I confess that I want to grow to know God more intimately. Instead of doing more though, maybe I just need to learn to rest in Him and listen for His still, small voice.
There was a real estate agent that kept getting a calling to become a Pastor. He talked to a Pastor about this calling he kept having. The pastor said this is what God wants of you. The senior pastor said that he will train the real estate agent in ministry.
After the services they would sit together in quiet. The real estate asked. What are we doing? The Pastor said. We are listening for Gods voice. The real estate agent is a senior Pastor of his own Church now.

Getting away alone without any distractions is a good way to get the connection going with Jesus :)
I have heard many sermons from different pastors speak of this also.

I regularly spend time in my 'prayer closest' but it often seems fruitless. I think it's important to keep doing it though. Especially since I've been encouraged to persevere to continue to seek God more and more, no matter what. Fruit will come in time. Patience.

On Sunday, November 9, 2014 I run out of Marlboro's. The next day may prove to be interesting. Amusing too. There is no need to worry as it is "just another manic Monday. I wish it were Sunday, that's my fun day. My I don't have to run day...". It is already starting and it is good to be alive.
habits... argh. my coffee habit gets defeated when I know if I have a busy day teaching and I do not drink it but I get a headache that lasts all day. Then I feel the next morning, I have been detoxed. I know that my habit will leave when I consistently stay in this detox zone.

Dear Father In Heaven

Please be with tourist and OnThisRock as they are laying down habits at Your feet in submission to Your Will that they desire and plead with You to overcome these habits that can harm their body temple in which You choose to dwell. Please add my name to this list of habits laid at Your feet as I struggle to with overeating. They are all habits we want to cherish and sins we want to pet and keep alive, but HELP US PLEASE in spite of ourselves to desire Your healthy ways above our destructive ones.

To continue is slow death in any of these habits because not only do we harm our bodies, but we push away Your Holy Spirit each time we give in which makes it easier to give in again to the next temptation and Father we don't want to push You away, but we desire to have you fill us with Your Holy Spirit and give us victory over smoking, caffeine and eating too much. Send Your angels to go to battle with and for us and continue to pour out Your Holy Spirit to us to help us to gain the victory over these sins that try to keep us in chains.

Please take the cravings away and help us to have healthy and right desires, which would be to draw closer to You and become more and more like Jesus every day of our lives. Thank You and we believe in Your power and strength and trust and have faith in You that You who began a good work in us will see it through to completion. I lay the three of us at Your feet oh please help our unbelief Dad - We Need You in Jesus Name Amen.

Hi tourist. I already believe you are sincere. Why else would you be here if you didn't care at all. The truth is God has already answered your prayer. The day Jesus died on the cross He took that nicotine and whatever else you are struggling with, with Him to the grave and He didn't raise from the dead with it, He came out of the grave without it. God impressed upon my heart about a week ago, that whatever I desire to receive from him, whatever answer to prayer or blessing it might be, I have to take it by faith only, because the blood of Jesus has settled it! He said that we cannot receive it any other way, not by hoping or exercise of our will, but by faith alone. It's easy to believe, but to live it out is a different thing. The beginning of walking out that victory will be to take control of your emotions through your thoughts. How do we do this? By the renewing of our minds, because the Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword, able to divide asunder between the soul and the spirit. It is able to cast down every imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, you know that when you want to do something you already know is sinful, but you can't control it and just go ahead and do anyway. Those thoughts are the ones controlling our appetites and desires in our sinful flesh. Just because you have them doesn't mean that you are not saved, if you already came to Christ through repentance and faith, but we do fight a real battle with Satan in this area. It's the only place he has left in controlling Christians, in the hope that they might not do further damage to his' kingdom. The fact that you are a Christian is already terrorizing him to despair! Now he has to deal with someone who desires to serve God and wreak havoc to his' kingdom and the only way he can control the situation is if he can get you to fight the battle where he isn't fighting it. He gets us frustrated in fighting in the air in the emotional realm of our soul, which is exactly where we so regularly forfeit the battle against sin. The battle always happens and is won in the mind. To win therefore, you have to see yourself winning long before you ever get to the finish line and actually win it. Don't try to finish the finish line, when in truth you are actually 100 miles away from it. In truth, just like salvation, healing from addiction is only a breath away, but if we struggle to believe it, it might take some effort on our part to renew our minds and receive it by faith. Don't throw away your cigarettes, when you haven't yet broken your craving for it. Because if you do, desire is waiting at the door again, and waiting to entangle you again around the corner, and this time Satan will try to build a stronghold and desire for smoking stronger than what you had before. This is what it's like to try and live in victory in our own strength. We are literally trying to accomplish something that is impossible for man, yet all things are possible with God! Jesus has already crossed the finish line and won the victory for you. If you don't believe it, your actions may become pure by sheer willpower and desire to please God, but inside your heart you will be weak and have not received any grace to empower you to live a life in victory over sin. Religion teaches us incorrectly, that Jesus brings us to the start of the race, but then leaves us to run it all on our own, doing works and keeping laws that we are not empowered to do under the law, but are condemned by! With Jesus and by grace alone you can live a life in purity and holiness, with the joy of heartfelt surrender in your life to Christ and it will feel almost effortless! Without Jesus, the burden of sin is heavy, but with Him we can cast it off of us and live in victory!
On this day where there are Zero to be had Pietman said it better than I could - please read again and place it in your heart. I love You tourist - I pray for you - I need you to be around for years to come - Through Jesus you have the victory over this and any other thing that might be harmful or sinful. We are saved by grace and not of ourselves it is a gift of God. What you are battling is a want not a need. I need you in my life please choose life and live.... Darlene/JesusLives

I discovered today that I am an enabler. Someone is trying to stop a bad habit they were sullen and looked to be in so much pain and I hurt and had pain inside myself hating watching the suffering and I folded and did the devils work for him and enabled someone to continue in a habit that was said they wanted to stop. Now I feel guilty and remorse for caving and giving in. God help me and please forgive me for assisting in harming another body temple other than my own. Forgive me for not trusting You to take care of this person I care about. I just feel really bad Dad I hand the entire situation over to You. I failed I'm sorry. I feel sick inside.

Sometimes I feel like many people on CC argue too much over law. Things that don't matter. And also even some seemingly false doctrine that I can't tell them is possibly dangerous because they would just argue and get heated with me.

Also, drinking. I think that a Christian shouldn't drink because it can easily become an addiction, and the Bible talks about not being drunk. But sooooOOOOOOoooo many Christians drink that it just makes me sad. And it could just be me but I really have a hard time respecting people who drink.

"Oh yeah I drink and I'm a Pastor." What, WHAT!?! How?

I confess to wanting to find a friendship on here that would lead to a relationship because I'm afraid that finding a real Christian guy out in the world will be next to impossible.

Also, if I you don't like me as a person, I understand this. If you don't like me romantically I understand this. Even if you don't like me romantically because of my appearance. I completely understand that. But please don't talk to me for five seconds, look at my profile, then bounce without at least making some sort of reason why. I can see your name on my profile, I know that you were interested enough to look and now you're not. At least give me the decency as a human being.

And you know what, I have been guilty. I have probably done it and I apologize to anyone who I have cut off contact. But otherwise, please be courteous guys. We all have hearts that can get bruised easily

I found meditation to help. I've grown a lot and I'm not as messy as I used to be. Still working on a few things. However, it's not as much of a struggle anymore. Have you tried?

This site is an excellent place to find your heart's desire. What is impossible with us is possible with God as He is the God of great possibilities. This requires prayer and a certain measure of patience.

I am an addict and nicotine is my drug of choice. With the help of God who provided me my helpmate I have gradually reduced my intake to a point where I am no longer a chain smoker. I believe that it is true in that I love to smoke and this is certainly a black mark on my character. I have prayed for God to remove this love of tobacco from me and to deliver me from the pain that I am now in due to the constant withdrawal pains. Becoming smoke-free by Christmas would be a nice present to give to the woman that I love who has stood beside me during this horrible ordeal. I am a clever man and I can rationalize anything but apparently have not faced the truth until this moment. I love tobacco and I hate myself for it. The truth hurts even more than the withdrawal pains and the pain that I have caused to the woman that I love.

Thank you Lady Blue for your encouraging words. You are a true friend and I appreciate you very much. It is true in what you have said in that we all love something that is bad for us. You are always in my prayers as I know that you too have your own serious struggle as well. Please know that you are not alone in this. None of us are as the Lord is always by our side and understands our struggle as well. He is faithful and true and He will find a way to deliver us from evil and the other things that are harmful to our lives. He wants us to have life and to have it more abundantly and I pray for this for the ones that I love. Darlene has been wonderful to me and so have you and I am truly blessed. It's not so bad after all. God is Love and life is good.

Dear Dad

Please continue to help tourist in his quest to stop smoking. The withdrawal symptoms have been taking a toll on him and the pain he feels is the pain I feel watching him go through this. Please do take away the desire he has for smoking and make this a thing that is detestable to him that he will hate it and not want to pick up another cigarette ever in his life.

Father You know I have watched two loved ones die from this very habit one being my dad dying from lung cancer and my uncle who died from emphysema where one of his lungs burst...I don't want to see another loved one die either way...It is too painful and the thought just kills me inside so Please help him....In Jesus Name Amen.

I also have a serious caffeine addiction. I have a problem with sodas. I need to quit drinking them, or at least cut down on the amount a lot. And break the addiction. Its a lot tougher than people think though.
