Someone told me that too early in my friendship with him, instead of seeing where he was coming from, i ran and exited at the main door. :D. The three words "I love you" is very holy because that was the first word I heard from the first man in my life, JESUS. So you better not say it without meaning it. There is time for everything, a time to love and a time to hate. Right word to say is good, and it goes with the right timing. :)

The most overlooked characteristic of who you want to marry

Hi, Tintin. Miss both you and Arlene. Why even your names are rhymed? When is the wedding chimes? lol

Markum, help me out. I'm not sure where I said this.
I'm thinking it was in regards to getting remarried. I think that undertaking anything that major should be a bit intimidating, so maybe intimidated was a better word than uber scary. The fact that we both have kids from prior marriages (one M each, 3 kids between the two of us) adds a whole lot more gravity to the situation. There is much more consideration that needs to be made in this kind of setting, I think...or maybe it's new reasons for the same level of consideration that should have been there anway.

Not sure the details of the previous marriages but I do know that statistics for remarriage success is low. I spent some time thinking about this and why that might be. Mainly I think it similar to other unhealthy patterns that we develop. Once you have eaten of the fruit, so to speak, it doesn't seem so bad after all.
You aren't doomed by your past failures unless you fail to learn something from them and therefore make the same ones again.

I believe that this need not be the case for either of you.
The key is commitment. A person that is fully committed will not only succeed but enjoy the experience much more than someone that is wavering. Doubt and fear can just suck every bit of pleasantry out of a situation.
God created the affection that the two of you have for one another. It is good. Let there be no doubt on that.
I don't really know you that well but you seem like a very pleasant person. I really hope that the two of you will seek God's will on this. Study hard (together if you can) and pray without ceasing.

Remember this too. The "American Dream" is not according to God's design. The "American Dream" or "world" will give you 101+ reasons why not. You are too young/old, haven't had enough education, don't have a good enough career, are too busy, don't know what love is, are too different, etc...
Don't try to achieve all of those things beforehand. If she is in agreement, then achieve them together.

Lastly... commit. Either to do or not to do. Do not waver. Once you have done so, do so with honor and integrity. That is the will of God. You will have tough times. Those are the times that you can make your honor shine.

Hi Jer. Thanks, sister. Our names rhyme - really? Wedding bells? You're not the only one who's said this. Arlene and I love each other very much but it's hugely important to prayerfully and purposefully consider such a such a major life decision. This isn't one decision you want to rush into (but it's not one you want to hold off for too long). First, we need to spend more time together in person. But thank you for thinking of us. :)

This is a Great post. I want to respond more in depth, but must ready the fam (and self) for the day. Thank you Markum. I hope to reply to this more in depth, soon.

Markum, I still owe you a proper reply. I intend to give such, just not right now.
These words are burning my fingertips to get out onto the internet.

Yesterday, while my daughter was at a Girl Scout service project, my sweetie & I took our sons to the barber, all three of us fellas got haircuts. We arrived separately, but even the ladies who are experts at looking at people's heads were not convinced that only one boy was related to one adult and the other way about. They look so much like each other that her son looks like me and mine looks like her...and they each look like their own biological parent who was there. [If I didn't know for a fact that my mom wasn't a 15yr old girl giving up a daughter for adoption in 1982 (my mum was 36 and in a different part of the US that year), I would question her family tree more, lol.] They boys are only 7 months apart, so it looks like it may be a case of being mistaken for life as "Irish Twins." (no offense intended, please...if you find this term offensive PM me about it and I will respond accordingly...I am Scotch/Irish, so I felt ok saying it.)

Later yesterday, we got back together, just her & I. The time was right, so I told her that I did not want her to say a word that she did not feel whole-heartedly, but that I'd waited longer than I could bear to wait to tell her...and I said those three words. "I love you."
I did my best to memorize the moment and soak it all in. I want to never forget it. I know it meant more to her to have heard it then than any other time that I could have said it prior. I did not say it for her benefit, however. I said it because I meant it. Wholly. Completely. To the point I could no longer in silence about it, feel it. I said it because I needed to say it. Because I feel it so very much that I cannot Not say it any longer. May that moment stay in my memory long past when I am so old I need help with the buttons on my shirt. I want to never forget the moment that followed, either. The moment where with full confidence and conviction she said to me the same.

God, Father, Lord...it is You and You alone who bless us. Thank you Father for giving me this woman to cherish in my life today. Help me, Lord. Guide my steps that I may follow Your plan for my life. Help me, God, to give this relationship with her the respect and reverence it is due. Help us each to use this relationship to model for our children what dating should be. I do not know, Dad, what you have in store for us, but would be honored if this is it. God, you have made her so wonderful, that I do hope that this may lead from dating, to courtship, to marriage and a life together serving You, Our Lord. Please, God, keep us patient, waiting on Your timing and not rushing that succession in any way. We both want, Dear Father, to be followers of you more than to be together...but we want to be together very much, indeed. Please continue to bless this relationship and help us to in it, live as the examples you would have us be. Help us be examples for our kids, for other couples, and for others who have endured the terror of divorce. Lord, for YOUR benefit and the benefit of YOUR kingdom, continue to bless us that others may see through us the goodness of a life lived in You. I pray that our story be YOUR story. Make us an example of Your redemptive love, of Your grace, of Your own liking of the happily every after that can come from second chances. Use our relationship as an analogy for the redemption available through the sacrifice of Your own Son, Jesus the Christ.
I place this in Your hands, and pick up my foot to follow You. Place each step, Lord, on Your path for me. I trust you, Lord.
Ahmen
