Some chatsites have the option where you FIRST have to click ALLOW to read any PM.
Maybe a solution for all the ladies who are plagued by unwanted personal messages.

I'm guessing you mean in the chat rooms?

I don't get the advantage if so. There may be one, but i don't see it.

I'm guessing the allow button would give us women the option to choose to answer (or not) any pm's from people we dont know. I think it's a good idea and certainly one worth implementing here on CC. :)

But you already have that option. Just don't respond. Or click ignore if they keep trying. So i still don't get it.

In my opinion, as a follower of Jesus, we are people-oriented. I agreed to what Ugly wrote. And Ugly, I feel awkward writing your nickname. I feel like bullying to calll someone like that. (^o^)

We have this customized setting to our PM chat profile. If in Private Messages, it's helpful if it is active. Why? There was this instance when I would like to give long messages then the PM is inactive for the receiver. My other option is VM but the words to send are very limited. And for effective communication, at PM you can reply with quote. If we are bothered with the person giving us PM, better unfriend that person. It's still upon our own discretion. :)

By the way, how's the ignore list operate? Does it have an effect to PM chat or to Inbox? Hope, I won't use that list in the future. :)

By the way, I always encountered this 'OP'. what does it mean? Forgive my being slow. - my pet name here is Ninja Turtle. (^.^)

... duh

So people aren't confronted with the actual message popping up.

Just have to be a jerk about it right?

So it adds an extra step to every PM, taken or not, just to avoid reading a greeting? Still makes no sense.

The ignore feature in the Chats is on each persons PM box. But it is not permanent. Once you close chat all the ignores are reset.

There is also a forum ignore which ignores all posts by a user, also blocking them from inboxing you or writing on your wall. It has no effect on chat rooms. But if someone quotes this user it will not block the quote, so you can still see their posts that way. But it still seems to be worth it for some.

Just hit the ignore button on the person that PMs you, especially if you have "no PMs" or something to that effect on your message box message in chat. That's what I do and it works out fine.

Jer2911: "OP" stands for "original poster"....I think! I just figured it out yesterday :)

I know. I said that already in post #5.

And yes, OP is original poster. Or sometimes original post.

It doesn't have to a BE greeting. Hey, maybe it's just you who doesn't get it, blue_ladybug said it right.

I did? Yay!!! LOL. :) I think it would be great. A little box that pops up and says something like "didymos is sending a pm-accept or deny". That way WE can decide who to talk to in PM, and when. :)

Ummmm, but you already can make that choice. If someone sends you a PM that you do not wish to respond to all you need to do is click the little red "X" in the upper right corner. There is no requirement that any user respond to a PM (other than from staff) that they do not wish to.

... but by then you probably already have read the PM. I know some ladies are plagued by unwanted messages they don't want to read in the first place, let alone respond to them.

If they're that bad they need to be reported anyways.

Hmm! that "option buttom" is still your will to read or give a reply.
PM s are not really invasive, except those molesting ladies while approaching to get whatever thing they wanted.
