Thank you homwardbound! God bless you. I have been following this thread and it makes me sad to see people bickering over something that is so so special. And, I don't want to stir - but it is something I wish God will bless others with. I know I am happy He did it for me!
I do not think people are stirring over the act itself. It is a great experience, we have our bog one here in a few weaks. I love all the testimonies.

The argument is against people saying we are saved by this work. which would be a false gospel. and doing a wonderful work, on false pretenses, which takes away from the work itself. which is sad.

I get that. It is sad. When we are told to do something by man, when actually it is God who should be leading us. And no, I think the act itself does not save you but it sure does change a few things in your life - but only, and a big ONLY, if God was present at your baptism! I think sometimes it is just an act in front of man, because man (or the church) said you must do it.

YOU was created by GOD and for that purpose I am of GOD and GOD knows ME, dipped in water or chocolate, if I smell different and taste different and I look different I always sound the same...GOD knows ME....Communication with GOD is not through the flesh but through that which is not...water from the earth does nothing for My knowing GOD. I know GOD and water had no part. """I KNOW GOD! Wanna grab a scripture to prove that wrong....""""

lol.. Your not saved by water, I agree 100%,

But God commanded you to be baptized, and commanded those who are over you to baptize you. If you rejet and disobay, you are in sin.

so why would you openly sin? if you claim to have faith in God. Sorry I just can;t see it.

God commanded no such thing
And what bible do you read?

He commanded the disiples to go into all nations, make disciples and baptise them

Peter demanded eeryone who repented and recieved the gift of the spirit to be baptized.

Water baptism is all over the NT,

God came to earth so he could send you the HS to baptize you into his death, burial, body and himself. and one day soon baptize you into his ressurection.

your pastor has no power to cleanse you and make you clean, nor does he have any power to baptize you into Christ.

The HS does this, your replacing the work of the HS with the work of a sinner.

As I proved, No one was saved by being circumcized. No one will be saved by being baptized in water. They are types or symbols of what God does for us. plain and simple.

The bible does not promise anyone today baptism with the HS. The false idea is created out of thin air for no other reason than try to find a way to get around the necessity of water baptism.

There are many instances in the Word when people received the Holy Spirit, and were later baptized. The reverse holds true also. I received the Holy Spirit first, and later, out of obedience, I was baptized. I do not see folks wanting to avoid immersion in these threads; I see genuine desire to learn about the subject.

a preacher didn't save me.

1 Cor 1:21 praching saves. Rom 10:14 how can one believe who has not heard, and how can one hear without a preacher?

baptism didn't save me.
1 Pet 3:21 baptism doth also now save us

posthuman said:
good works didn't save me.
Good works keep the Christian in a saved position, Eph 2:10; Matt 25

posthuman said:
studying scripture didn't save me.
James 1:21
the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. How can one be saved not knowing what the bible teaches?

posthuman said:
repentance didn't save me.
Lk 13:3,5 repent or perish

posthuman said:
taking communion didn't save me.
Communion is for those already Christians/saved

posthuman said:
prayer didn't save me.
A "sinner's prayer" will not save anyone for it takes belief repentance confession and baptism to be saved

posthuman said:
evangelizing didn't save me.
How can one be saved not knowing anything about the bible, about Christ, about faith etc, etc?

posthuman said:
going to church didn't save me.
It's required of those that are already Christians, Acts 20:7

posthuman said:
observing a sabbath day didn't save me.
Keeping the OT law will not save anyone

posthuman said:
fasting didn't save me.
Christ nor His apostles taught one must fast for remission of sins.

posthuman said:
debating theology didn't save me.
Christ said one must believe, repent confes and be baptized to be saved. He never made debating a necessity to being saved

posthuman said:
reciting a rosary prayer didn't save me.
It will not save anyone. Salvation is promised to those that belisve, repent confess and baptized

posthuman said:
kneeling at an altar didn't save me.
Jesus never said it would save

posthuman said:
separating myself from wickedness didn't save me.
Continuing in wickedness will not save you. Repentance is necessary to get away from wickedness.

posthuman said:
Jesus, the essence of God made flesh, who came and gave Himself to be crucified for my sin, and rose again the third day -

JESUS saved me.

Heb 5:9 Christ is the author of salvation unto all them that OBEY HIM.

And so you make this doctrine, and so no one can be saved unless they do this as they did

Now if it were recorded in Acts that these were saved over the radio, would that become Doctrine, that no one can be saved but over the radio?

But you've yet to say who the ones in Acts 2 that were being saved. Are you trying to avoid having to say that those in Acts 2 that were being saved are the ones that obeyed Acts 2:38?
