No, the NT contrasts the law and grace, it does not identify the law with grace.

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (Jn 1:17)

All attempts to do so are unBiblical.

I thought it was a general rule that words underlined are emphasis whereas words not found in original language are in italics.
This post is doing the opposite regarding "but", "grace" and "truth"
"But" is not in the original language.
Adding the word "but" makes the verse sounded like law and grace and truth contradict each other.

I know David received something and wrote this:
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children—with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding,

who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, my soul.

The first mention of "Jew" in the Bible is Esther's uncle Mordecai. He was of the tribe of Benjamin but not from the tribe of Judah where the term "Jew" came from.

Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite; (Esther 2

So would it be right in your estimation that Jew is a representation of Israel as a nation
=======================================================

just-me, good to hear from you.

concerning your question, the short answer would be (NO).
and the reason is, when the (12)tribes split-up, Rehoboam was of the tribe of Judah and Jeroboam
was of the tribe of Ephraim.
(10) Tribes went with Jeroboam and (2)Tribes went with Rehoboam.

according to 1Kings 12:21, it says, 'and when Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah
with the tribe of Benjamin, 180,000 chosen men who where warriors, to fight against the house of Israel,
that he might restore the Kingdom to Rehoboam, the son of Solomon.

the scripture that you pointed out, (Esther2) where Mordecai is called a Jew, but is actually a Benjamite
is similar to the apostle Paul being a Benjamite but indeed practicing the Judaic Faith.
this simply goes back to this historical background of the division of the Tribes.
the reason that they refer to themselves as Jews, is because the Jews are considered to hold the higher status
because, they indeed have received the Kingly or Scepter Promise.

as far as the other (10)tribes, they are considered as lost or apostate, or divorced, and if you study the history
of the Kings of the Lost Ten Tribes, there is (NOT ONE GOOD), (NO NOT ONE)!

when Jesus says, 'that I am come ONLY to the Lost House of Israel, He is indeed beginning to restore
the Kingdom to the House of David, just as Jeroboam was a type of trying to restore the Kingdom to
the House of David.

as it is written, Acts 15:16.
After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down;
'I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up; so that the rest of mankind may seek The Lord'....

EZ.37:16-17.
"As for you, son of man, take a stick for yourself and write on it: for Judah and for the children his companions.'
Then take another stick and write on it, for Joseph the stick of Ephraim, and for all the House of Israel, his companions.'
Then join them one to another for yourself into 'one-stick', and they will become one in your hand.

at this point is the RECONCILATION of the Tribes of Judah attached to Benjamin and the tribe of Ephraim
connected to the (10) Lost Tribes will again be (ONE-NATION). - and then Judah will indeed be
The Legal Representative of ALL (12) Tribes, - for the Tribes will be blessed for
The Scepter Promise will be enjoined to the Birth-right Promise.

Thanks. I agree. Now my next question to you or anybody else would be. Are the other tribes outside of Judah (Jews) known as mixed in with the Gentiles known as Ephraim in the following scripture?

Ezekiel37:16-19
16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying , Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

Previously addressed.

Okay.

"The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." (Jn 1:17)

The distinction between the differences is still clear.

The law is not identified with grace, but distinguished from it.

Which is probably why the KJV added the "but," to make clear the distinction.

Actually, I highly suspect that I am indeed a "Joe," besides I like to say Go Joes!

For the law having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image of the things can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. . . . . For it is NOT possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast ha no pleasure . . Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do they will, O God. He taketh away the first that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Hebrews 10:1,4,5,6,8,9

Moreover he [Moses] sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood there is no remission. Hebrews 9:21,22
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. . . . Now where remission of these is there is no more offering for sin. Hebrews 10:12-14,18

Some of what you say is not quite accurate because of this. - I only posted scripture - so how could I not be accurate? You posted NO scripture just your opinion.
Waaaa? What do you think this is, "BIBLE Discussion" forum or something?

"Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: " (Rom 2:9-10)

True, under the Law as in Great White Throne judgement...not under the Gospel.

Perhaps this is a forum to print the bible for those who do not have one at home to study? I thought we had BibleGateway for that.

Yes I tried to tell him that this section of scripture is speaking of JUDGMENT . . . in such a thing as CONTEXT!

Isn't it true that the Lord's goal for us is to be one people under Christ with the Jews leading the way? Wouldn't that mean that the tribes are also united into one?

Another question of the scripture that this thread is about concerning "to the Jew first and also the Gentile."

Is there any author of the Bible that was not from one of the tribes of Israel?

Now there are unknown authors such as the book of Job, so I'm not asking about those. There also has been a controversy about Luke but that has never been substantiated by any authoritative proof.

Romans 1:14-16
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth ; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
what did the Jew get first?

to hear Jesus and His teachings. To have a chance to accept His salvation message.

then Jesus sent Paul and other to the Gentiles the Gospel.

That's the fulfilled part of it. Do you believe that the Strong's Topical Concordance is of Pagan origin?

I think that's prophecy yet to be complete in Ezekiel. And yes, it is evident that the Jew leads the way. It should be today that the Gentiles would be stiving to be connected with the born again believing Jew's as Paul preached. Seems as though that hasn't completely been accomplished yet by the lack of desire or something.
