For example: When you step on a high speed train, it gets you from Point A to Point B really fast. You could not travel on your own at the speeds that a high speed train can do on your own power. For Jesus said you can do nothing without Him. Just as you cannot go from Point A to Point B really fast as a train without the train. God does the "good work" witin you. You merely choose to abide with Christ so as to let His Spirit flow thru you or not (Philippians 2:13). You merely choose to get on the train and let it take you from Point A to Point B really fast.

To put it to you another way, you cannot say that YOU (on your own power) are actually traveling from Point A to Point B really fast. It is the train that is moving fast. But yet you are moving fast because you are on the train. It's the same with works. Jesus said you cannot do any works without Him. Meaning, it is Christ that does the work. Which means that the answer on who does the actual work ultimately is "not you." Yes, we surrender and yield to God. But then God transforms and moves His Spirit within us. Can we resist God? Sure you can. But you would be resisting what the Lord wants to do within you and not resisting an external work that you think is saving you. God (Christ) does the work. For Jesus deserves all the glory, honor, and power. It's why the 24 elders cast down their crowns before Jesus.

Rebellion is the issue not sin in and of itself.

Sin literally means to miss the mark. One can miss the mark due to rebellion or lack of understanding. It is the former which is a sin unto death whilst the latter is a sin not unto death.

Jesus preached repentance because He knew that the rebellion must cease for one to be pardoned. God does not pardon anyone who continues in rebellion. To do so would make mockery of His justice.

He that does what is right is righteous is what Scripture teaches. Abel was a righteous man because he DID that which was right.

Satan wants people to believe that they can willfully choose evil and yet possess a forensic cloak of righteousness. It is a theological dress up of the original lie of "you can sin and not surely die."

God is looking at the heart as all action proceeds from the condition of the heart.

It is the pure in heart that will see God.

Yet many have been deceived into believing that the "filthy in heart" can see God if they have a "forensic cloak of righteousness" due to a belief in a false understanding of the cross.
I liked a lot of what you were saying until I read it again and I could not agree with the willful sin part.I do agree that we need to renew our minds and not be rebellious,but when you use rebellious in the way of willful sin then I would have to disagree because when you say rebellious sin then we all are rebellious in the way you are saying it.
Gluttony is a sin and you can eat one large meal at one sitting and you might gain one or two pounds,but in order to become overweight you would have to overeat over and over again,and wouldn't that be a willful sin,
I know some people might say that is ridiculous to compare murder with overeating and say that a sin like gluttony is a willful sin.
In the eyes of men they would see it that way,but in the eyes of GOD a sin is a sin ,big or small and not acceptable.
So what I am saying is we all or guilty of willful sin in some area in the eyes of GOD.
And that's why I think man has a hard time understanding(OSAS)
sin gives satan access to our bodies,but our spirits have been sealed and sin can't penetrate it.
So then for those that or in CHIRST,sin was dealt with and our fight is to stay in faith.

First of all. Hitler committed suicide (Which is a sin you can't repent of), so he will not be among the many saints that are following Christ at His return. Second, you completely ignored the passages I brought up and are focusing a laser beam only upon those words or passages that you prefer. I just demonstrated to you that salvation is not in Baptism. For I do not disagree that a true believer will naturally have works if their faith is true. Like I said before. I am not denying that a true believer will have works within their life. For I believe James when he says faith without works is dead. You don't seem to be understandingj that. The key difference between us is not that we are in disagreement about a true believer should have much fruit, the difference between us is that I believe Jesus saves me and you believe

We both believe works are necessary for the true believer's life.
No disagreement on that point.
But how we both acheived salvation is completely two different ways.

Yours salvation is Christ + Legalism.
My salvation is simply Jesus Christ.
Legalism is not found in the Bible, when most people use the word legalism, they really mean obedience. Of course, they would never admit to that. How can obedience to what God says take away anything from Christ. That iis always strange to me.

Here is a really good article that might help you to understand:

Holiness is beautiful, legalism is binding; holiness brings life, legalism brings death. They are as different as night and day, and yet at first glance they can seem similar, because they both stand against sinful behavior and call for holy living. How can we distinguish between the two?

Legalism is rules without relationship, emphasizing standards more than the Savior, and laws more than love. It is a system based on fear and characterized by joyless judgmentalism, producing futility instead of freedom.
To an unsaved person, the legalist preaches justification by works, saying, “You’re a wicked sinner and you need to get rid of all your filthy habits if you want the Lord to accept you.” There is no grace in this message; no exalting of the life-changing, sin-cleansing power of the blood of Jesus; no clear proclamation of mercy.

The declaration of God’s love expressed through the cross is muffled, if it is even heard at all. Consequently, the proof of the new birth is seen almost entirely in what someone no longer does, and this continues to be the pattern for believers within the church: They are judged almost entirely by a few external standards (which, in many cases, are not even expressly mentioned in the Word) and they are monitored by conformity to the particular group’s code of conduct. The result is external conformity rather than inward transformation—and that means either self-righteousness of self-condemnation (or both!).

Of course, it is absolutely true that God has very high standards, and for anyone honestly reading the Word, there can be no doubt that He calls us to live by very high standards—in our thoughts, words and deeds; in our attitudes; in our sexuality; in our families; in our relationships; and much, much more. (See Eph. 5:1-6.)

Tragically, legalists—despite their best intentions—get things terribly wrong. First, they try to change a person from the outside in, whereas God deals with us from the inside out. Second, they fail to present a balanced picture of the Lord, putting too little stress on His mercy and too much emphasis on His wrath. Third, they do not point the struggling sinner (or believer) to the Lord’s supernatural empowerment, making holiness a matter of human effort alone. Finally, they add laws, standards, commandments, customs and traditions that are not found in the Word, making those things even more important than the biblical commandments themselves.

In contrast, true, scriptural holiness begins with the heart and flows from an encounter with God and His Word. It calls for repentance in response to the Lord’s gracious offer of salvation and it offers a way to be holy—the blood of Jesus and the Spirit of God. Biblical holiness is free, although it requires discipline and perseverance. For the legalist, nothing is free. Everything must be earned! That’s why legalism leads to bondage and holiness leads to liberty.

As Ralph Cudworth explained many years ago, “I do not mean by holiness the mere performance of outward duties of religion, coldly acted over, as a task; not our habitual prayings, hearings, fastings, multiplied one upon another (though these be all good, as subservient to a higher end); but I mean an inward soul and principle of divine life (Rom. 8:1-5), that spiriteth all these.”

It is that inward spiritual principle that must be cultivated—the principle of intimacy with Jesus, the principle of being renewed in our minds by His Word and Spirit, the principle of being conformed to His image and character, hating what He hates and loving what He loves.

As Dr. Kent Hughes expressed in his book Disciplines of a Godly Man, “There is a universe of difference between the motivations behind legalism and discipline. Legalism says, ‘I will do this thing to gain merit with God,’ while discipline says, ‘I will do this because I love God and want to please him.’ Legalism is man-centered; discipline is God-centered.”

Unfortunately, the moment you preach biblical holiness, many Christians put their hands over their ears and say, “That’s legalism! That’s condemnation! That’s man-made religion! That’s the dead letter of the law! You won’t put me in bondage! I won’t listen to stuff like that!” As Robert Brimstead observed, “The idea of living strictly by what the Bible says has been branded as legalism.”


And so, these Christians run from the dangerous clutches of legalism and fall into the deadly grasp of license—that self-deceived state of fleshly liberty, catering to their carnality rather than crucifying it. What a terrible error!


Whatever comes naturally to these “liberated” believers is accepted as normal (and “understood,” of course, by the Lord), while biblical commandments are brought down to the level of their own experience, and anything that brings any kind of spiritual pressure to bear on them is rejected as not being the easy yoke and light burden of Jesus. And when the Holy Spirit brings conviction on people like this, they rebuke the devil for trying to condemn them.


To quote Oswald Chambers, “Liberty means ability not to violate the law; license means personal insistence on doing what I like. … To be free from the law means that I am the living law of God, there is no independence of God in my make-up. License is rebellion against all law. If my heart does not become the center of divine love, it may become the center of diabolical license.”


What then is the antidote? Flee from legalism, stay far away from license, and run to holiness. Reject humanly birthed, external religion. Give no place to false teaching that excuses carnality, and instead, embrace new covenant, heart transformation—and in the power of the Spirit, supernaturally enabled by God’s grace, deal ruthlessly with sin in your life. That is the path to freedom!

Believing Jesus, Yeshua we understand by Him and His Example.
We certainly may not look at the law and pick and choose. We look to Yeshua, Jesus, and He shows us which are to be followed. He is the Lamb of Yahweh for beginners, so which laws do you suppose He has taken care of here?

He teaches us nothing by entering the body will corrupt a person, but that which proceeds from a wicked heart of a man does corrupt; does this teach you anything?

Again, He teaches that He desires mercy and not sacrificed, and not to judge others lest we be judged by that same judgment. He gave mercy where the law required punishment, and this is the most telling and revealing of which laws are to be followed. Y

es, for many transgressions a person is worthy of death, but Yeshua had company on the cross, the curse of the law, and that curse is punishment and death. The law is now completed, fulfilled, but the law will always be as long as the earth and sky are in existence.

Do not come back with having had the law as a tutor or guardian until Messiah, for had you had the law as such, you would know all the above, for the law points to Yeshua, Jesus.

I pray the Holy Spirit in all teaches these truths about our Salvation, Yeshua, amen.

God will be my judge. Not you. I know what was in my heart and thoughts in that previous photo and there was nothing sinister within it. What you have been saying about the photo and me was wrong and I would like an apology; Not that I am expecting one. I changed my Avatar to another just so that you would stop disrupting the thread. In this new photo I uploaded, I was with my fiance (but I am only showing myself for obvious reasons).

Oh, and no. I do not claim to know everything, either. I have admitted my mistakes many times before openly on another Christian forum (Which means I don't know everything). So no. You would be wrong again, my friend.

Anyways, I hope you pray you find peace so as not to judge others like you do.
For it does not show the love that we are supposed to have for each other as believers.

Anyways, getting back on topic, here are 10 verses from Paul that refutes OSAS:


  • Ephesians 2:2-3 - Paul says in times past the believers at Ephesus walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, which is the same spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: Paul also says to them that they used to have their conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and WERE by nature the children of wrath, even as others.


  • 2 Corinthians 7:10 - Godly sorrow over sin leads Christians to repent, which leads to salvation.


  • Galatians 5:19-21 - Anyone practicing such sins (the works of the flesh) will not inherit the kingdom of God.


  • Galatians 5:24 - Those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.


  • Galatians 6:7-8 - Don't be deceived: sowing to the flesh reaps corruption, sowing to the Spirit reaps eternal life.


  • 1 Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith.

On the one hand you say we have to do the work . Then you say it is not us but Christ doing the work. God gave us power to do the work, that is what the HS is for. So we are working together with God. He gives us the power we make the choices in doing the work and we give him the glory. This is how Paul puts it...I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. [SUP]13 [/SUP]I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Jesus put it this way...“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
He did not say ...you must do nothing, you will naturally have works, we have to learn to do it.

In Matt 25 Jesus did not say ....Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as I did it not to one of the least of these, I did it not to me.

And we give him all the glory...

Any person with faith cannot resist acting upon it. Faith is the fuel of good works. Anything one does to honor our Maker is counted as righteousness, works. Praise our Maker! If one believes Jesus is the Son of the Most High God, this too is works. Jesus answered when asked what one must do to be doing the works of God that he should believe in Him Whom He sent. Most people coming into this forum believe in Whom Yahweh sent. Like it or not, they are working.

Think about it. James is saying faith without works is no faith at all. This allows for true faith to instigate works, for the new nature of the individual caused by this gift is impetus to works.......


I disagree else James would not have to write ...faith without works is dead....if one cannot resist acting upon faith then James writing is pointless...

You are answering your own inquiry within the post. We are never apart from Jesus, Yeshua, once we believe Him. Believing Him is faith, and this faith is from the Father having drawn us to the Son, for no man may come to the Son unless the Father draws him to Him. Love ensues in quantity, and from love and faith come works. There is no manner of avoiding works; it is the new nature. He serves also who waits, works.

How can apart from me you can do nothing mean Christ does the work.. Are you saying Christ is helpless without us? That is what you are saying. The scripture say apart from Christ YOU /WE can do nothing... we are the ones doing...with him we can without him we cannot....

We both believe works are necessary for a faith to be true. So the end result is still the same. As I said before, I believe James when he says that faith is dead without works. I believe the writer of Hebrews when he essentially says, that without holiness, no man shall see the Lord. So please stop saying I don't believe we can do nothing as believers. That is simply not true. A true believer will naturally do those things for God because He is born again spiritually. See, this is the key difference between us. It's not that we disagree that works and holiness is necessary for a true faith, but we disagree on whether or not works actually saves you or not. I believe Jesus saves us and that works flow from that savlation. You believe Jesus does not save you entirely and that you have to also do works to save yourself. Therein lies the difference between us. Yes, we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. But this is in reference to making sure we abide in Christ and repent of our sins (So as to be cleansed) so as to continue our walk with Him. For Jesus Christ is the source of salvation (1 John 5:12). Salvation is not in anything you do. What you do as a believer is the after effect of being cleansed by Jesus Christ. Your heart and life is brand new in Jesus Christ if you are born again and if you allow God to live within you.
If you "believe works are necessary for a faith to be true", then that means faith only can never save, right?
