As time passed, kings that demanded pagan worship dominated Israel, and eventually the temple that Solomon had built was ransacked and the proper function according to God had been totally annihilated. Finally, a righteous king named Hezekiah, came to the rescue, restoring the propriety of worship ordained by God. Among Hezekiah’s first acts was repair of the Temple, which had been closed during the reign of Ahaz. He reorganized the services of the priests and Levites, and purged the Temple and its vessels, as we read the scripture in 2 Chronicles 29:3. “He in the first year of his reign, in the *first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.” He resolved to abolish idolatry from his kingdom, and among other things that he did to this end, he destroyed the high places and the bronze serpent made by Moses according to the command of God in Numbers 21:8, which became an object of idolatrous worship. Not by coincidence, we notice the *first month that envelopes Passover, and the “feast of Unleavened Bread.” The **third month is in relation to the giving of the law, and Pentecost, and finally the ***seventh month beginning with trumpets, then atonement, and finally the “Feast of Tabernacles” by including 2 Chronicles 31:6-8 which states; “And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelt in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated unto the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. In the **third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the ***seventh month. And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel.”

After the death of Hezekiah, Judah eventually started evolving into pagan practices as the entire nation had done in the past, and in time had entirely rejected all that God had commanded them. For this rejection, the Babylonians took Judah into captivity, and the last remnant of Israel ceased to exist. This was during the time of Daniel the prophet, and this exile probably lasted just a few years less than seventy years. Persia eventually conquered the Babylonian Empire under the rule of Cyrus II. He made a decree that all peoples who were originally from Jerusalem could return to their cities. King Artaxerxes, who ruled the Medo-Persian Empire, made a decree that whatever Ezra the priest wanted would be done, and all the treasurers that the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the House of God would be returned.

Even though the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and the Temple during Ezra, and Nehemiah’s time, doesn’t directly correlate with the Feast of Tabernacles, there is definitely a relationship between the past and the future that centers around the feast of Tabernacles. We know that the seventh month is set aside to learn of all that God has said and done for His own children. The people that returned were given understanding of the law, and the prophets, and that comprehension instigated a determined work ethic. Among those that had been commissioned to rebuild the temple, a sincere desire to continue in the ordinances of God recorded during the time of Moses, was the prerequisite in their heart. So in respect to this remnant of Israel, and the remnant prophesied in the last days, it is important to notice the congregation’s reactions in this progression of events. God knows what the reaction of the people will be, and then He speaks to Haggai on the final day of the Feast of Tabernacles. The message remains just as true today as it did then. “Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts: According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.” (Haggai 2:1-5) Trumpets started to sound “when the seventh month was come”, as recorded in Ezra 3:1-3, “and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.” And the priests offered sacrifices “as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.” There are highlights in Nehemiah 8:2-17 that are worth mentioning so we can actually connect with the devotion of the people during this time. “Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month, and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law. Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place. So they read the book in the law of God distinctly and caused them to understand the reading. And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law. And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:” so we read in Ezra 3:4-6 that “they kept also the feast of tabernacles, as the duty of every day required; And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, from the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.” And on the eighth day, which would have been the twenty-second of the month, we read in Nehemiah 8:18 “day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he (Ezra) read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.”

So with great enthusiasm the builders lay the foundation of the temple. There is much rejoicing from most yet great sorrow from those who had witnessed the grandeur of Solomon’s temple. “Many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:” (Ezra 3:10-12) Now was the time for the prophecies of Zechariah, and Haggai to be re-iterated to comfort, and give hope to them who were involved in the rebuilding of the temple, relating it to the last days. So the LORD by the prophet Haggai continues in chapter 2:6-9; “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.” And then Zechariah (chapter 14:16-18 speaks up and says; “it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.”

With the progression of events we see in Nehemiah 9:1-3, “in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped the LORD their God.” We also read in Haggai 2:20-23 that “the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying, Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth; And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother. In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.”
Working diligently though the directions of Ezra, and Nehemiah, we read in Ezra 6:14-15 “And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia. And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, (the last month of the year) which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.” Through the process of events, the testimony of God’s righteousness is revealed to Israel, and their heart has been prepared to know God is true to His Word, being fulfilled, and for us today is completed by His own Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

So who does Zerubbabel represent, and what is the signet that God is talking about? Spelled Zorobabel in Luke 3:27 he was in the direct lineage of Jesus Christ, the same as King David, from the tribe of Judah. One need not say more. The reason that “the glory of this latter house (the temple) shall be greater than of the former,” is that Jesus Christ has built the new temple inside the true believers in Him. Jesus confirms this when He says in John 2:19b-20 “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?” Paul confirms this in 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” Summarizing Hebrews 8:1-5,
we have a high priest, who sits on the right hand of the throne in heaven of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. God admonished Moses when he was about to make the tabernacle as shown to him in the mount. So to be redundant, I finish with Hebrews 8:7, 13, and 9:1 taking out the italicized words so as to focus on the old temple made by hands, and the new temple where the Most High dwells. (Acts 7:48)
“For if that first had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. In that he saith, A new he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. Then verily the first had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.” Should we forsake the old because of the new rendering ourselves without understanding? God doesn’t change and neither does Jesus. The only change is from the physical to the spiritual, “because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” (Romans 8:7)

Leviticus 25:8-13 [SUP]8 [/SUP]And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
Let us contemplate this scripture.
It is the seventh month after the fall harvest.
It is the tenth day, the Day of Atonement, related to the acquisition of the Lamb.
It is the count of forty-nine years related to the forty-nine days in the Feast of Weeks.
It is the fiftieth year related to the fiftieth day called Shavuot or Pentecost.

7[SUP]th[/SUP] month and 7 weeks of years=food for nourishment, considering the resurrection of Christ, Spiritual completeness, and the Father’s perfection. The 10[SUP]th[/SUP] day is God’s testimony written in His law and our responsibility of loving Him, our neighbor, and our enemy. The 50[SUP]th[/SUP] year celebrates the completion of first fruits spring harvest.

Matthew 6:11-12 (KJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Give us this day our daily bread. (harvest)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. (jubilee)

Psalm 51:12-13 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. (harvest)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. (jubilee)

For those who see the Mosaic Law as vital, I would hope that this study of the three feasts would help you with better explanations as to why these spiritual practices of the heart, mind, and soul are deemed as important to you and educate those that would want to refute all of the law.

To those who believe that the law is only for those who are under it, I would hope that this study of the feasts would stir your heart by seeing the relevance in what you already know, and giving you better insight as to why the Mosaic law is esteemed by others.

I pray that is study would mend fences, and would be a catalyst for a common and agreeable understanding. May the Lord bless both sides with wisdom and understanding accordingly, as He desires His church to edify one another in the truth of our Lord, and Savior Jesus the true Christ, and Creator of all things.

That's it... All done.... Hope you were and are blessed with this information.

Indeed brother Just-me! This study has been a blessing to me and I hope for others as well. Who can know the mind of Yah? He has revealed Himself through His prophets and His Word, His Son. Our eyes ought always be on Him who gave us life, that we might strive to do all His will. The more we walk in His ways and learn of Him, the more we become as He intended, His children. Each time we see where our walk is not pleasing, may we obtain grace from Him who makes perfect, the strength to cast off unprofitable things, embrace His instruction, and Praise Him. For we know that our desire to walk in His statutes and love comes from Him who made us, and is not of ourselves.

Being raised on a farm, I have always had a problem with thinking corn was harvested during the spring. I did some research and this is what I found that relates to the following scripture.

We also need to keep in mind that the feast of the spring harvest needed to be dried by fire according to Leviticus 2:14 because the firstfruits were young and tender. “And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.”

I have always had a problem with the spring harvest having corn. Revealing my humor, that my wife doesn’t necessarily like at times, I must say that harvesting corn in the spring sounded pretty corny to me, and to me fruit and vegetables are not “meat.” First off, the word “meat” in this verse doesn’t have any number in the concordance so we can safely say it wasn’t in the original Hebrew text. In addition, this verse can easily be misunderstood because corn just doesn’t ripen in April or May no matter where in the world it is planted. Corn demands hot temperatures unlike what the spring has to offer. So I went to research what crops were actually harvested during the springtime. According to the Hebrew language, and by using the Strong’s Concordance, I surmise that “ears” mean tender produce taken from a garden, vineyard, and/or orchard. It is related to being red in color. The Hebrew word for “ear” is actually “abiyb.” Now we know how the first month of the year got its name. The word “corn” actually means separating the kernel, or the grain from its outer shell as in separating the wheat or barley from the chaff.

So this verse would be more descriptive by understanding it this way. “And if thou offer an offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer from of thy firstfruits tender produce from your garden, vineyard, and/or orchard, along with threshed tender grain that is dried by the fire.

This is not a coincidence as we relate all this to what John the Baptist said in Matthew 3:11and 12: “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” And we see Paul alluding to the same when he writes “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.” (Romans 8:23)

another thing about crops is that the same extra blessing came from God to those who were willing to observe the Jubilee year
(it's also important if you don't know about farming, to know that the first year your harvest is for seed mostly. some plants actually yield a different kind of fruit the first year....like elephant garlic, you get one big bulb like a potato, and you can either plant it and have plenty, or eat that one and then it's gone)

"And if ye shall say: 'What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we may not sow, nor gather in our increase'; then I will command My blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth produce for the three years. And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat of the produce, the old store; until the ninth year, until her produce come in, ye shall eat the old store." (Leviticus 25:20-22)

I'm not suggesting we need agriculture for salvation or any other silly thing the OT-phobic people can come up with, but I think it fits with what you said about the bigger picture.

That last part reminded me of, now I may not have this right so correct or ignore, after King David numbered his people instead of just collecting their half-sheckel? and God gave him a choice of 3 punishments, David ask for it to be at the LORD's hands, and forget the number destroyed by the angel but it stopped at the threshing floor of.....can't remember his name. Then an alter was built there....I will have to look all that up.

I love the idea of Jubilee Year!!! I have taken off 4 times in my life for almost a year, and those were the years I learned the most, experienced the most, got closer to God. It wasn't done according to God's law, I wish it had been though. The reality is, in the new earth, from Sabbath to Sabbath, Feasts and all.

[SUP]Isaiah 22 [/SUP]For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.

[SUP]23 [/SUP]And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.

I wonder when Jubilee year is?

Thank you, I really like that scripture and will keep it in mind as I learn more. Thanks for the edification sis.

He did give David three choices. I know that David's heart was right in that he felt it was all on him, and it was. His grave mistake was that he temporarily thought that Israel's strength was in numbers rather than God. I will have to read up on the 1/2 shekel because I don't remember anything about that. Maybe you have a scripture? Blessings sis. You are a blessing to us all.

One thing about the Day of Atonement, you have it as a day of oneness with God, but along with the hope of being united with God and made Holy, is that you're not erased in the process. There's a period in there, of 10 days, representing the entirety of existence....and the old Jewish legend is that those who do not repent in that window, are blotted out as if they had never existed. Kind of like the abominable people who are represented as dogs without the city of New Jerusalem.

[h=3]1 Chronicles 21[/h]King James Version (KJV)

21: 1 And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.

[SUP]12 [/SUP]Either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the Lord, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]So the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the Lord beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the Lord stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.

[SUP]26 [/SUP]And David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the Lord; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

I can't remember where I read about the money offering that was what was required, rather than counting of heads. As I recall, it was the same amount, rich or poor, so that all would be equal in giving and partaking of the grandeur of the place of Worship.

some idiot decided that without all 12 tribes they didn't need to according to law, and you know how Jews are, you gotta twist their arms on everything lol

I saw some evidence for the nation of Israel having a Jubilee year but it doesn't seem like it's on the up and up.

I think the most important aspect of a Jubilee is that it be decreed by God, because only he can provide the blessing on the sixth year, just as the sixth day out in the desert with the manna, among other reasons.

My thought is that the Jubilee reminds me a lot of the 7 years of plenty followed by 7 of famine in ancient Egypt. I wonder if it's a shadow, like the wise and foolish virgins. My thinking is that the "plenty" is the physical fulfillment of Tabernacles, and the Jubilee is the Shmini Atzeret (8th Day of Assembly)

just-us....are you sure it's always a Sabbath or the Sabbath after Sukkot?

EDIT- ...I saw some evidence for Israel having a Jubilee year in 1966....sorry I left off the date =P

Isn't atonement 5 days long, and trumpets 9 days long? Where are the 10 days mentioned? Do you have some scripture for that? Thanks for you input. It helps with kicking my brain into gear. LOL GBU

some idiot decided that without all 12 tribes they didn't need to according to law, and you know how Jews are, you gotta twist their arms on everything lol

According to what I have read in the internet about the feasts, there is much that doesn't correlate with the Bible, about the days, let alone the years. The year of Jubilee was on the 50th year. The land rested every 7 years, and it was also a time to forgive debts.

Leviticus 25:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

Deuteronomy 15:1-2 (KJV)

[SUP]1 [/SUP]At the end of every seven years thou shalt make a release.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And this is the manner of the release: Every creditor that lendeth ought unto his neighbour shall release it; he shall not exact it of his neighbour, or of his brother; because it is called the LORD'S release.

Matthew 6:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Leviticus 25:10-11 (KJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

This compares with the 1st month's feast of weeks, and then adding another day to makes 50 days. I think you meant just-me LOL :D
just-us....are you sure it's always a Sabbath or the Sabbath after Sukkot?
Yes according to scripture. The 15th is a Sabbath, and the 22nd is a Sabbath. During Jesus's day the 15th was called a high day because it wasn't a weekly Sabbath. It appears that the weekly *Sabbaths are what verse 38 says. Every year the annual Sabbaths would change according to the original day it was instituted.

Leviticus 23:38-44 (KJV)
[SUP]38[/SUP]Beside the *sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.
[SUP]40 [/SUP]And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
[SUP]41 [/SUP]And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.
[SUP]42 [/SUP]Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths:
[SUP]43 [/SUP]That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
[SUP]44 [/SUP]And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

The Jews would never have had anyone crucified on a weekly or an annual Sabbath, so the 14th is not a Sabbath day. That statement ought to raise a ruckus. Hope it don't. I know others don't want to think that the 14th is not a Sabbath day. Oh well:D
