Ecclesiastes 10
18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.
19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.
20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
You quote this verse to me whenever I talk about this, but you cannot have an understanding of this at all. Can a ton of money save my soul? THEN BY HOW YOU ARE USING IT, IT CANNOT ANSWER THAT NOW CAN IT??
So what is "money" referred to in this verse?
Ecclesiastes 1:13-18
[SUP]
13 [/SUP]And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
[SUP]
14 [/SUP]
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
[SUP]
15 [/SUP]
That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
[SUP]
16 [/SUP]I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
[SUP]
17 [/SUP]And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
[SUP]
18[/SUP]
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Why did it increase sorrow? Because this was the precipice of the wisdom of men and what you believe this verse to be about. Solomon was the richest man in the world, probably by even todays standards!
Proverbs 10:20-22
[SUP]
20 [/SUP]
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
[SUP]
21 [/SUP]
The lips of the righteous feed many:
but fools die for want of wisdom.
[SUP]
22 [/SUP]
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Solomon had his sorrow INCREASED. But the "money" the comes from the LORD makes rich AND ADDS NO SORROW WITH IT. A key to what is money to God is given in the verses as it is the tongue and the words spoken by it. Let's continue.
Isaiah 55:1-3
55 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
How do we buy something without money??? It can only be given freely.
Mark 8:36-38
[SUP]
36 [/SUP]
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
[SUP]
37 [/SUP]
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
How much money do you think it takes to answer that one!?
[SUP]
38 [/SUP]Whosoever therefore shall be
ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
So if the words of the Just is as choice silver, then what are His words?
John 6:63-64
[SUP]
63 [/SUP]
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
[SUP]
64 [/SUP]
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
His words are Spirit and Life. And the choicest GOLD that makes a soul rich, AND ADDS NO SORROW TO IT! Also notice that He KNEW who would betray HIM. Why? Because He knows as Solomon did, that what is crooked cannot be made straight, and that those that were wanting will always be countless and poor.
Revelation 3:
[SUP]
16 [/SUP]So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
[SUP]
17 [/SUP]
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
[SUP]
18 [/SUP]
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
[SUP]
19 [/SUP]As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
But it is just as Isaiah says. We LOVE paying bills and laboring for that which does not satisfy!
