Do you mind if I ask a question, Kohen? Do you believe that Jesus is the True Sabbath!
Or put another way, did Jesus fulfill the Sabbath Rest of God, at some point while He was here?
I haven't read through your thread, except some on this page, so i don't know if this has been asked?
Does God see the Lamb as His Sabbath fulfilled?

Nope, Christ is much more than the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a type or shadow of the Millenium. (Col 2:16-17, II Pet 3:8)

Did Jesus fulfill the rest promised? No, He procalimed the Kingdom of God which begins at His return and goes on for the thousand years we call the Millenium.

The Sabbath is not fulfilled yet, Col 2 even says that...

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Notice it does not say things that have been? And this was written twenty some years AFTER the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

Which is better to rest even if work or just rest one day only?I say this because he called us to rest even while working, this is all I am trying to say.

Guess what, I do not know better than God! God says...

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Notice Who's day it is?

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

I think there must have been a batch of defective Bibles printed. People read this and think this says the Sabbath of the Jews instead of the Sabbath of the Eternal.

God has the power to bless and make a day holy, my choice is whether to do what He says or not.

Grandpa, you're right. We are under grace, for Salvation. But we're not talking about that here. We're saved by grace through faith, and this not of ourselves, it is the gift of God. The Sabbath is an act of responsive obedience to that salvation.

Besides, if we truly are under grace, which we are, then it shouldn't matter if we attempt to walk in some forms of obedience to God.

After all, we're under grace.;)

Blessings,
Matt

Responsive obedience? I think you are confused. No flesh shall glory before the Lord.

If you know in advance that you are not justified by the law then why go back and follow it as if you were?

Again if physical resting is a yoke I gladly bear. You may continue not to bear this yoke and work til you drop and encourage others to do same.

???

If you try to keep the sabbath then you are obligated to keep the rest of the law. All things which are written in the book of the law to do them. That is the yoke that neither we nor our fathers could bear.

Because I'm not justified by the law, nor am I attempting to. I'm only justified by the mercy and grace of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. I'm just saying that from that point forward, I can't just sit on my kiester and wait around. I need to be doing stuff to help advance God's Kingdom by loving my neighbor and by loving God.

Matt 22: 36-40
"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?”
37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the great and foremost commandment.39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”

That's where obedience comes into play. That's where obeying the Sabbath comes into play.

I would call Sunday the Lord's Day, rather than the Sabbath, which is Saturday, and indicative of Jews under the law.

The law has in any case been changed (Hebrews 7).

You mean like this?

Exo 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

Or like this?

Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

or...

Exo 20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

and...

Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

And of course NO ONE would try to keep this...

Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

You regularly do this?

Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Or is it just that fourth one you won't do?

You can call it a space shuttle if you like, Christ called the Sabbath the Lord's Day...

Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

I don't consider the Sabbath as "The Lord's Day". Those are 2 different days. The Sabbath was established by God in the beginning as a 7th day. The Lord's day wasn't established (if established at all, but that's another topic) by God until the NT. I encourage all believers to fellowship and worship any and everyday of the week, but the 7th day Sabbath is a day set apart by God .

Creation rest is a principle I, too, would acknowledge, yes. I do think it's significant that what the Jewish Sabbath pointed forward to is fulfilled in Christ, and it is linked with the Resurrection: 'Christ our passover is sacrificed for us, and is become the firstfruits of them that slept'.

That is not waht is said here Brother it is showing us the truth, that if it is us that are trying to do the works or keep the works, (and God knows who is who) then the gift of Father is nullified.
If what you and I do, being by faith in God is a response of thanksgiving and praise to God for Son being our redemption to Father. And again God knows who is who, I don't and am not called to judge, called to preach the Love given by God through Son, mainly the resurrection as proof. Without the resurrected Christ we all would still be in our sins.
Worship any day you like, please just see the only way to worship God today is:
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Truith i8s God just love you, period, today it is about belief or not beleif.
For all and any sin takes place by the commandment
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
The truth is, some can't stand others keeping the Sabbath - and you go as far as relating the keeping of Sabbath with sin?!
What did the Hebrews writer say of those who heard and rebelled in the wilderness? What did they hear and what were they rebel against? Why were they punished? According to Ezekiel 22:8 and Jeremiah 17:19-27, one of the reasons were the desecration of the Sabbath.
Yeshua says it's lawful to do good on the Sabbath. Does He mean His followers, if they have the choice, have the freedom to work on that day?
What does the word "work" mean to you? To me work is the opposite of rest. Rest is not work and work is not rest.

I agree that it pointed to Jesus and was fulfilled by Him, just as everything in the Law was. But that doesn't mean it no longer has any practical blessing to observing it.

Either Yahweh contradicts Himself or the reference to the "yoke" is misunderstood.
He says in Deuteronomy 30:11-14: [SUP] [/SUP]Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.

The only situation where someone is required to keep the who law is if they are trusting in that for their salvation. Salvation is us being seen as perfect and cleansed in God's sight so that we can enjoy fellowship with him. If you don't have Jesus, you need to be blameless on your own to be perfect in God's eyes. That means you have to follow the law perfectly and do it all. If your salvation is by grace through faith, you can obey the law in the parts that are applicable without having to do follow the whole thing.

I would do all of them as perfectly as I could if I thought it was my strength and flesh that could gain anything by it, or please God.

But its not.

The flesh is enmity against God. Each time, every time.

So how do we please God? Its not by the flesh trying to keep commandments.

Its by faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

I would say you definitely have a misunderstanding.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Not under the law? when did that happen???

I would call Sunday the Lord's Day, rather than the Sabbath, which is Saturday, and indicative of Jews under the law.

The law has in any case been changed (Hebrews 7).

What does Hebrews 7 say about a change in the Law?

Heb 7:1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
Heb 7:2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
Heb 7:3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Christ was Melchisidec and the High Priest prior to Abraham.

Heb 7:4 Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
Heb 7:5 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

From Whom did Levi receive the Priesthood? (A rhetorical question by the way.)

Heb 7:6 But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
Heb 7:7 And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
Heb 7:8 And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
Heb 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

The subject is who carried out the office of Priest (who received tithes)?

Heb 7:10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Were the Levites perfect?

Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
Heb 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

What Law needed changed if the Priesthood was changed? This one?

Exo 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Of course not, the Law that made the sons of Levi, specifically the sons of Aaron the Priests.

Exo 28:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

Heb 7:13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Christ was disqualified from the Aaronical Priesthood by DNA. He was not a Levite, He was a Jew.

Heb 7:15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
Heb 7:16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.

Not after a law that pertains to the flesh. What Law pertains to the flesh? We just read it…

Exo 28:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

No one but a flesh and blood Levite and a direct descendant of Aaron could be a Priest.

Heb 7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
Heb 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

What Commandment? This one?

Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

No, again, we are speaking of this one…

Exo 28:1 And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

Heb 7:19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
Heb 7:20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
Heb 7:21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
Heb 7:22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
Heb 7:23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
Heb 7:24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
Heb 7:26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Heb 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Again, these fleshly Priests were no more sinless than you or I. They were not perfect…

Heb 7:11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Heb 7:28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

So here we see that the Law of Ex 28 that determines who the Priests could be, had to be changed…

Heb 7:12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Why?

Heb 7:13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
Heb 7:14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Jesus Christ was not a direct descendant of Aaron of the tribe of Levi, so the Law was changed BACK to a Mechisidec Priesthood.

I would say you definitely have a misunderstanding.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Not under the law? when did that happen???

Hebrews 7 tells us that the law was changed. We now draw near to God by a better promise.

So, free to murder or commit adultery? Of free from the death penalty that disobedience to the Law brings.

Tell me Gramps, if someone breaks into your home tonight, has his way with your wife, steals all your stuff and beats you to a bloody pulp, will you say "that's just fine, we are not under the Law"?
