Maybe we wouldn't add to it but it would be nice if there was an authority to tell us what the bible believes
Same thing twice, sorry all

Yes, we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit,
who gives us to understand the word of God written,
he does not give authoritative new revelation.
Yet the Bible say's faith comes by hearing the Word of God. You can't have faith without reading it.
You just insulted the Spirit to make a point. I am afraid for you.
I think they already heard the Word of God from Christ Himself. So on the day of pentecost they were all reading scripture to the hearers? Don't think so.
I think they already heard the Word of God from Christ Himself.
Jesus never said "read the book" he said keep the commandments and have faith
There are over 50 + Commands given by Jesus and or 1050 + New Testament Commands.

How would you know about all of them if it wasn't for the Bible?
For even Paul essentially said that what he had written was the Lord's Commandments (1 Corinthians 14:37).
Pardon my butting in but where do you think Paul acquired all those Commandments? Do you think Paul got them all in one day or three? How about the Holy Spirit guided him day in and day out throughout his work along with others who were given the Spiritual gifts.
No, There was need for the comforter. What you wrote shows that
Did I say Paul acquired all those Commandments?
I just look at what you say and it surely appears you are putting the written word which is only in part as scripture says, above the work of the Holy Spirit as if only the written grants you salvation instead of the Spirit working faith in us. You don't have to be able to read to be saved. Just ask Helen Keller.
what I can't find as logical or historical is the concept of bible as the only rule of faith
1) the last book in the bible wasn't written until 95ad and the bible wasn't bound and distributed until the 300's and even then only very limited until the advent of the printing press
2) the Christians in Goa India went 1500 years without a New Testament
Your verses say nothing about the Bible being or not being the only rule of faith after prophecy ceased.3) the bible disputes it in 1 Tim 3:15, (2 Thess. 2:15) to name just a few
4) no were in the bible does it say what books belong in the bible
5) no were in the bible does it say clearly the bible is all we need
6) jesus didn't write the bibleWho do you mean by uncapitalized "jesus"? Is He the 2nd person of the Trinity, God become man who died on the cross and rose from the dead? How do you know that God is not the author of the Bible?
7) I can't find any of the first Christians supporting it only contradicting it
What is your proof that none of the 1st Christians supported the Bible & rather contradicted it or said it was not a sufficient revelation for salvation and the Christian life.
"The scripture cannot be broken" "It is written."
So we don't have common ground that the Bible is God's word?
If not, then you bear evidence of not trusting Christ as Savior.
Since the sheep hear His voice, if you don't recognize the Bible as God's Word, why would anyone recognize you as a Christian?
Thus I ask you if you died tonight where you would go & how do you know?
If you were at the pearly gates seeking admittance and asked why you should be let in, what would you say?
On the other hand, if you do confess that the Bible is God's Word, and you think there is some other document which is also God's word, bring it forth & prove it is God's word.
It may be observed that since the last NT book, no one has successfully added one page to the Bible.

Do you believe the Bible is God's divinely inspired Word?
Yes but that in itself doesn't make it all of Gods word, only the written part.
