From the base of G977; food (literally or figuratively), especially (ceremonial) articles allowed or forbiden by the Jewish law: - meat, victuals.
Did God allow all food to be eaten? In the OT there is a list of clean and unclean, even in the time of the flood.
Genesis 7:2 KJV
(2) Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
So is the text in Timothy saying we can eat anything as long as we pray about it? Certainly not and any christian teaching this is teaching what the Bible does not say. It is talking about clean food, good food that people will teach to abstain from. It is not against those who teach health principles.
