I wear a cross, I don't feel that as a Christian I have to wear one though and sometimes I wear something else but I do like to wear a cross. It's not a symbol of Christ's suffering but of what He did for me and a reminder that I belong to Him. I don't worship that or any other cross but Him who endured it.

I think it's a personal thing, a choice. I choose to wear it.
 
Sometimes I wear my cross earrings, I don't expect people to think, what a super Christian. I like them. As far as the Catholic religion let's be respectful, to say they think of it as two sticks is not true and disrespectful. I know and love many Catholics and they wouldn't say something like that about the different protestant religions.

There is no evidence that for the first 300 years after Christ’s death, those claiming to be Christians used the cross in worship. In the fourth century, however, pagan Emperor Constantine became a convert to apostate Christianity and promoted the cross as its symbol. Whatever Constantine’s motives, the cross had nothing to do with Jesus Christ. The cross is, in fact, pagan in origin. The New Catholic Encyclopedia admits: “The cross is found in both pre-Christian and non-Christian cultures.” Various other authorities have linked the cross with nature worship and pagan sex rites.
Why, then, was this pagan symbol promoted? Apparently, to make it easier for pagans to accept “Christianity.” Nevertheless, devotion to any pagan symbol is clearly condemned by the Bible. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) The Scriptures also forbid all forms of idolatry. (Exodus 20:4, 5; 1 Corinthians 10:14)

Failure for anyone (including me) to do proper homework before standing firm on a position, is why most arguments get heated. I am not a nut or confrontational, nor insane for standing by what I believe to be truth, backed by homework and historical fact. I do not believe one is saved or not saved by doing anything in particular ( wearing a cross) -that was not the push of this thread. It is up to the individual to seek out what may or may not be right.
 
I think this would be an example of majoring in the minors :) It's a good reminder to be mindful of what a cross symbol actually represents when we choose to wear one, but there is nothing wrong with doing so.

The cross has nothing to do with Jesus Christ? Wow...strange things I end up reading on this forum.

The same argument about "making it easier for pagans to accept christianity" is used when people try to deny the deity of Christ, the celebration of Sunday (instead of Saturday), the give up of jewish practices etc.

I posted the historically proven origin of the cross and it's use just above your note. I too am being mindful of what that symbol represents, that's why I personally don't wear them. God Bless.

Yes...the origin of the cross. I personally believe we are responsible to know what/why we do or follow certain traditions? (like wearing a cross) The cross represents WHY He died for us, the actual cross(es) itself is/are a death device.

I don't see anything wrong in wearing a cross or having a cross at home. In fact -> I was wearing a cross (as a necklace) myself when I was younger.

The two most recognizable symbols in the world are the cross and the Superman emblem. (which the Superman thing is sad in itself) The only benefit I see in the cross symbol is that it reminds people of Christ. And that is awesome. But does it make them investigate Christ? Hopefully? I pray it sparks something in them. Because, the Superman emblem may remind us of Superman, but it doesn't make anyone more inclined to search out Superman's origins? Probably not. Symbols are symbols. I pray the cross will , and let's hope that it does.

The cross has everything to do with Christ. And christians who wear it do not see it neither as a pagan symbol, nor as a death device.

What historical proof are you referring to? I know that the cross was used in pagan religions also (as if all the world pre-sensed in an unconscious way the Sacrifice of Christ). I would like historical proof for the claim that the cross was not a christian symbol or didn't bear any christian meaning until Constantine.
