Psalm 136 [AMP]

O GIVE thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.
O give thanks to the God of gods, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever —
To Him Who alone does great wonders, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who by wisdom and understanding made the heavens, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who stretched out the earth upon the waters, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who made the great lights, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever
The sun to rule over the day, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
The moon and stars to rule by night, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who smote Egypt in their firstborn, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And brought out Israel from among them, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
With a strong hand and with an outstretched arm, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who divided the Red Sea into parts, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And made Israel to pass through the midst of it, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
But shook off and overthrew Pharaoh and his host into the Red Sea, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who led His people through the wilderness, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who smote great kings, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And slew famous kings, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever
Sihon king of the Amorites, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And Og king of Bashan, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And gave their land as a heritage, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
Even a heritage to Israel His servant, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who [earnestly] remembered us in our low estate and imprinted us [on His heart], for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
And rescued us from our enemies, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
To Him Who gives food to all flesh, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever;
O give thanks to the God of heaven, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

Law and word being used interchangeably in the Psalm.
My point is that the context of this Psalm proves that "word" therein is describing a particular portion (the law portion, i.e., the Law of the Lord) of His Word. Are you of the antinomian interpretation, those who do not like to be reminded of this?

Sorry, Sir; I used just 9, straightforward words which seemed factually based, and I see your response to them; I don't feel I have anything further to say; thank-you. Blessings.

I'll start with Ps 139.
Verse 16 of Psalm 139 is so searching; the idea of the believer, who is trusting in the Lord, as being one who is the object of eternal, electing purposes of grace, seems to tie in with Ephesians, in a truth later revealed to the church.

Blessings.

I love the book of Psalms and have too many verses I love. So, don't know which one to begin with. The first Psalm I memorized and recited in Sunday school was Ps. 23:1-6, then, Ps. 139:1-24, and then, Ps. 121:1-, so on and so forth. I love all of them.

The book of Psalm is very uplifting for me personally and I love reading it.

I think it is also describing God's promises in his word (e.g., vv. 41, 42, 65, 76, 116, 154, 162, 170).

Hi Ms Sanglina: Thanks; and coincidentally also I was just discussing Psalm 139 with Ms Elin above, you'll see.

Blessings.

This penitential Psalm is very humbling and searching. Allegri's Miserere (of which Latin and English versions exist) is a musical composition based on it.

Blessings.

Psalms 24 Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Another great Psalm; and Psalm 24 also has the memorable line: 'The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof'.

Do you guys sing Psalms sometimes at your church?

Blessings.

...

The book of Psalm is very uplifting for me personally and I love reading it.
PS: Ms sanglina: The Psalms encompass a sheer range of high, certain hopes, extreme emotion, repentant solemnity: the whole range of human feeling, in fact. Thus to the truly receptive heart they are always very instructive.

Blessings.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Psalm 147:3: "He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds"

katy:

This is among the most memorable of Psalms, isn't it? and it also ties in well with John 10, about the Good Shepherd, Who gives His life for the sheep.

Blessings.

The Lord Jesus quoted from psalm 22 when He was on the Cross. That psalm takes on special meaning for me because of that.

Yes, that is also one of my favorites.

I like to pray it when I am in distress.
