Because no matter how hard people try, they cannot take away your inner beauty...

And these women are beautiful.

From Rahul Saharan's photoshoot.

They look like victims of acid attack. Yet another reason why I would never bring up my daughter in India, if I have one.

The change begins with us.

I love my country, and I see it as a challenge and obstacle to be overcome, not something to be shunned. And these pictures symbolize that.

Yup. Those pictures were truly beautiful, Rachel. Thanks for posting. I gotta say, even though I struggle with my looks, there's nothing more beautiful than overcoming and conquering your struggles in this life. That's exactly what those women did, and the smiles and the confidence they in themselves will light up any room like they lit up that photography session.

Opinion question for you all:

My parents and oldest sister (still younger than me) are taking my youngest sister to her universit tonight and then returning tomorrow afternoon. So last night as I'm enjoying some time with friends from church, I get a text from my oldest sister asking if I would go with them because she thinks my youngest sister "would really appreciate me being there." I know my youngest sister hasn't said this because it's not like her to say those types of things. I think more than anything my oldest sister just thinks it would be fun if I came along.

The problem for me is that I have no PTO left this year that I can take, so I would have to miss a full day of work. Her solution was just to work on Saturday, which I normally do anyway, but I normally work Saturday to get overtime. There's no chance for overtime this way. Then her response is, "I know it's a sacrifice, but I think she would really appreciate you being there." Being there for what? I mean, I'm glad to help move stuff in, but does it really matter where we say goodbye? And it's not like I'm never going to see her again.
The other downside to it is I'm probably going to end up sleeping on the floor in a hotel room.

Then I wake up to a text this morning from my sister saying that they would like to go and get lunch with me today. Now, I completely understand that these are all sweet requests and all, but then the other, more currently stressed out side of me thinks, "Does no one give a care at all that I need to get hours in for work?" Because taking an hour for lunch, which is the minimum amount of time it would take, means I wouldn't even get 8 hours in today, especially because if I do end up going with them tonight, I'm not going to be able to work as late as I would need to.

What is making this so much harder for me is that, for whatever reason, I've been feeling really stressed out this weekend. The busiest part of this month isn't even upon me, and it's not like I've been weighed down with tons of stuff to do, but all day Saturday and most of the time since then, I've had this really heavy feeling in my chest that I just can't shake. Aside from the fact that I've been doing other things, it's part of the reason why I haven't posted much here the last few days. And looking ahead to this week, I have to take my kitten to the vet Wednesday which means working late, I have a meeting with my pastor Thursday morning which means working late... Just to get 40 hours in.

So to be put in this position by my sister does not feel fair with the present state that I'm in. If I say no to either or both, I'm going to seem like a huge jerk.

So do I simply throw all of my cares aside to appease my sisters? Should I go to take my youngest sister to school?

In other news, this is starting off as a horrible day. Quickbooks isn't working (hasn't been for a few days now). My dad has already responded to my question about this issue in a way that tells me that the fewer questions I ask today the better. And I hate being so negative.
Let me run this through my female ---> male translator.

Translation: They love you. They want to spend time with you. Your youngest sister will miss you. Even if she's not the type to say that, she still thinks it, and she wants you to be there because it's a big milestone for her.

I'm glad you decided to go. :D

My parents are currently getting a divorce, I think my mother is leaving to her grandparents today.

School starts back Wednesday. Senior year.

There may be a chance I can't come back here for a while, which stinks because I just started coming here.

My Tourettes has been really bad, but I know it's just the Devil trying to get to me, show me that I'm never going to be good enough to get closer to God and keep up this walk with God. He's not doing a good job of getting to me though. And that I'm thankful for.

Yeah...and it's not that I don't want to go, it's that I haven't really felt up to going. But I will anyway.

Just ran across this article, and thought it would be a good share. I'll post it in the prayer thread on this topic as well.

FactChecker: Is ISIS Beheading Children in Iraq?

tl;dr - As believers, we have a responsibility to embrace and communicate the truth ('truth' in this case meaning true statements in general, not necessarily the gospel). There are reasons to believe that the report (singular usage here emphasized) of children being "systematically beheaded" could be a jump to conclusions rather than an accurate report of what is actually happening, and for that reason we should be careful about perpetuating something as fact that may not be fact at all. Of course the desperate need for prayer remains, though.

I am so confused by this string of words :p
Allow me to elaborate, then! This'll be fun. :D

Jesus-Juking: When you bring Jesus into a subject that is completely unrelated to Him. Let's say you're thirsty or hungry and you're with a friend who's huge on Christianity. You tell your friend, "Man, I'm thirsty, I think I want a smoothie." or "Man, I'm starving. Let's go to Subway (or whatever restaurant you like)." and your friend out of nowhere will say, "Maybe you should take a drink from the Living Water (aka Jesus)." or "Maybe you should eat the Bread of Life (aka Jesus. lol)."

Social Media and their trends. They're kind of crazy. There's Man Crush Monday (post a pic of the man you have a crush on or say who it is), Transformation Tuesday (you post a pic of what you used to look like and how different you look today), Woman Crush Wednesday (same as Monday, except it's a woman not a man), Throwback Thursday (a reminder of the good ol' days), and Flashback Friday (same as Thursday).

I see ALL over Twitter and Facebook every Monday something that has to do with Man Crush Monday. SO I decided...I feel left out. I need to participate in some way. Except, I don't have a crush, I've never had a boyfriend...anyone related to me would be just weird. SO I decided, you know...I have Jesus! I'll witness to people via Twitter while participating in Man Crush Monday at the same time. haha and so I tweeted, "My man crush is Jesus Christ. He's saved me from so many things. #mcm"

The house is fairly quiet. It's not that no one is here. Everyone minus Dad, who's at work, is here at home. It's just quiet. I also don't have much to do today. So you might be seeing me post a lot today.
