Be deliberate. Take the initiative. Be proactive.
I'm trying to describe my internal dialogue of late, without using buzzwords and I'm failing miserably.
Attack life, before life gets the chance to attack you. Do it when you know its right, not when you finally get permission.
Your actions are faster than your reactions. You would do better to seize the initiative than to adapt to the situation.
Go after the things that are important to you, before someone else does.
Good things may come to those who wait, but its really just the leftovers of what was the best thing.
Everything you love is subjective, and will hold more value to you than anyone. This is not up for debate or compromise, what is best for you may not always be explainable or articulated well but, that does not remove its value. Don't let others steal your joy or rob you of your treasure or devalue the things that matter most to you.
This is what makes the story of Jacob so heartbreaking. He fell in love and then settled. Don't be Jacob.
