Favorite Psalms

I am SO sorry!!! Truly you are speaking of the way people think in the last days, I wish we could help in these times, and never say any of scripture has been done away with. Even knowing that Christ came from the tribe of Judah, and Aaron from the tribe of Levi escapes the understanding of many. So the beautiful, the holy 119th psalm is pulled apart and the beauty taken away!!!

The law has no power to save, it was not made to save, it never ever saved from the day of creation. Christ was part of the world from creation. Christ is what saves, not the law. Because of that, the law that is all 119th says is spoken of as so many speak of it and you are repeating, and using scripture to say scripture tells you this.

If you mean that I think the church should save itself by it's works, then works never did save anyone, how could it go back to what never was? If you mean we aren't to try to follow the path that God has set before us, then I think you are taking the beauty of Psalm 119 out and putting a darkness around it.

I think that you are not listening well to scripture and the Holy Spirit within you when you repeat "under the law" truth. That saying has to do with your life in Christ, it has nothing to do with "don't listen to law, it is completely apart from your life".

This has been an extremely powerful and comforting psalm in my life. God is so good, mighty, and powerful. We are blessed to be loved by Him.

I know you don't know what I mean! Many people don't because they don't listen to all scripture, and also they don't realize all scripture is breathed by the same God, and eternal God who does not change. I despair of many ever understanding.

If you were under the law, then you would have to obey all law to be saved. You can't do that. Christ came to take you out of that situation, Christ offered you forgiveness through Him, so you aren't under law for salvation but under Christ. That does not put you outside of God's way for you, but it means you are even more inside of that path the law lays out for you, in that way you are still under the law. Not for salvation, that is taken care of. But under love. Christ put it this way "If you love me you will keep my commandments". The law expresses what God says about love and the expression of love. The law is all, every bit, of what the beautiful 119th Psalm says. Christ explained law for us in the Sermon on the Mount.

The Jews made a mitzvah that all gentiles were to do all the things scripture had told them to as a reminder of a spiritual law, although the physical that they were told to do was not the goal, the spiritual law was what God saw. Jews said that unless the gentiles obeyed each physical law they could not be admitted to the church. Many of the letters address this. The spiritual law behind the rituals still stands. People use this to say that all of God's spiritual laws are no more. It is true that the spiritual law is what God sees, but you can't tell lies about someone and still obey the spiritual law to love, for instance. When it is pounded into people that the law is dead, then the church sets no boundaries on behavior, but Christ does set boundaries on behavior. It is a teaching leading to death. If you look at the actions today of many people in our churches you will see that it is bringing disaster to us.

This is getting beyond the Psalms now, I guess, but if I am supposedly now back under the law again does this for instance mean that I ought to wear a bushy beard, as a reading of Leviticus 19 might on the surface suggest? And what about the Sabbath? I thought that the Lord Jesus in His glorious Resurrection on the first day of the week was the wondrous fulfilment of the feast of firstfruits ('Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us, and is become the firstfruits of them that slept'). I still think so.

You are not understanding a word I say, I will read 119th psalm and believe every word of it, and every word of scripture. Beards and law!!! You cannot take away the beauty and truth of the 119th psalm, no matter what any of you say. God will win!

Psalm 51:10-13 is what convicted me when The Lord drew me to His grace and salvation.

That night I begged The Lord to create in me a clean heart, to renew a right spirit within and to enable me to proclaim His Holy Word to more sinners that their transgressions may be forgiven them too.

The Lord has made good on His promise!

Fire goes before him and consumes his foes on every side. His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and peoples will see his glory."
