Genesis 3:22-24 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
[SUP]24 [/SUP] So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
The Cherubims were assigned one job, to keep anyone from eating of the tree of life, which was not off limits to Adam and Eve before sinning. They sealed off the Garden. Time is nothing to such beings, doubtless willing to keep doing that until the Flood would have erased the Garden from earth. God has plenty of those trees in Heaven, though. Revelation 2:7 (KJV)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Revelation 22:2 (KJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Revelation 22:14 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Knowing the creation plan was for all trees to reproduce themselves it should be easy to assume God wanted those to spread. But lest Adam and Eve eat of it while in that state of sin, the tree had to be withdrawn from human use. As for the tree of knowledge of good and evil, the effect of the fruit was released upon mankind. There is no mention of withholding it from further eating. It might as well have been allowed to spread across earth, maybe surviving the Flood.
