You love posting and then going back and seeing your name on the net, Jason? If you're going to talk about the bible, study it before you post. God doesn't like people that add and remove words, you know.
Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Worship Christ in secret........that is as ignorant a false doctrine as I have ever heard, and I've heard some bad ones.

Second, most Christians misunderstand this story. They think it is about Abram lying or sinning. However, nothing could be further from the truth, though. For Sarai was indeed Abram's sister (i.e. half sister). For in a similar repeat occurence of this event with Abimelech (at another time later), we see Abram explaining to Abimelech that Sarai is his father's daughter but not his mother's daughter (Genesis 20:12). In other words, Abram was not lying; Abram was revealing only what truth he felt was necessary to protect his interests for the good of his family. In fact, this is what Jesus does with the Parables. They reveal only a certain level of truth to an unbeliever's eyes or ears. For the mysteries of the Kingdom are not for unbelievers but for believers. That is why we are not to cast our pearls before swine. For God and or his people hiding truth from others is not lying or bearing false witness. In fact, the Pharaoh did not ask Abram if Sarai was his wife. If Abram was asked this and Abram said, "No, she is not my wife", then that would be a different story.

See, Abram was being as wise as a serpent so as to protect his bride (Sarai) in not revealing any unecessary truth that the Pharaoh didn't need to know. In fact, why didn't Jesus just reveal He was the Son of God to everyone showing that He had the full power as the Son of God? Well, because Jesus was in humble obedience to the Father and needed to fulfill things in the right timing so as to die for our sins (And rise three days later). For God used evil men to crucifiy him so as to pay for our sins. If these evil men actually were convinced that Jesus was the actual "Son of God", they would have never crucified Him and it would have destroyed the vehicle of faith (That God desires from them). For Jesus was humble and obedient to the cross because He loves the Bride (i.e. the Church). For Jesus was seeking those who would love Him with a pure heart and not because Jesus has the power. Jesus wants men who would follow Him by faith in love (In Spirit and in truth). Christ doesn't want a bunch of fake brown nosers who only pretend to suck up to the boss (When He is around). Christ wants real and genuine followers who worship Him in secret behind close doors.
Also, both scenarios between Abram and the Pharaoh and Abraham and Abimelech shows us that God was protecting Abraham and was punishing and or warning Abraham's adversaries. If Abraham not revealing all the facts about himself was a lie, then why didn't we see Abraham punished by God? Is it not odd that such a sin by such a great man of faith never is mentioned as a sin by either God or anyone who was righteous?

Now, the skeptics might say:

"Yeah, but what about the repeat of this event with Isaac, Rebekah, and Abimelech in Genesis 26? Isaac had followed in his father's footsteps and did the same thing by saying Rebekah was his sister. Yet we know from Scripture that Rebekah is not said to be Isaac's sister."

Well, the word "brother" (Hebrew: "'ach") or sister (Hebrew: "'achowth") had a wide range of meaning within the Old Testament; Both of these words can refer to relatives known as "fathers" (of which are a line of family male ancestors). The Bible does not mention family ancestors as great great great grandparents.

For example, Lot is called Abraham's "brother" (Genesis 14:14), although he is called the son of Haran. By today's modern usage of words: Lot would be Abraham's nephew. We also see this in the story of Jacob, too. For Laban calls Jacob his brother even though Laban is Jacob's uncle (Genesis 29:15). There are of course many other examples of this in Scripture (That make this obvious). So Isaac was not wrong for saying his wife was his sister because the word "sister" could refer to one you were related to in some way (And if you were to trace Rebekah and Isaac's genealogy, you would see that they were related or family).

Edit Correction (Which proves I am human):

Both of these words can refer to relatives. In the case of the patriarchs, they were known as the "fathers" (of which usually referred to the family male line of ancestors).

Not that I have to defend myself against you (Because God will defend me one day), but your accusation is false and inappropriate, my friend. I sent you a PM to express my intimate thoughts of why I created the thread. It is your choice to believe me or not. But I pray that God will open your eyes to see I have no ulterior motive.

If you're going to talk about the bible, study it before you post.
The purpose of talking here is so as to study the Bible. Would you like to comment on the Bible, too? You are free to join in and comment on God's Word and even disagree (By providing 1 or 2 sentences why you disagree and then provide a link to another thread so as to debate such said topic). But this is not a debate thread, though. It is a Bible Study Thread whereby we talk about the Bible.

God doesn't like people that add and remove words, you know.
Good thing I didn't create a Bible that has words that were removed and or added to it then.

Worship Christ in secret........that is as ignorant a false doctrine as I have ever heard, and I've heard some bad ones.
Again, I am not advocating that we don't tell others about Christ personally and or show our good works before men. Nor am I saying that we are not to have fellowship with other believers, either. I am talking about worshiping God and doing things for Him even when others are not looking. The New Testament speaks of this. Surely you should know what verses I am referring to, my friend.

Anyways, please do not reply to this post. This is not a debate thread, but a study thread.

In any event, may God bless you.

Story #9 - Lot's Story

~ What is Your Lot in Life?
~

Act 1 - (Family Troubles)

~ Part 1: ~
- (The Need For A Lot):

And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

And Abram said unto Lot,
"Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left."

And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

Chapter 1 - The Blessing of the Promised Seed (Continued).

Act 2 - (The Journey)

Story Line A: (Continued):
(A Walk By Faith With God)

Story Line B:
(The Wisdom of Serpents & The Bride) (Part I.):

And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife,
"Behold now, I know that thou art a fair woman to look upon: Therefore` it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee."

And it came to pass, that, when Abram was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and commended her before Pharaoh: and the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house. And he entreated Abram well for her sake: and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and menservants, and maidservants, and she asses, and camels.

And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.

And Pharaoh called Abram, and said,
"What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife? Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way."

And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him: and they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had. (Genesis 12:10-17).

And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. (Genesis 13:1).
Abraham had believed God about leaving his native land, and will believe God about a son being born... but here, he struggles to believe God will keep him alive in Egypt... it says to me that God doesn't require perfect faith to interact with someone...

Story #9 - Lot's Story

~ What is Your Lot in Life?
~

Act 1 - (Family Troubles)

~ Part 1: ~
- (The Need For A Lot):

And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
"And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold."

Abram was very rich in gold, etc. God blessed Solomon with great material possessions, too. Many prosperity and wealth preachers who have million dollar homes and private jets today use verses like these to justify their wealthy living and or their encouragment for others to live rich. However, 1 Timothy 6 dispells this type of thinking, though. For it says we are to withdraw from them who think Godliness is gain. But we (Being men of God) are to flee these types of things. We are to follow after righteousness and not riches. For some have erred from the faith in coveting after riches. For we as believers today live under the New Testament or New Covenant and we do not live under the Old Covenant whereby we desire to build a temple so as to sacrifice animals anymore. The Temple veil has been torn. Jesus is our ultimate sacrifice who died for our past sins. There is no going backwards. Jesus did not say we can put our treasures here upon this Earth, Jesus said we are to put our treasures in heaven; For He said it is hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. This is part of the changes under the New Covenant.

Here we see both Abram and Lot in harmony in worshiping God together. Lot was not a bad guy. He also worshiped the same God Abram did. In fact, the New Testament calls Lot as a righteous man. Although, righteous men of God in the Bible are not always perfect and they do mess up from time to time, they do not stay in rebellion against God as a way of life like an unbeliever. True righteous men throw themselves down before the mercy of God and seek to always walk in God's good ways (Even when they might stumble or make mistakes).

And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
"The land was not able to bear them that they might dwell together, for their substance was great. And there was strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle."

Here we see a situation where Lot and Abram's cattle cannot stay together. I believe this happened, so that God could show Abram that the Land Promise was going to be to given to him and his seed (i.e. the Promised Seed, Jesus Christ).

I remember watching the Bible Miniseries, and they make it appear that idea for Lot to leave or separate himself from Abram was Lot's idea. In reality, the Scriptures record Abram saying, "separate thyself, I pray thee, from me."

(Genesis 13:2-13)
Lot leaving was not his mistake because the land was not able to bear the substance of Abram and Lot together. Lot's mistake was in choosing a land that was filled with the types of sinners who were exceedingly sinful. Now, it is true that God does call us to witness to the lost (For Jesus was around sinners so as to witness to them), but God does not call us to go into strip clubs or a place full of drugs to hang out whereby we might damage our own walk or witness. We as believers at certain times need to be holy and separate from this world. For we cannot walk as they do. We are merely pilgrims in a strange land who are just passing thru.

(Genesis 13:14-18).

...
God tells Abram to look from the place in where he is at in all directions and says that He will give this land to him. He tells Abram to walk in this land (Letting him know it will one day be a part of his future inhertance). This event of God showing Abram the land that he will one day inherit is a fulfillmnent of Genesis 12:1 when God says,

"Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee"

In fact, sometime at the beginning of the future Millennium: I believe Abram (Abraham) will be resurrected physically (Which is made possible by the power of Christ's resurrection). Why is this important? Well, when Abram (Abraham) is resurrected, he will in effect inherit the "Promised Land" which was promised to him by the Lord.

Also, please read the passage in Revelation below. It mentions about how there will be people who will sit upon the throne so as to judge during the Millennium, too. These judges will rule over those who died for Christ during the Great Tribulation. I believe Abram (Abraham) will be one of these judges who will sit upon the throne here (Whereby God will fulfill His Land Promise to Abraham thru the "Blessing of the Promised Seed").

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:4-6).

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, (Genesis 14:1-2).

And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, ... and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; (Genesis 14:8).

And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain. And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.

And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram. And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.

"For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever." ... Abraham probably thinks he'll receive the land soon... weeks, months, years... it turns out that he'll be a wanderer the rest of his life, and in a few generations his descendants will be slaves for several hundred years before they will take possession of the land... God may tell us something, we understand it one way, while he may understand it another...

While I have not verified it for myself (To either confirm or deny it), I do find it fascinating that some believers today believe they found these slime pits in the valley of Siddim.

And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew;

...
"Abram the Hebrew"

This is the first occurence of the word "Hebrew" (Hebrew: `Ibriy) in the Holy Scriptures. One of the definitions for the word "Hebrew" is defined as "one from beyond."

Hebrew Lexicon :: H5680 (KJV)

As many of you know, the Old Testament was written in Hebrew and there is a book in the Bible named "Hebrews" which talks about Abraham. What is interesting is that if we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are Hebrews, too. Not externally (at this moment), but spiritually. But one day when we will be given a new resurrected body in Christ Jesus, we will have bodies that will be after our Lord. We will one day be physical Hebrews because Jesus Christ is a Hebrew (or Jew).

To Abraham and to his seed (i.e. the Promised Seed, Jesus Christ) was the promises made.

"Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." (Galatians 3:16).

In Christ Jesus when everyone will be resurrected, they will no longer be Jew and Gentile. They will be physically resurrected after the likeness or flesh of Jesus Christ. Jesus is a Hebrew or a Jew. If we are resurrected physically after Jesus and his resurrection (Being under the Last Adam and not the first Adam), then we will be Hebrews just like Jesus is a Hebrew. We will be joint heirs according to the Promise thru Christ.

"And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Galatians 3:29).

Does this mean that all believers will inherit the Land Promise? No, Revelation 20 makes it clear that only those who sit on the thrones and those who are killed for Jesus during the enforcement of the Mark will live and reign with Christ. The rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years is finished.

"he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen"

Folks who really do not look closely at the text think Abraham is just a shepherd of sorts who traveled within a very small group. However, this is not the case, though. Abraham and his people who were well trained (born in his own house) were in the number of 318. This was no doubt just the men and not the women. These men were trained servants. The text says, "he armed his trained servants." In other words, they were warriors, no doubt because they needed to be prepared in defending off attackers who came into their land.

"when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive"

The kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fell in the valley of Siddim, but their remaining army of people had kidnapped Lot and a few others. One of the men escaped so as to tell Abraham that Lot was captured. So Abraham and his trained men had set out to rescue Lot from the trouble that he was in.

"And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people."

Abram was a hero. He fought against those who were of Sodom and Gomorrah and saved Lot and others who were taken captive. Abram brought back goods from the spoils of war. Abram saved the day. He saved his brother. Abram was blessed and in favor with God.

........................ I believe Abram (Abraham) will be resurrected physically ...........................
Why do you believe that? Is that someone else's false doctrine or did you come up with it on your own? For him to be resurrected as a man means he would have to die twice. He has already been transformed. Nowhere in the bible is there any basis for people being resurrected into flesh and then transformed back into spirit and then back into flesh and then back into.....where does it end? You think Christ is playing some kind of game? What kind of nonsense is that? Ludicrous!
There is no hint, example, or suggestion that any man will ever be resurrected and come back to earth in a fleshly body. Utter nonsense!

Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

You sound like one of those clouds Jude talk about in the 12th verse.

Story #9 - Lot's Story (Continued).

~ What is Your Lot in Life?
~ (Continued)

Act 1 - (Family Troubles - Continued)

~ Part 2: ~
- (A Lot In Trouble):

(Genesis 14:10-16).

...
good to see Abraham is back to his old believing self, after the struggle in Egypt... he takes his 318 servants and does a night attack on the militaries of 4 kings... pretty gutsy...

No, read Revelation 20:4-5. It says those who sit on the thrones and those souls who were beheaded for Christ (for refusing the Mark) will LIVE and reign with a Christ a thousand years. It then says the rest of the dead LIVED not again until the 1,000 years is finished. So no. The bodily resurrection is not a new teaching in Scripture. It is clearly taught in Scripture in many places and by many respected men of the faith thru out time. Yes, it is true; It is appointed unto men once to die and after this the Judgment; However, after that point, it doesn't say what could happen. A bodily resurrection is not in conflict with that truth.

#1. It is appointed to men once to die (Because of Adam's sin).
(Yet, what about Enoch? Was he appointed to die?)

#2. The Judgment.

#3. Bodily Resurrection.

The Sheep and Goat's Judgment takes place before the Millennium and the Great White Throne Judgment takes place after the Millennium but before the Eternal New Earth. The Judgment Seat of Christ for believers is a bit of mystery that I have to do some more research into. I know Judgment begins at the house of God first.

In any event, Revelation talks about how in the Eternal New Earth, there will be no more death, pain, suffering, etc., too.

Anyways, if you want to debate this issue, please go to this thread here:

Story #8 - Abraham and Sarah's Story (Continued).

Chapter 1 -
The Blessing of the Promised Seed (Continued).

Act 2 - (The Journey - Continued)

Story Line A:
(A Walk By Faith With God): (Continued)

~ Part 2: ~
- (Melchizedek blesses Abram): (Continued)

And the king of Sodom went out to meet him [Abram] after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

And he [Melchizedek] blessed him, and said,
"Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand."

And he gave him tithes of all.

And the king of Sodom said unto Abram,
"Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself."

And Abram said to the king of Sodom,
"I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say,

'I have made Abram rich':

Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion."

(Genesis 14:17-24).
