this was several years ago, and fortunately, things have worked out very well for them both. they have three kids and seem very happy.

but yeah, that's a really tough one. i feel your pain.

It hurts. Not a day goes by that goes without some kind of thought about her. Especially lately.

You did the best you could and said your peace. Just be there for your sister as best you can and pray that this man changes for the better. I think women tend to either gravitate to one extreme or the other when it comes to relationships - either they don't cut a guy enough slack, or they date/marry far beneath them. The happy marriages are the ones where neither party compromises on core values and beliefs.

And... this is a weak confession by comparison, but what the hey, maybe I'll lighten the mood.

Sometimes I sneeze when brushing my teeth, and sometimes I make gagging noises when brushing the back of my tongue (which is important for fresh breath). It's gross and I don't know how to stop it. I tell myself it's not going to happen but every once in a while it does. Stupid mouth.

Another confession.

She talked me into being the maid of honor for the wedding.

I'm having a hard time coping with that. =\

Egads. What kind of bribes did she offer up to get you to agree to that? The DJ better play your favorite song or something.

I talked to your sister once in the Lounge, she's very sweet.

I watched my oldest sister get married three times, the first time I was in Kindergarten she was 18 and they got married at a JP. He was awesome, he was a part of our family for many years and still is. When they divorced she went banana's and married a raging alcoholic. I didn't want to go to the wedding, it was in her back yard. I wasn't in the wedding, I probably would have said no. Anyhow it was horrible and I didn't pay much attention. They divorced a few years later. She's been married to husband 3 for 16 years. He was an alcoholic for 10 of those. I didn't want her to marry him either. He's been sober for 6 years, so that's good, but I knew it was going to be a train wreck at first.

She told me that always wants to fix people. I said you can't, she knows that now. I love her and I like her Husband, although he and I didn't always get a long. But we are fine now. I'm glad he's sober and their life is normal now. Not always peaceful but fairly normal.

If they get divorced and she marry's again, I'm going to pretend it didn't happen. So I feel you on the Sister thing.

Confession I:
I love that last scene of Chariots of Fire when Eric Liddell wins the race in Paris Olympic Games 1924. He ran for the glory of God. I have an special interest for Scotland.

Confession II:
I get too stressed when something is not going the way it is supposed to go....ehmmm....the banks for example....in many banks here in my city the service is sickening terrible......you make lines and after two hours waiting they tell you to come back again because you got something wrong....well....I swallow my anger but my face is completely red in fury.......

Confession III:
I have to be in Iceland. There is something there and I think the answer lies beneath the hills of Kopavogur and Akureyri.

Confession IV:
I hate dating books. The Bible is much better. I hate the word girlfriend. It is synonym of derailment. The word wife is better. So, I am pursuing just that: a wife, no some nonsense relationship that goes nowhere.

Confession V:
I got away from youth groups. If I want to be a man, I should be surrounded by men not with boys because I will end up acting like a boy the rest of my life.

Confession VI:
I save my tears for something worth weeping for. Not for foolish stuff.

Confession VII:
I MUST learn how to listen. I act like a dumb Christian sometimes saying nonsense stuff that leads to nowhere. If I listened, I would be a humble person and not an ignorant believer.

Those are all my confessions.

Confession:

I get annoyed when people act like the singles lounge is their private chat channel. [Maybe it is, and I'm just wrong.] The lounge is usually like an over-crowded censored bar, the Bible discussions are very serious, but the singles can be really fun—like the kind in the basement on That 70's Show without a thick haze in the air.

Confession: I miss working at Carl's Jr. It wasn't the worst job I've ever had (least pay for the worst hours) BUT I liked the feeling of being on a team, and I liked making people happy and I liked working with food.

The funny thing is that the absolute worst job I've ever had in my life, was checking the temperatures of top secret navy stuff. 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, roaming around alone with a clip board.

The best job I've ever had was as a hospital receptionist. 9-5 Monday through Friday. I check blood pressure, answer phones, schedule appointments, get coffee, go out to lunch with nurses, and I was encouraged to make patients happy. :)
