I used to believe that Bill O'Riley was in more dire need of a spiritual awakening to the Book of Ecclesiastes than any white man in History............but Allin is causing me to reevaluate that.........sigh........

Oh wow that's so powerful, Allin's message made you realize how desperately you need a spiritual awakening? That's a great testimony to Allin's thread. Those scoffers, mockers, and name callers are goin to haft to eat their words now. Good job, I've read your posts and thought you were in dire need also but as a Christian who has the love of Christ one must show true love and compassion and the tender mercy of God when telling someone that. It's not something a follower of Christ would just haphazardly throw out there. Glad you could be so humble as to take an honest look at yourself but now the hard part will come. Pray more and stay strong in the Word :)

are we assuming that there are not Christians who think outside of what they are told? Or don't think scientifically - i guess i'd have to hear what you mean by that statement = in logical fallacies as the Scientific Method itself?

Logically speaking is Biblically Speaking ultimately

maybe we shouldn't go to charismatic churches

100percent with you about selfish Christians. Also about paying ministers. Did Jesus charge? Did Paul require a salary? Did anyone in the NT demand offerings or donations? Nope! The church draws 1Tim.5:17 like a gun to support the 'double wage' misconception. The Greek for honor here is time which the bulk of the definition means respect, honor, value.
The closer to the mark Greek for wages is opsonion meaning wage, compensation, salary, money but this word is not used in 1Tim. 5:17. Why? Because it does not mean a double salary or offering.

What about the selfish christian deal? I believe the biggest problem for this condition is because of lack of spiritual growth due to just sitting in a pew and paying one man or a team to perform for us. 1Cor12 and 14 is in total contrast to this Sunday morning paradigm. The body of Christ has been taught that just going to church and doing nothing but listening is their required duty by God. This is a travesty. Pew sitting students that never ever graduate. They remain babes, impotent, and powerless, not to mention broke, a lot of the low end earners.
The ekklesia cannot grow up unto the fullness of Christ and His stature by just sucking on a bottle of milk week after week. They must be allowed to use the gifts and functions that God has deposited in them.
as the Pharisees ruled and reigned and the people were subservients to them, so is the same today in Christendom with its ruling class of clerics and the check writing audience.
Thus the body has no fullness of His Spirit in their lives. Like the Dead Sea, nothing coming in, nothing going out. Selfishness abides in some. In others, pain.

Jesus desires to express Himself through every body part. To each other and to the whole in our gatherings.
Some keep complaining that I keep repeating the same ole stuff. It's because to many are just not getting it yet. Paul repeated these truths over and over again. Does not the word say that some are dull of hearing? This is all way to important to just let it drop and forget about trying to shine the light here. I know I'm gonna get hammered hard again even if I say that I've been the dumbest sheep of all. Took me decades to figure out these things. They are now as clear as the pimple on the end of my nose. Yet I still have not arrived. But I am now free from religion and enjoying my God and hearing Him clearly like I never had before.

funny...............so you are a disciple of Allin? well, to each his own I suspect.............still, funny.........

IN RESPONSE TO YET'S COMMENT ............

John 12:1) Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.2 .) There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.3 .) Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.4 .) Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,5 .) Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?6 .) This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.7 .) Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.8 .) For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

John 13:27)
And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. 28 .) Now no man at the table knew for what intent he spake this unto him. 29 .) For some of them thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor. 30 .) He then having received the sop went immediately out: and it was night.

[THOUGHT…..we all know that Judas was the son of perdition, so that is not the question/argument here. QUESTION…..Judas carried the money bag for Jesus and the Disciples…….where did the money placed in that bag come from? MUSE…. If tithing is unbiblical and not taught by Jesus, why would He receive monetary donations from other people? Surely we all realize that Jesus and the Disciples had need daily of food and drink, where did these come from?]

Matthew 14:14) And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.15 .) And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.16 .) But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.17 .) And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.18 .) He said, Bring them hither to me.19 .) And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.20 .) And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
21 .) And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

[THOUGHT……Jesus was certainly concerned for the physical needs of these people as evidenced in verse 14. QUESTION…..Is there any amount so small given to Jesus that He can not bless and multiply to great amounts? MUSE…..Regardless of what amount of tithe one gives to Jesus, He can bless it and use it for the work of the Kingdom, and for the benefit of the Church. It is also worthy of note that Jesus performed this miracle not just once, but twice!]

Luke 10:1) After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.2 .) Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.3 .) Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.4.) Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. 5 .) And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. 6 .) And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. 7 .) And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. 8 .) And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: 9 .) And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.10 .) But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,11 .) Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

[THOUGHTS……. It is clear that Jesus sent out the 70 without the means to sustain their daily needs. It is also clear that Jesus expected those who the Gospel was being Preached to supply the 70 with the sustenance to fill their daily needs…..QUESTION: If tithing, providing life sustaining sustenance to those who preach the Gospel is not Biblical and a false teaching that Jesus did not teach, why would He have done this? MUSE…..Clearly Jesus believed that those who preach the Gospel are worthy of being sustained by those being preached to. The labourer is worthy of his hire….. The Apostle Paul echo’s this teaching in 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Timothy 5:17) Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 .) For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.]

Matthew 6:31) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?32 .) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33 .) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34 .) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

[THOUGHTS…..We should all agree that this teaching applies to all the Church. And would that NOT include those who preach the Gospel?..... QUESTIONS…. If it does apply to Preachers as well, why would Jesus say that? Given that those Preachers who receive personal reward for their service are “false teachers,” wouldn’t Jesus exclude them from this teaching directly? ….. MUSES…..Given that Jesus did not exclude Preachers of the Gospel from this teaching, is it not acceptable to say that those who do preach the Gospel should expect God to provide for their daily needs? Where would these provisions come from?]

1[SUP]st[/SUP] Corinthians 9:1) Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
2 .) If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. 3 .) Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, 4 .) Have we not power to eat and to drink? 5 .) Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? 6 .) Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working? 7 .) Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock? 8 .) Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also? 9 .) For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen? 10 .) Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope. 11.) If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
12.) If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ. 13 .) Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14.) Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.

CONCLUSION:Those who teach that tithing is unbiblical and a false teaching, and teach that preachers/pastors are sinful false preachers/pastors if they accept personal reward for their labour, are simply wrong.
Their second mistake is in believing/asserting that the sole purpose of tithing is to provide for the daily needs of the Pastor/Preacher.Not true. There are many reasons Christian congregations tithe, and providing for the needs of the Pastor/Preacher is just one.

2)
Caring for the widows and orphens

3)Supporting Missionary Ministries around the world
4) Providing for the needs of the congregation
5)Providing for the needy within the community
6)Sustaining the Church building/property
And others as well…………

IF we must identify someone as a “false teacher,” then I am fully persuaded that those who speak against the Word of God, the teachings of Jesus and the Apostle Paul would have to be pointed to.

Tourist said: I'm not feeling the love either. Perhaps I can't take a joke or maybe I just don't get it.

:), and, in reading Scripture Paul and Jesus didn't get it either........... :)

Where did that money come From? Well let's see now. This is a tough one. Wait for it. Wait for it. I got. I got. People donated by their own volition. It was their idea, out of their hearts, not by the preacher begging, promising, and threatening like what goes on today. The good news bearers of the first century trusted God to meet their needs by a little thing called faith, not like the faithless faith preachers/teachers of today.

Sounds like an oxymoron.

The Bible doesn't support ministers being paid to minister. If there's any support for that, the ministers are not paid by those to whom they minister but by their own independent work (independent work meaning jobs they hold outside of ministry to the people). It is a real pain that the mindsets we've grown up with have to rule our lives until our minds are renewed (myself included). We think that you have to give to get and that there must be give and take which prevents understanding. Ministers are never to be paid for ministering, because that is an oxymoron. If Jesus is the main example and He wasn't paid nor did He receive payment for ministry, then are ministers greater than He is. Ministers can accept gifts for ministering (unfortunately, many deceiving ministers have attached this word 'gift' to everything in order to deceive people into thinking they aren't rewarding the minister but giving freewill gifts of their free will when it is really under manipulation and compulsion); but they should not be paid by a board or commission and especially not by the people. Payment for a ministry is an oxymoron.

Anyone who requires that someone else or their children pay them for parenting their children can lawfully believe that ministers should be paid by either some board or by their children. Anyone who thinks that this notion is ridiculous should apply it directly to ministry and ministers who expect or receive payment for ministry. It is an oxymoron and, when it comes down to it, an abomination. Paul said this regarding this whole 'give and take' curse that we have come to believe: "Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved" (2Cor. 12:14-15). Let me dissect some of what he said:

1. "I am ready to come to you." Paul was looking forward to going to the Corinthians so he could build them up or help them along... for free. Today, ministers want you to beg and pay them before they come to you, but Paul was of his own free will ready to go to the Corinthians.

2. "I will not be burdensome to you." Today, people are so burdened by ministers that they are accustomed to it and don't see it as burdensome anymore. It's like living so long with say a back pain that you no longer find it bothersome though it continues to be so. Paul would not make the people uncomfortable or feel obligated to do anything.

3. "I do not seek yours but you." This is practically 100% unheard of today-- a minister who isn't wanting to (and won't) take anything from his congregation but actually seeking (looking for ways) to bless the people for their own sakes, building them up selflessly like parents do their children.

4. "The children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children". There are many people who bend and twist like snakes around the Word in order not to 'do it'; but it's hard to scrutinize what Paul says there and claim that it doesn't apply to every minister: the minister, like the parent, is the one who blesses or has the primary responsibility to bless. Like a parent puts away money for a child (for college, gifts, etc.), so a minister (every minister) is to have the mindset <of a parent> to have more to give to the children (since the parent always has more than the children) and not look for the children to give to the parents. In our hybrid abomination of a ministry model, the children are expected to give to the parents or pay the parents for 'taking care of them'. Who has ever heard of such a thing in a family.

Some of the only kinds of payment that the Bible accepts:

a.) The minister has his own job or source of income outside of the religious system which he uses to support himself. That frees him to do God's work without deception (i.e. desiring from the work and people the things he doesn't have from his own daily life, money being one of the primary things). If a husband denies his wife the necessary things she needs (and vice versa), they will go seeking it somewhere (even if their feet don't walk out to seek it (if they aren't consciously looking for it), their heart will (they'll subconsciously be desiring/seeking it)). In the same way, if a minister doesn't get what he needs outside of the ministry (things like attention, love, money, and a whole list of things that many ministers seek in ministry and from the people), he will inevitably seek them inside the ministry. (Many wives and spouses and kids and everything else but the minister are neglected because of this.)

b.) The minister receives money from another ministry or other Christians who are not part of those he ministers to but does not receive money from those to whom he presently ministers to. This keeps motives and consciences from being defiled and suspicious and uncomfortable and leaves the doors of accusation and suspicion of the minister closed to the enemy.

c.) The minister receives money and other material things from those he ministers to but never ever asks for them (EVER). Paul said that because his church ministered to his need, God would supply their need. This exchange doesn't happen when ministers beg, because God has to take a backseat then. People gave gifts to Jesus in different ways; some women followed and supplied His needs. He didn't refuse their gifts though He directly ministered to them; but He certainly wasn't asking for their gifts either. Jesus' model gives us the secret to the fourth acceptable form of payment:

d.) If a minister ministers well or as he's supposed to, the people will have no choice but to reciprocate with gifts. We see this in the life of Jesus and Paul. Moreover, when the Bible says to not deny those who rule well, it is not saying to give to those who just minister. (Paul throughout 2Cor. blasted false ministers; he certainly wouldn't advocate giving to anyone who was after money and fame.) It is saying to give to those who actually administer Grace. If you went to a restaurant and ordered lobster but got fish bones, how eager would you be to leave a tip (after you shared some of your mind with the manager). You pay for what you ordered, not what the waiter wants to feed you. Ministers who administer the Grace of God are worthy of pay. No other minister in the Bible is worthy of pay nor are we told to pay them. We have mixed up our give-take culture with the Bible and believe we are required to give when given to or that 'a workman is worthy of his pay'. Most people don't pay a plumber who makes things worse or doesn't fix anything; is God less intelligent on what minister to pay. (Unfortunately, many want to hear and receive the empty things ministers offer, so they lose nothing by paying.)

5. "I will gladly spend and be spent for your souls." If the last premise (parent giving to child and not vice versa) could be twisted to mean other than it means, this one can't be. To spend "for you" is much less serious than to spend "for your souls". 'Souls' means all-around well-being; it implies a total and complete covering: Paul was willing to minister to the people in every part. Sounds like 24/7 ministry to me. Today, we clock in and clock out; the real model of ministry has no place in our time at present. Paul is willing to both spend (give) and be spent (be used) so that the Corinthians can have the fullness of Life Jesus promised in Jn. 10:10. Who has even heard those words used together (in any context) in the last fifty years. We know he is willing to not only give but be used because he follows...

6. "though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved." Paul has a parent's heart. Some ministers who are half-smart would say that only apostles are to feel that way toward their flock... but not so fast. That heart is God's heart toward His Church, therefore, it is to be in every single minister even if with different expressions. Paul is saying, "Even if you don't love me and take my love for granted, I will still love you." This kind of heart can only come from God, because it's counter-intuitive to (and even unwise for) human nature (there is no self-preservation about it).

The Bible says not to muzzle an ox while it treads out grain, but it says to "know those who labor among you". We are already paying all the wrong people and building the empires of people who are not even Christians. If we know who we are supposed to pay (and if we aren't okay with paying God off, by paying just any minister, so He can leave us alone), then what the Bible says begins to make sense or line up. Pay and give to those who actually are laborers (Jesus told the disciples to pray for Him to send out laborers after which He sent them out and they had effect) and not to those who are not.

Well I read a bunch of posts for and against coffe and I see no real harm in it because I in fact attens a church where coffee is served after service..

and these men start talking and saying amen brother and talking about how God is good and they sip their coffee and then tall about testimonies and plans to visit other churches and sip coffee and talk and soon forget they had coffee and keep talking and go on warming their cold coffee... and then anotther amen brother God is good and what I see is them relaxes but they don't forget God and God doesn't forget them no matter what their measure of faith is.

Anyway anything that we attach ourselves to in this world as a comfort object will always be rejected by those who actually seek the truth. We can't judge Christians who have earthly chains if we have the chains of fleshy life upon us.

I prefer a more undersrandable topic I guess bc I understand you say our flesh denies God but that can be explained any other way just line the pie vs the bible thing you said flesh loves natural and thats easier to understand than coffee denies God.

Mr. Your post done flung a craving on me...I gotta go get a cup of coffee!

I was going to say something funny, but I'm starting to be scared that my jokes may have the same effect as coffee... Oops, there it went :) All 'foods' are good if taken with thanksgiving (God-focused rather than self-focused), so I guess we will have to include coffee in that.

wait did I read that right?

Did Allin just say its alright to drink coffee if its God-focused rather than self-focused? per scripture?

  • Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
  • Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

... Paul was not a burden to the Corinthians because he got money from other churches to support him....

Lol. It was someone else using my laptop when I left it alone for a few minutes. No, what goes into a person doesn't make them unclean. I thought this was really elementary (what goes into a person vs. the flesh, etc.), but at least it made for some light conversation.

... Paul was not a burden to the Corinthians because he got money from other churches to support him....

Right. And Paul also had his own job. Lol. Job. Ministry is supposed to be work... but it's not supposed to be a job.

I'm not going to pretend I'm perfect, I'm absolutely not, but Allin, you clearly can't see your prideful ways are pushing people away (it's not your 'truthful' insights).

It's sad that you're sticking to your guns. Everyone has pride, but in my life, only the more prideful people have ever been 'concerned' about my own pride. They were so 'concerned' that they had to convince me that I was proud; they suddenly wanted to save my soul and didn't even know me. I go to some places (like the gym) and guys part like the Red Sea when I come walking through; cars stop when they're close enough to pass when I'm crossing the streets. They can all say it's because I'm proud, or they can just chill out. I know exactly what it is, so thanks for your 'concern'. You're just another person whose concern wasn't for me but for your own belief that you should be able to dictate another person's reality by telling them bad things about themselves. I prefer that you stop posting to my threads. If I was like you, I would tell you all the things that make me better than you; but you're crying all over the place because you've only slightly perceived it. Your misery is your own, and following my posts when I don't read yours says it all. If we met in real life, you might go home and shoot yourself. But I'll be nice.
