Got another bridal shower cake to make this evening.
Pipp, I won't be having a bridal shower any time soon. I'm not getting married. I'm not engaged. I don't even have a boyfriend.

Heck, I don't even have a date tonight. Or any night, as far as the future seems concerned.

So... the important matter here, obviously, is...

Will you still make me a cake?

My thoughts this morning... Drown me in my selfishness...

My thoughts this evening... God is the God who restores... In this I must believe.

Thank you Lord for providing a promise of hope and healing. <3

Yeah! It was awesome. The children decided to play a Happy Birthday party CD, and then one of my Kindergarten children was singing me happy birthday at the top of her lungs with fits of giggles in between every two words. (Even though it's only half way to my birthday)

Earlier on in the day, the children lined up and took turns as I picked a child up and waltzed around the room barefoot. Then again one does not simply 'waltz' so I began flinging and tossing the children around which had them all overly excited. This lead them to crowd around me squabbling over whose turn it was next, but there's always that ONE child who takes things too far. A little girl grabbed the back of my pants while a child was in my hands and then tried to pull them down, SO we had to have the talk about respecting each other's bodies and about appropriate ways to engage your teacher.

But I made sure to tell each child a reason I was proud of them and to encourage them in a certain area, like, I would literally get in their face, with my serious face, and tell them the wonderful areas I have seen them grow in and that it made me proud and my heart smile. ( I don't know if you'll believe me, but I hold myself very professionally at work, but there is always some point in the day where the 'real' me comes out, the whimsical side that I probably only really feel comfortably showing children)

Then we had sugary goods, and they went crazy. I was crazy because it was Friday, so we had an entire day without looking at anything related to literacy, numeracy, science or the lot. We basically played silly buggers all day. It was good.

And I just thought, we need to celebrate life and the small victories more often. I'm glad I can have that with 4-5 year olds, they are constantly teaching me what it means to live in the moment and to look on with wonder and curiosity, to live a life of honesty and purity. I know at the end of the year they're going to leave me, and I absolutely hate good byes. Good byes are my enemy. It honestly pricks my heart to know that after this I won't be a part of their lives anymore... but at least, at some point in their lives, I held them and we danced, and rejoiced and we grew together. That someone believed in them, even if it was a time when they were very young and probably a memory that would soon be forgotten.

I can never just say, 'I had a good day' and be simple about explaining something. I always go off in tangents. BLAST!
Wow, Arlene! You're a real hero to these children! It sounds like far more is expected of kids these days. I remember kindy and we didn't have to do literacy, numeracy, science etc. it was very different. I think you're doing an excellent job but I can't help thinking society should just let kids be kids for awhile. There's plenty of time for more formal learning during school (but even the play style of learning still works best).

As a primary teacher and a male, it's difficult. We have far more boundaries. I understand the need for such rules, to protect the child and the adult, but sometimes it goes too far. You can't even comfort a child when they're injured, or have been bullied or are just upset about something. I find that part of the job awfully difficult, as I'm a fairly nurturing person.

My sweet baby has pink eye, my wonderful fiancé hasn't been feeling well, my amazing best friend just had yet another miscarriage (her fourth in a row), and her parents just got in a car wreck... Somehow I'm feeling like this is all my fault... I don't know why I feel that way, but I do, and I feel completely helpless to try and fix it :(

Unless you specifically did something to cause each one of these, I don't see how it could be your fault, especially the miscarriage. I think you are feeling a certain type of guilt similar to survival guilt, not sure what it would be called. (Aimee is there a name for this type?) Anyway, if you are having a lot of really great things going in your life, (with the exception of baby with pink eye), then it could be you feel guilty that others are having a rough time while you're not. But then, if the baby is keeping you up while he's sick, you may not be getting enough sleep which is causing all these guilty feelings. Anyway, the short story is, you are not responsible for what happens to others.

Hugs from over here.

I guess you could say that today I felt a sense of peace, gratefulness, inspiration and intrigue that I haven't felt in a very long time.
I feel that God is almost done mending a specific area of my heart that helps me feel love for other people again and I am beginning to dive in! With, PEACE and fearlessness.
This is how I used to be with the wrong motives, and now that my motives are being transformed by the Will of God everyone around is experiencing the kingdom!
Cold, callused hearts like mine!

I am beginning to see exactly why God made me deficient in some areas of life.
It is so they see.

You obvious have your priorities in the right order. I used to do some baking of my own in my younger days but I never used dates. Perhaps your future husband will use the question that you posed as a marriage proposal.

I had such a weird dream last night...I dreamed that the local newspaper wanted to interview me again for a follow-up story about my mom, even though they already said something....
