The Passover has NEVER been a Sabbath. It is a Feast but not a Sabbath. The next day, the First Day of Unleavened Bread, is an annual Sabbath.
Just going by what the Bible says. The next day begins at "even" or twilight. We've discussed this before.
Leviticus 23:5-7 (KJV)
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]In the fourteenth
day of the first month
at even is the LORD'S passover.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]And on the
fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
[SUP]
7 [/SUP]In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
The feast of unleavened bread correlates precisely with the feast of tabernacles in the first and seventh month.
Leviticus 23:24 (KJV)
[SUP]
24 [/SUP]Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the
first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
Leviticus 23:32 (KJV)
[SUP]
32 [/SUP]It
shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth
day of the month at
even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
The even of the 9th day is the beginning of the 10th day.
Leviticus 23:39 (KJV)
[SUP]
39 [/SUP]Also in the
fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day
shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day
shall be a sabbath.
The 1st, 10th and 15th days are all Sabbath days in both the 1st and 7th month. Where we fail to agree is that the day starts at even, evening, or twilight. You're saying that the 14th is Passover, and I'm saying the 15th is Passover.
Exodus 12:6 (KJV)
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exodus 12:12-13 (KJV)
[SUP]
12 [/SUP]For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I
am the LORD.
[SUP]
13 [/SUP]And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye
are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy
you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Leviticus 23:6-8 (KJV)
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]And on the fifteenth day of the same month
is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
[SUP]
7 [/SUP]In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
[SUP]
8 [/SUP]But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day
is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work
therein.
If the 22nd is a Sabbath, then the 15th is also a Sabbath.
maybe you will agree with this...
Now to clarify the feast of weeks we count starting on the 23rd day of the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] month, leaving us 8 days to the end of the month of Nisan. 8 days added to the 29 days in Lyar equal 37 days. Then by adding the12 days of the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] month to that sum, we complete 49 days which equal 7 weeks. The 23[SUP]rd[/SUP] day of the first month is the beginning of the
feast of weeks lasting 49 days. The 49 days includes
first fruits, ending by commemorating Pentecost and Moses climbing up the Mount to receive the stone tablets on the 13[SUP]th [/SUP]day of the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] month Sivan.
(Exodus Chapters 19 thru 24) By adding another day according to Leviticus 23:16 we arrive at the 13[SUP]th[/SUP] day of the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] month.
Exodus 19:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]In the
third month, when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they
into the wilderness of Sinai.
Exodus 19:16 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And it came to pass on the
third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that
was in the camp trembled.
In Exodus 19:1 and 16 we count 3 days.
Exodus 24:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD,
and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
Exodus 24:13-14 (KJV)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]
And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur
are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
There is one week of 7 days following the 5[SUP]th[/SUP] day of the month ending on the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] day.
Exodus 24:16 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and
the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
