, decipheringcat, just add God to the mix is my only suggestion, let Him lead you, and, it may be to a girl, it may not, but, it will be His leading and if you are dwelling in Him then it's all good wherever you go :)

Mention God wherever you go. My devotion this morning from Psalm 7 tells us to always "thank God, for He is just.' And, to "sing praises to the Lord Most High." What I found most fascinating of this verse is that we are to thank God for things of our life, like allowing us to meet girls, etc., because 'He is just.' But, there is no reason for praising him given. We are just to praise Him wherever we go.

We never know when we can get ourselves in a scrape, like David, maybe, with a girl even, doing something to hurt her feelings or something. And, God knows our hearts, sees our past ways of prasing and thanking Him for things of our life and I am not guessing but not knowing either but God will accordingly bless and mete out justice and blessings, like giving you a girl, based on your past thanking and praising of Him. Praying too.

:)

now snakes i don't mind. i actually got written up for sneaking in my red tailed boa into the girls' dorm. unfortunately, my RA found it by accident and apparently had a conniption or something like that.

the only time snakes really weird me out is when they're swimming in the same body of water i'm in. *that* freaks me out.

i don't mind spiders in their milieu, but when they come in my house *shudder* i use the vacuum cleaner on them so that i don't have to get spider guts anywhere near me. : )
