Just like the title says. It seems like we have a tendency to throw it at people who just simply need grace from us.

I wish there was a "duck under a chair" icon, cuz I would have put it at the end of this post.

Ephesians 6 says the 'sword of the Spirit' is the Word of God.

Eph_6:17 Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word.

Heb_4:12 For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.

I have prayed a lot about this. When we are posting on this very public place, we are working for the Lord, and it is the Lord who must direct us, not our egos, not our pride, nothing of us. That means that we must only speak through what scripture says, and we are obliged to read it through the spirit and never to let one verse be out of line with all other verses. And we must be humble before the Lord as we post.

Scripture is as sharp as a sword. God is as sharp as a sword. Everything about God is precise and exact. His moral laws are exact, His physical laws are exact, we must never be sloppy even as we read scripture.

But with all of this, love must come first. To harm someone in any way is the worst thing we can do. Christ says that saying to someone "you fool" is like murder.

It takes a lot of prayer.

Some of those people need it thrown at them since that have long since rejected grace.

Are you a judge that you can know who rejects grace and who doesn't? Grace is given to all who repent of sins and follow Christ. God gives grace, you don't. Are you a weapon of the bible? You shouldn't be.

1. Sure I am a judge. The question you have to ask yourself? Do you want me to judge you or God to judge you? 1 Corinthians 5:12. You tell me. Should I be able to judge you, or is that strictly God's jurisdiction?
2. Never said I did. You just cannot post without adding to or distorting someones words, now can you?
3. No, again, I never said I was, and again, you try to put words in someone's mouth. Perhaps you should look up the phrase "bear false witness" and see what the bible says about that.

Answer 1., red.

This is exactly what the God's Word, the sword of the Spirit, is supposed to do! The worst would be if evangelicals became comfortable. Unfortunately, this does happen.

What good is it to speak of the Lord to you?
The Lord has no trouble getting thru. Your connection seems to be lacking. Answer post 7 red. You asked, I answered. Now you answer.

red, you either don't know enough of the bible, or ignore too much of it, but you keep getting yourself in trouble. You took a swipe at me and I have pinned you down. while you think on the "no win" answer you are going to give, I am going to bed. Maybe you should sleep on it.

Just something to think about. Pointless debates with an ignorant person makes you look like their equal. Things that make sense and are right can't be understood by one who lacks understanding. Don't keep taking the bait just because it's dangled. Sometimes look beyond the foolish post unless the Lord directs otherwise. Or else you find yourself looking less than smart. And there are a lot of foolish post on cc.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

2 Timothy 4:1-5
4 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: [SUP]2 [/SUP]preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, [SUP]4 [/SUP]and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

1 Timothy 1
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and of Christ Jesus, who is our hope,[SUP]2 [/SUP]To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]As I urged you upon my departure for Macedonia, remain on at Ephesus so that you may instruct certain men not to teach strange doctrines, [SUP]4 [/SUP]nor to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which give rise to mere speculation rather than furthering the administration of God which is by faith. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But the goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. [SUP]6 [/SUP]For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, [SUP]7 [/SUP]wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, [SUP]9 [/SUP]realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers [SUP]10 [/SUP]and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, [SUP]11 [/SUP]according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, [SUP]13 [/SUP]even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief; [SUP]14 [/SUP]and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. [SUP]15 [/SUP]It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. [SUP]17 [/SUP]Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, [SUP]19 [/SUP]keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. [SUP]20 [/SUP]Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.

I would say that the bible should be used less as a weapon and more as a tool - Giving instruction with patience and love, but at the same time we must stand firm in the teachings of the Bible (not rolling over for many of the false teachings that people are spreading today).

The fact that you think like this is scary. It is war and you need a weapon at the ready. It is not a tool but a weapon and you cant reduce it to a hammer or pliers it has more power than that. If you truly believe in standing firm are you standing firm with tools or weapons as described in scripture
[h=3]2 Corinthians 10:1-6[/h]King James Version (KJV)

10 Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
[SUP]4 [/SUP](For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

2 Corinthians 10:1-6

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Romans 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

I guess it would be my opinion that the Word in my hands is to be given with patience, but in the hand of the Lord it is a weapon. I do not see the Word of God as something that I attack people with.

Galatians 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Corinthians 13
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [SUP]2 [/SUP]If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [SUP]3 [/SUP]And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
[SUP]4[/SUP]Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, [SUP]5 [/SUP]does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, [SUP]6 [/SUP]does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [SUP]7 [/SUP]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For we know in part and we prophesy in part; [SUP]10 [/SUP]but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. [SUP]11 [/SUP]When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. [SUP]12 [/SUP]For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. [SUP]13[/SUP]But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

No you don't attack people you attack the sin, the lies, the deceptions the demonic activities that will come through people but not the people themselves. The word in your hands is only as powerful as you are to use it. We are the mouthpieces of God in the earth how else can we wage ware if we have no weapons is all I am saying. That is why so many Christian take such beatings inability to effectively use their weapons. Yeah Yeah Jesus is love and all that but he is a warrior too! Never forget that the enemy wont Just a thought
