Thank you everyone who replied to this post and for the amazing advice. It actually makes me very sad that I was too blind to see what you guys have mentioned, I guess I just tried to see the good/fake side in him. I will take all your advice on board as it has really helped me and made me see sense, and thanks for your opinions on Christian and non-Christian relationships. God bless you all x

Don't feel bad. You're young and learning, while we're all older and more learned and experienced. You showed wisdom in asking rather than thinking you knew it all. So don't be sad about what you don't know, bu trather celebrate your wisdom in going to others when you weren't sure what to do.

don't feel sad that you were blind to see what has been pointed out... feel relieved you're several steps ahead of the game, now, and you haven't been fooled or blindsided. you've escaped a trap that many *many* girls/young women your age and older fall into, sometimes more or many times more than once... until they finally wise up.

Yeah, when we say we're older, wiser, and more experienced...

What that REALLY means is, we've all made our share or stupid mistakes, in one way or the other, and maybe our bad decisions can help save someone else from all the pain and sorrow we've been through.

In other words... DON'T be like us!!! :)

I would never even consider dating someone who isn't truly Christian, and who lives it.

Obviously not good at all to date a non Christian. They just cannot understand where a Christian is coming from when there are differences like that.

That's right! It's sexual harassment, learn the best way to talk to a female without seeming like a creepy stalker with a Gomez shrine in your parents' basement. If you've just surfaced from your parents' basement and want to dive to the love life, cool your jets. Learning how you can speak with a female means you should be casual and real.

I once dated a non-Christian woman.

But I broke up with her because during the "offerings" at my church, she would take money out of the plate instead of putting money into it (I didn't end our relationship because she didn't understand tithing, but because she wouldn't split the money with me!!!).

This is a very amusing post. She believes that it was better to receive than to give and you believe in sharing. These are two incompatible beliefs. No wonder there was a break-up in the relationship.

There's this guy who says he likes me a lot however he keeps asking me to do sexual stuff and have sex with him even though I've told him that I want to wait to marriage but he doesn't understand. In the beginning when we first started talking he was so sweet but now all he ever talks to me about is sexual stuff which is starting to annoy me a bit because it makes me think he just wants to use me and we're not even properly dating yet. I'll feel bad telling him that maybe it's not a good idea for us to get together because we want different things in life but I still want us to be friends. How should I tell him this and I want to know if anyone has dated a non-Christian before and whether they found it harder to date a non-Christian as opposed to a Christian? And what are your thoughts on Christians and non-Christians dating?
Ask him to go to church with you. My guess is that would solve the problem as he would probably run in the other direction. You are worth so much more than to just be a sexual object for some man. God shows us what real love is in that He gave His life to save us. Keep your standards up sister and let him find someone else to trouble. However if the best case scenario happens then the man is in church with you.

Is it safe to say that I can say whatever I need to say without the OPer being offended with what I'm about to say?

In my opinion the point of dating is the possibility of it leading to marriage. The foundation of a marriage is God. If you're married to a nonbeliever, there's no foundation. So no. I don't think it's a good idea for a Christian to date a nonbeliever.

I agree with you in that I would only date a woman that I would consider marrying one day. You were also right in saying that the foundation of marriage is God and if you are dating a nonbeliever you are alone in the building of the foundation and that is not a good thing. A house divided against itself must fall.
